Why should Delhi continue Odd-Even and NOT!!
I speak for myself!!
Like many, I too spend a substantial amount of time travelling between my home and office located 27km apart. Metro or DTC does not connect them directly. Midway is where my wife works and we have a delicate time balance where I drop her and pick her up. We also need weekly visits to malls and multiplexes in our 2 year old love marriage. I drive a car daily. And yes, it runs on diesel as it’s more affordable for my 2000km/month usage.
Having said that, I support odd-even as I have been a witness to the increasing traffic jams and increasing pollution of Delhi. I celebrated 1st day of the year travelling across Delhi thanks to my car’s odd number. But then, I took a cab to work on Monday, not risking my punctuality at office. I used metro and DTC bus on Wednesday because I had now seen the cab cost.
Now, as per my experience, I have come up with following:
It takes way longer to reach my destination, as expected.
My daily travel, as I mentioned is 27km and not directly connected by DTC or Metro, costs me much more than what I spend travelling by my car. So we need better connectivity, infrastructure first to apply such ideas where at least money saved should make up for the time spent travelling.
Another very important thing is that our metro stations and bus stops are not very smartly planned near each other and neither they are connected properly. It’s not USA I’m talking about but I have been to Dubai where metro stations have web-like walkways spread across them leading to important buildings and connection points; they are air conditioned and well lit. They also provide location for small and big vendors.
We have to reduce pollution because it is at alarming levels. Now, to reduce pollution, I have left my car home and I am exposed to Delhi’s air because I have to walk at times, and also stand at bus stands, travel in buses. At this pollution level, we first have to reduce pollution by some other approach, or we need infrastructure mentioned in point 3.
Has anyone considered the reason for this year’s winter being overwhelmingly polluted to be absence of rain? Rain cleans air. All we need right now is a good rain which will clean the air and moreover, kick start the delayed dip in temperature. We have tested artificial rain in Pune for agricultural reasons, why not in Delhi?
I read in the news today that Govt has asked for data whether pollution has dropped in first week of odd-even or not, and if not (that is clear and evident), why not stop this trial on 8th Jan only? I was both disappointed and relieved by this news. I still support odd-even and I am ready to participate but a one-sided sword is not enough to cut through this thick pollution cover of Delhi.
Question:
What Car does not run on CNG, is not lady driven and still runs all across Delhi on all days?
Answer: Kejriwal’s Namash-Car
AMIR KHAN’s intolerance remark: How can we all and our media be frigging idiots??
-------------------------------
Boss to HR: Mr. XYZ should take better care of his health, he's taking too many leaves now a days. I might have to find a replacement for him which I don't want to given his great record. So his current health status asks for attention.
HR to Mr. XYZ: Boss says he will throw you out if you take another leave, and he does not care about your past record.
Mr. XYZ: F*** this boss and this company. How can the boss be so indifferent? Tell him to get a replacement while I sue him for exploitation.
--------------------------------
Investor to Company’s rep: Your co. is making bigger losses month after month. I have had my faith in company for years but these continued losses mean there’s something wrong and we should work towards getting back to profits as earlier.
Rep to CEO: Sir, that investor wants his money back as he has no trust in us.
CEO: To hell with him, tell him to collect his money and leave. We’re better off without such a****les.
--------------------------------
AMIR KHAN: There’s growing intolerance in INDIA now a days. My wife even suggested we leave for our and our children's safety which is a very grave thing and I am highly concerned about the state of society.
Media: Amir’s wife suggested him to leave country because of growing intolerance.
People: F*** that bas***d. Make him go to Pakistan.
How can we all and our media be frigging idiots??
6 Reasons to visit the Bhangarh haunted fort on your next weekend…
1. The fort is actually haunted.
This is no second hand experience people, I visited and saw myself that fort was really haunted by not few but a whole mob of people. People who are like you and me outside the fort, will be possessed by the fort and will start taking absurd selfies, shouting for no reason on the staircases, scribbling their names and what not on the walls of a heritage site
2. The fort lures “everybody” in….
Yes, there must be some sort of black magic that we saw young couples, even newly weds roaming inside the fort like it is a romantic getaway. Ladies with one piece dresses and red chooras posing with pouts while trying to balance on their high heels on the uneven floors inside the old fort. I won’t blame them; they must have also expected it to be a lonely place where the guy might get a close hug from the scared girl. But like all the ghosts, they also looked equally disappointed for getting no privacy.
