Although Ethan noticed that Logan seemed to take a longer drink than the sips he had been taking, he said nothing. Tonight was a night of celebration, not lingering on mistakes or anxieties. “Yep. I’m going to try to stop drinking so much.” Ethan couldn’t even keep a straight face at that. “Nah, I’m kidding. I don’t know, just to be a little more organized. How about you? Made any resolutions for 2018?”
For about half a second, he almost thought Ethan was being serious--almost. But as Ethan’s facade cracked, so did Logan’s and he laughed. “Cool, cool, organized is good. That’ll help you keep better track of all the side hustles going on.” Logan said, stalling for time. His mother always said resolutions were a promise to yourself to do better. Logan never liked making them, but it felt... important to do it this year. “Uh, yeah, sort of. I’ve resolved to... come up with one before I get plastered, or the clock strikes midnight. Whichever comes first.”
