Feb 21st (Saturday) Lewd Gamer's Raze interviews the developers of HuniePop: Q: What kind of backlash have you experienced? A: Mainly just social justice crybaby bullshit; the people that can’t handle the fact that other people, who aren’t them, get to play a game that they don’t like. But obviously anybody could have seen that coming ten thousand miles away. I remember writing some of the dialog and laughing, thinking “holy shit, they aren’t gonna like this one”. (An Interview with the Developers of HuniePop [Lewd Gamer] [AT]) Nicole Seraphita addresses the different types of gamer entitlement in For Better or Worse: Entitlement in Gaming; [APG Nation] [AT] In light of Brianna Wu's fearmongering, an imaginary Sarin gas attack at PAX East, Allum Bokhari writes Who Should Really Feel Unsafe at #PAXEast? [Storify] [AT] New video by Lo-Ping: Address to #GamerGate: Don’t Fear Insurrection; [YouTube] A few days after MovieBob's departure, Defy Media's Senior Vice President Alexander Macris announces that Brandon Morse and Liz F will be new content creators at The Escapist. Feb 20th (Friday) codeGrit posts an An Open Letter To All (#GamerGate, #NotYourShield, #SJW); [Medium] [AT] New article by Georgina Young: Lawyer Uses Social Media to Gather Plaintiffs in Gawker Intern Lawsuit; [TechRaptor] [AT] Compiled data from surveys on KotakuinAction and GamerGhazi shows racial diversity, among other factors, in both subreddits; [8chan Bread on /v/] In a “very polite and constructive e-mail exchange” with Mark Kern, Patrick Garratt states: I wasn’t threatening anyone with that sentence, and I wasn’t talking about the literal process of signing your petition (although I can see how it seems I was). I used the words “sign” and “ink” as talking about the petition was the core of my article. I meant that the internet is indelible, and that those with open sympathies toward Gamergate (which, unarguably, does contain bigoted, dangerous, sexist elements), or any periphery cause, will have them forever. Of course I didn’t mean that developers signing your petition are doing so “on pain of excommunication by the press,” because by doing so I’d probably be unhinged. […] I’ve previously said publicly that anyone with genuine concerns about videogames journalism should, in my view, avoid publicly siding with anything related to Gamergate in any way, as it’s sexist and demonstrably repugnant. That line is simply a reiteration of that sentiment. So, yeah, I apologise if that was misconstrued. I wasn’t threatening anyone with anything. […] Gamergate is full of ill-informed bigots, and we don’t need another Gamergate. I have no idea if you and Ken Levine are ill-informed bigots, as I don’t know either of you. To be perfectly honest, Mark, I’d never heard of you before you posted that petition. I’ve interviewed Ken once, I think. I do believe your petition is ill-informed, and I hope I explained why in my article, but as to whether or not you, personally, are a bigot, I have no idea. I sincerely hope you aren’t! ([Mark Kern’s Change.org Petition] [AT]) Feb 19th (Thursday) 8chan's /v/ and /gamergate/ boards and Twitter users vote 192-6 to add VG247 to Operation Disrespectful Nod; [8chan Bread on /v/] [8chan Bread on /gamergate/] When 8chan's /gamergate/ board learns that Gawker Media, LLC is seeking $15 million in funding and having Young America Capital manage the funding process, users move to notify Young America Capital’s management team of Gawker's controversial pieces on Coca-Cola's #MakeItHappy campaign, which they ruined with quotes from Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf; [8chan Bread on /gamergate/] New video by EventStatus: Law & Order GG Episode, DOA: LR Season Pass, Evolve Cheating, RE: Revelations 2 Not Horror? + More! [YouTube] After a rant by Oliver Campbell, Adrian Chmielarz states he is not angry, but afraid, and wonders whether the threat of a blacklist is real: I don’t know what the future holds. We live in a world in which its brightest minds can be humiliated and turned into a teary mess for wearing the wrong t-shirt. But we also live in a world in which thousands of people protested that, and I’m sure Matt Taylor heard them. I’m not good enough to polish the man’s shoes, so this is obviously not a direct comparison – but I heard you too, and while I can’t speak for other developers, I do want to publicly thank you and everyone else who helped – you know who you are – for your voices of support. ([TwitLonger] [AT]) Feb 18th (Wednesday) 8chan's /gamergate/ board and KotakuInAction start Operation #FairPay, an effort to spread the word about Gawker, Nick Denton, and the ongoing unpaid-intern lawsuit, Mark v. Gawker Media LLC (13-cv-04347); [8chan Bread on /gamergate/] [KotakuInAction] SdoctmdPlays brings an anonymous developer, a friend of his, to KotakuInAction for an AMA and then proceeds to give some insight into UBM and GDC in a Twitch stream; [Sound Bites - 1] [Sound Bites - 2] [AT] New article by Patrick Bissett: Jeopardy Man Arthur Chu Takes a Stand Against Helping Abused Porn Star And Family; [The Daily Caller] [AT - 1] [AT - 2] KotakuInAction hits a new milestone: 28,000 subscribers; [AT] New article by Allum Bokhari: Let Baldwin Speak: #GamerGate Chalks Up Another Victory; [Spiked] [AT] Adrian Chmielarz responds to Rami Ismail's claim that “the press reported on facts about GamerGate
Extra Credits makes a video urging gamers to stand up for their medium when moral crusaders try to censor it.