3. The ghosts you can’t see.
The fort is packed with people for the hours it is open to public and nobody is allowed to be there after 6 in the evening. So you can’t see ghosts in daylight because of the crowd and in the evening, well, you’re not allowed to.
4. The haunt daunting starts on the way itself.
The road to the fort from any nearest hotel or resort will scare some people off the midway only. For those bringing their own vehicles, I can’t say how much they regretted for trying their non-SUV cars on total off-road-broken-road-dusty-road-bumpy-road-too narrow-road conditions. For the other kind of fools like me who took a jeep safari, it was like a desert storm right on the roads that once were.
5. No one dares to go near the fort.
Since old times, people have kept away from the fort area so that in the future (i.e., now) people who are disappointed with the fort tour have no fallback or alternate plan. They didn’t construct no other tourist attraction nearby.
6. You need to control more than your screams.
No proper conveniences have been set up. I mean I also didn’t expect any but neither did I expect that crowd, nor those shop-on-a-bike vendors selling cold water wanting you to pee after some time. So, while you’re inside the widespread fort area, control you emotions.
For the positives, our stay at the nearby Umaid Lake Palace saved the day with the picturesque organic resort, their utterly delicious food served with a genuine smile. Moreover, the place doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket and was not crowded even in late October. Hotel staff suggested us to visit the nearby Step well “Chand Baori” and I must say it was a treat, especially after the tragic Bhangarh tour. If you’re (disregarding this post and still) travelling from Delhi, there’s a Burja Haveli just after Alwar that you can try for ethnic food (do try their Kanji-wada) and lodging. Haveli’s handicraft shop is also quite aptly priced. Whatever happens never let your travelling spirit die.
P.s. I was earlier going to name this post as “Trip Tricked to Bhangarh” but I was the one who made the plan and forced my friends into it so they rejected that title.
Tahir Shah’s Eye to eye
Proud to announce myself as the newest fan of #TahirShah. I can't stop humming his #EYETOEYE since I heard it first, four days ago... I have both the versions downloaded (with video) to my phone!! This guy has created a new genre and whatever that genre is (I don't know what it's called), he's 100% true to it... IN IT... He has inspired me at many levels... Those who have not seen his song, please go ahead and watch

The new buzZo in town!!
It’s not been very long since I got bitten by the travel bug and now, every time I am back from a vacation, it does not take me a month before I start planning another. This much of frequency in my “plans” have led me to explore new and new places to find ways where I can have a “different” holiday experience.
One such addition to my holiday experience came with this new app ZO Rooms. It is a portal that provides stay options at very good prices and mostly at locations important from points of view for all; students, business and leisure travellers in quite many important Indian cities for them already, with more coming...
All rooms are offered with a host of facilities, free wifi, parking and breakfast to name a few. I had seen an advertisement of a deal being offered on downloading the mobile app. So, I took no time to do that. Before going any further, let me take my time to praise the app itself. ZO Rooms app is an example of what an app should be like. Everything is right about it, the display of room’s interiors along with a map giving the room’s location has been fit so well. Words can’t tell what it looks like so here’s a picture for you!
The waiting/searching/buffering animation is also totally new and out of the box. And I would totally recommend you download it yourself to get the feel of it.
Now coming down to my first booking experience. It was so simple and fast to book, that I did it in virtually no time. However, it did not come out as beautiful as their app as I unfortunately booked a room that was ending its association with ZO Rooms the very next day. It appeared like a hell of big deal initially but I have to say, the ZO people handled it well and got me a similar room real quick with very little change of location and as this room was cheaper than what I had booked initially, I got my refund right back into my account.
I had my room booked and what was left now was the stay. The check in was pretty smooth and as promised, we enjoyed free car parking and breakfast served in room. Checkout was smooth and cashless as the room booking was prepaid and everything I needed was free!!
My overall experience was good with ZO Rooms and I would definitely use it again (I’m always looking for offers in these app based services so I allow the notification of the app ON). ZO Rooms, although being quite pocket-friendly, is reliable and recommendable. Will update this space in case I get any new offers from them. For now, you could download the app and find some for yourself..!!
Lesser known Attractions: Phuket
Following my previous post, here you will find some facts for a better Phuket vacation. First up, we did not take any package tour for either Bangkok or Phuket, which is the key to enjoying your holiday on your terms and avoiding the crappy and monotonous city tours. Also, I forgot to mention in my last post that almost all research was done using Tripadvisor.
In Phuket, as we did not have a tour package, we had to choose the mode of transfer to hotel. Most of the hotels are in Patong and Kata beach areas which are around 40km far from the Phuket International Airport. A taxi costs much more than the chartered buses but takes a lot less time. As we had landed in evening and had no plans for that evening, we took the bus to save money. It became a blessing as we got to see many important locations on the island as the bus had to drop different tourists.
Kata Beach
People who come with package tours will most probably get to stay at Patong Beach area. Obviously because it has everything you need to see in Phuket, the beach, the markets, the street shops, malls, cabarets, vehicle rentals etc. But we opted to stay a little further away from Patong beach as we found it densely crowded with hotels and shops. Kata beach, on the other hand proved heavenly. We stayed at Ibis Kata and the hotel is highly recommendable, with Kata beach and local market at walking distance.
Plus: There was all kinds of food, street shops open till late night, open bars with live food and live music was amazing.
Note: Tiger’s den and Dino Bar looked attractive and very alive although I don’t have a first hand experience of the inside. In short, Kata beach offers privacy and peace with all amenities.
John Gray’s Sea Canoe
The fans already know about this one!! You may find many cheap deals for sea canoeing in Phuket’s Phang Nga bay but John Gray’s is the Big Papa of all. It’s the first, original sea canoe company and is still the best with many packages to offer. We took the Hong by Starlight tour and it was worth every penny. Do not miss the photo-planktons while inside the dark caves. Find out more at www.johngray-seacanoe.com/.
Plus: The guides are so friendly and they serve you with all this love and devotion. Needless to say, they are proud of the number of returning tourists.
Note: If lucky, you might get to see the bird show and also get to row your canoe all by yourself.
Koh Mai Ton
This one is like my catch from the sea. I stumbled upon this while looking for some deals on Groupon Thailand. It is called the honeymooner’s delight, the love island and by many other romantic names. Known only to local Thai tourists, the untouched beauty of nature can be seen here. Few travel companies provide daily tours to this island. There are options of speed boats, yachts and slow boats. We took the yacht and it turned out to be the most unforgettable part of our trip. The crew will serve you with fresh fruits, unlimited water and soft drinks on the way. There will be a stop for amateur fishing in the middle of nowhere, followed by a snorkeling session at the hind face of the island. On reaching the destination, you will see a not much maintained resort that offers Thai food. You get enough time to spend on the beach as well. Our trip was booked at Flexs.info.
Plus: There’s a chance you might see some dolphins, but that’s a rare (we didn’t see any). The package price is inclusive of all activities and food. You can also enjoy scuba diving (inquire at resort for this).
Note: The crew members might not know any other language than Thai. Fellow passengers will help and translate.
Yamaha Tricity
Although not native to phuket, the seat of this bike was a special place where I enjoyed a lot. You might get many options from small scooters to cruiser bikes on rent but this unusual bike caught my eye. It has a pair of front tyres and a single rear tyre. Soon, we were making heads turn while we zoomed on this bike on phuket roads. A bike is a must have if you want to explore phuket on your own. A little extra charm never hurts.
Plus: It is available at roughly the same rent amount as any other small bike.
Note: The contact number of the guy who can provide you this bike is 0959640344. He’s located right in the market near Kata beach.
Lesser known Attractions: Bangkok
Just because I got around three months notice before leaving for my recent Bangkok vacation, I utilized that time researching about the place and what it can offer other than what it is already famous for...
Here I should mention that I went there with my wife and I am going to list things that you can enjoy with your spouse, a bunch of friends or even children. Please note that tickets for all attractions can be bought for quite a steep discount in advance at hotels2thailand.com. I can’t tell you how but we managed to cover all these locations within 2 days, that too not compromising on the amazing street shopping experience of Bangkok. We enjoyed Metro-rail, tuk-tuk ride and what not….!