Years later, #GamerGate happens, where gamers stand up for their medium against journalistic corruption and moral crusaders trying to censor it.
Extra Credits slanders GG with unfounded bullshit and compare them to the KKK.
Extra Credits also just so happens to be buddy-buddy with the IGDA (which is staunchly anti-GG and recently exposed to be chock full of corruption and cronyism.)
Extra Credits also has a large amount of crowdfunding money (about $89k) unaccounted for after it was supposed to go to a side-project that never materialized.
Guess standing up to moral crusading and corruption is only acceptable when it’s not YOUR moral crusading and corruption.
In the UK Men must now PROVE that a woman consented to sex. Except *how can you*. No, seriously, how do you prove she consented without filming her during every single sex act?
Men accused of date rape will need to convince police that a woman consented to sex as part of a major change in the way sex offences are investigated. The Director of Public Prosecutions said it was time for the legal system to move beyond the concept of “no means no” to recognise situations where women may have been unable to give consent. Alison Saunders said rape victims should no longer be “blamed” by society if they are too drunk to consent to sex, or if they simply freeze and say nothing because they are terrified of their attacker. Instead, police and prosecutors must now put a greater onus on rape suspects to demonstrate how the complainant had consented “with full capacity and freedom to do so”.
Holy fucking shit…
This is insane.
There’s simply no way to prove you’re innocent, you just can’t. Every woman can now have every man she fucks brought up on charges that it is impossible for him to defend against.
And every dopey fucking Feminist reading this is all “IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE ACCUSED OF RAPE DON’T RAPE!!!”
You’re not getting it. A man is now effectively guilty until proven innocent and ONLY MEN IN THE UK CAN BE CONVICTED OF RAPE BECAUSE THE STATE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT MALES CAN BE RAPE VICTIMS.
No, THIS IS WRONG.. GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT IS *ALWAYS WRONG*.
Further… MORE WAYS A MAN CAN BE ACCUSED OF RAPE:
The ability to consent to sex should also be questioned where the complainant has mental health problems, learning difficulties or was asleep or unconscious at the time of the alleged attack, she said.
This has to stop. A woman can say she was raped, even if she consented to sex… because she has learning difficulties…
WHAT… THE… FUCK!?!?!?!?!?
This has got to stop… They’ve gone too far.
What do you think of the term people of color, since I believe you aren't white?
It’s a lazy, all encompassing term for non-white that SJWs like to beat people over the head with. I don’t appreciate being used as ammunition by unscrupulous asshats that have repurposed “the coloureds” in an attempt to sound noble and concerned. And yet when I approach people as a fragile, “woman of colour” apparently made of fucking glass, they don’t even acknowledge me.
This seems like a bad idea
Those requirements are there for a reason… :\ and I assure you that the reason is not “the patriarchy” -_-;
Not only undermining the achievements of the women who have worked hard enough to be suitable for the job and pissing all over their efforts, but ultimately removing an important requirement in place to ensure only people physically capable of carrying it out are employed in this capacity. This won’t end in tears at all. It’s a brilliant idea and not at all dangerous.