Art in Paradise, Espelande Mall, Ratchada
Leaving all the super-famous malls of Bangkok near city center, we first went north. The Espelande mall on its fourth floor, hosts a place that gave the booster to our holiday spirit. It is an amazing 3D art museum where you can be a part of all the paintings and sculptures in the photos you click. You can check out more about it at artinparadisebkk.co.th. They also have one museum in pattaya.
Plus: There is no end to your imagination and creativity here, taking pics is really easy with directions given for almost all art pieces. Add nice and helping staff. We also got a free developed pic as a part of promotion on Valentine’s.
Note: You can surprise you partner and children by not telling them anything about this place before visiting as I did.
Madame Tussauds
Yes, Bangkok has its own Madame Tussauds museum. Right at the well known SIAM pentagon, it’s on sixth floor of the SIAM Discovery building. I don’t have to say much about the brand, but the one in Bangkok will have many statues of famous Thai people which not everybody can relate to; but that doesn’t mean they won’t have all the famous Hollywood celebrities, some from Bollywood and of course the Mahatma Gandhi, the Einstein, everyone’s there. Check out more at https://www.madametussauds.com/Bangkok/en/
Plus: The staff is friendly and they’ll take some professional clicks for you that you can get printed in various options at the exit. There are interactive games at some places that makes everybody feel like kids.
Note: The celebrity party room is the life of the museum.
Sea Life Ocean world
Previously known as the SIAM Ocean World, this attraction is also located at the SIAM Pentagon Shopping Center (in basement). This aquarium offers you everything in a small package, underwater tunnels, back of the house tour, glass boat ride + fish feeding. You can buy a combined package which includes the 7D theater show but in my opinion, it was the worst 7D experience of my life so please don’t ruin your otherwise great aquarium trip by including this show.
Plus: Everything is very organized. They had recently added penguins in Feb, 2015 when I visited. Don’t miss the different small frogs, and the chance to touch and feel a starfish (at a designated point).
Note: Again, do NOT take the 7D theater.
Asiatique, The riverfront
Now this one has the potential to become everyone’s favourite. It’s a street mall that opens in the evening (5 p.m.) and remains open till 12 midnight. As the name, it’s situated on the riverfront; gives a great view of the river and the lit buildings of Bangkok under open sky at night. There are various shopping options, don’t miss the fruit-art soaps and the paper-cut greeting cards. There at numerous eateries and ice cream parlors as well. We took the tuk tuk ride on our way back. You won’t believe the speeds it can reach on the empty roads of late night.
Plus: A ride on a Giant wheel, a bit pricy but worth it.
Note: Take the fish spa for your feet at your own risk. There’s always scope for bargain in Bangkok.
Bangkok SKY tower II
Also known as the Baiyoke building II, this is the tallest building in Bangkok and offers you a 360 degree view of the city from its 80th floor which has an open rotating balcony where you can just stand and see the sun setting at the horizon and the citylights slowly coming to life. You can buy a dinner package at their Baiyoke Hotel restaurant, or a cheaper package that includes a drink and access to the rotating balcony.
Plus: We also enjoyed some food from the Café of the Baiyoke Hotel, which was yummy and at a relatively cheaper price than expected in such hotels.
Note: Try to have perfect timing for the sunset to get both day and night views of the city.
While travelling it would be great to know what Metro stations are nearest to the attractions your are visiting. Also, it helps to stay at a hotel nearby a metro station. We stayed at Imm Fusion Sukhumvit near Metro Station On nut.
Watch this space for my next similar post on Phuket’s lesser knowns.
Happy travelling!! :D
Take Hit and Let Run
Not a new thing in Delhi that your car hit another. Not a new thing that it was not your fault. But this time, seriously it wasn’t my fault, I can say so because the other driver accepted that instead of stopping, he was abruptly turning his car as the other car in front of him suddenly stopped. Behind his car, though in a different lane, was unlucky me as he entered my lane right in front of me while applying brakes and his car’s rear slid with my car’s front entering a kiss ass situation. He looked back and I asked him to stop so that we could smoothly “de-kiss” the cars. But he was so frightened with the incident that he sped his car ending the kiss in a very ruthless way, scratching my car that he had already dented.
I chased him down after a kilometer or so and when I saw a traffic jam, I parked my car on the side of the road and ran on foot to stop him realizing that I had parked right in front of a “No parking” sign while getting out of my car. So, I ran and Boy, I had forgotten to run like this since a long long time! My legs impressed me, so did my choice of BMW sports edition PUMA shoes.
Reaching him, I knocked on his car’s window and asked him to roll down, which he didn’t. I tried opening the door and lo, it wasn’t locked, what a fool..!! I told myself that my kid bro does the right thing always reminding me to lock the car doors, which has now become a habit. I asked the car driver to park the car on the side, which I knew he was not going to do until I sit in his car; so I did that. I sat on co-passenger seat and handed him his lunch box that was sitting there before me and had heated the seat adding to the level of discomfort from the noise of his desi abuse that I had to stop by telling him that I did not want a case of road rage. I only wanted to assess the damages before he flees. I managed to make him park his car and I took him to my car and showed him the damages that he refused to pay for, even after accepting, yes that’s what I was talking about, he accepted that he turned the car abruptly trying to save his car’s front when he changed the lane without indicating and also applied brakes. As I wanted him to pay for the damage, I ran to a traffic police constable posted nearby and asked him to scold that man and make him pay for damages as he had already accepted his mistake. Now, that constable, my only ray of hope, comes to the car and says in front of both of us car owners that he can’t do anything in the case and the complaining party should call a PCR. Now just to scare that man to pay me, I even called on 100 and did my part of the idiocy. There he was, running towards his car, and there I stood waiting for the PCR in scorching sun of May, to which now I think I could have waited inside the car in A/C as well. So, the PCR actually came within 5-10minutes and took an account of the situation and then asked me to report the nearest police station as well. I, knowing this would result into “nothing”, went to police station as well just to see how it works out to “nothing”. There, I had just started telling about the incident and Wow, they already knew! and had even appointed a police officer to the case. So, I was sent to that Police officer and started the discussion about what could be done. Here were my options, either I could file a legal complaint which would assure that I end up paying about 10times the money I could repair the damage with, along with my time during the process of the hearings of the case in the court, also for which I will have to first go to another police station which was nearest to the place of kiss-ass incident and not the place where I called the PCR. My other option had me writing down a page briefly mentioning the incident and stating that I did not want a legal action after the call I had registered, which lead me to my “nothing” happening. But how can I just digest that? So, I decided to fuel my blog after a really long absence.
So here’s my favorite part from the movie “Go Goa Gone!” What do we know, what did we learn?
We know that police can’t help in such small situations. We know road rage is bad and we can try to get money for damage only after confirming that other driver is also alone, older, fatter, and already frightened. We learnt to keep calm but not let that calm take over the situation or the other person either takes advantage of it, or flees. We also learnt that the police system in Delhi is not so bad. Just that the crime should be of a “certain level” to be “dealt with”(not too big level as well I guess). We err, I learnt that I can still run so well which I can’t stop thinking about and feeling proud. Also, I learnt that I should keep my blog active or I will not a find a reason to pay for the renewal of Lohitkhera.com next year. ;)
P.S. His was a Grey Swift DL5C H 4861. I even clicked a pic of his car so that I don’t forget the number. Isn’t that great? :p
Security Guard
She could easily use metro or any other means of travel in our well connected capital city; but we made it a point while searching for job for my wife that it has to be on the way to my workplace so that I can daily drop her and pick her up from just at the gate of her office building. She’s young, about to complete first year of marriage. She’s not new to Delhi but she has that hesitation to drive herself in Delhi traffic. With such evident crime rate, it’s only smart to be careful at every step. Finally we found the perfect workplace for her and so much motivated, she cleared her interviews and got the job. The office where she had to join was in an area well known to me, but form outside only. I never had a chance to visit that industrial part from inside. Although I had figured it on Google Maps, we still left home early to avoid traffic as we had to find the exact address. We were successful and reached the Googled address 10mins prior to the given time. The nervous face for the first day of office got a little smile. I rolled down the glass of our car and asked the old man to confirm if it was the building we were looking for. He looked like a security guard, who had just finished his duty, wearing the same pant and shoes, but a t-shirt instead of his duty-shirt. He told in a quivering yet confident voice that we had come a little off-direction and he started making hand signs to guide us to correct address. I could hardly understand the routes on those unknown streets, but I could notice the smile on my wife’s face was short-lived as Google Maps were once again, proven wrong. The man suddenly stopped giving me directions and said that he could come with us to guide us. To make that decision to let a stranger into my car, I speedily ran through all the exercise: looked at the back seat to ensure nothing worth stealing was there, recalled that he even mentioned the only one known landmark that had to be just next to the office, and he had just guided a lady and her son into the building he was in front of, also that he talked really politely repeating the words “Beta babu” again and again and lastly, that he was a skinny old man that I could tackle in case anything goes wrong. I looked at my wife once more and decided to let him in. To make sure I made no wrong decision, I asked him is it really ok with him to be bothered this much, to which he replied that the address is nearby and he was off his duty and will make his way from the other location as well as he knows the area totally, working there for last 20 years. It didn’t take more than 4-5mins for us to reach my wife’s office. He made me roll down his side’s glass and talked to an on-duty guard and ensured he had gotten us to correct place. Before I could slowly turn my car into the smaller side-street, I noticed him opening the door. He got down, I was already thanking him when he came over to the front window and requested to roll down. As soon as he did that, I knew that he was not a crook but he was going to ask for some money in exchange of his help. I has seen such faces before, so many times that I started thinking of how much should I take out of my wallet and get rid of him to drop my wife. He started by saying “Beta Babu, Hum apse bas ye kehna chaahte hain k desh ki seva do (2) prakaar se hoti hai, ek wo log hain jo wardi pehen k seva krte hain, jaise police, fauj, aur ek hm log krte hain, jo k ‘dress’ pehni ho k nahi, lekin ‘dress’ ke ‘decorum’ ko ‘maintain’ karte hain. Bees (20) saal se okhla mein alag alag company mein security ka kaam kiya hai. Bas yehi kehna tha Beta Babu.” (Translation at the end) And he just started walking away. I said “Thank You Uncle” once more while I found myself in gratitude, a feeling of respect; and regret for what all I was making up in my mind. I was now wishing I could talk to him longer, show him my respect, maybe even get to know more of him. Having no such option, I went ahead to drop my wife. Her office was around the corner, I could see a Maggie-cum-smoking point. My feeling of gratitude towards that uncle had not gone yet, and there was a new fear telling me that while picking her up in evening, I will not wait for my wife away from her office but daily bring my car till here to make sure she gets in fast, safe. While driving back as I reached the point where I had dropped Uncle, I started thinking of him again, that bright face, fair complexion with wrinkles that could make a perfect portrait, and the way he looked from his back while walking away in what appeared to me as a pride he took in serving someone. I told myself that in case sometime I got late to reach here, this street would also have a number of security guards serving their nation in their own special way.
Translation: “Dear son, I just wanted to say that there are two ways of serving the nation. One is how they do in uniforms like police, army. Other is like we do, wearing uniform or not, but maintain the decorum of the dress. I have been working in this area for 20 years as security guard in different offices. I had to tell just this much.”
2. 10. 14. Bang Bang!!
Firstly, this is not a review, and I’m not going to suggest you to watch or not to watch the movie. I am not going to rate or score it. I am simply going to put in front of you what to look for and what’s avoidable. In the very beginning of the movie, you see Danny who I think shares the same youth tonic as our Bolly diva Rekhaji ;) . He portrays the negative lead role, which he carries as neatly as his any other performances, apart from the fact that his screen time was lesser than Hrithik’s sixth abdominal muscle. That’s why I agree with Anupama Chopra on “this movie is a female fantasy” as there is no rationing on Hrithik’s body show, his dance moves, his deep eyes and what not. The very second scene shows Katrina bathing. Hmmmmmmm…….. But you’ll see, the scene was already not revealing anything further than “She is bathing”, when suddenly our own Vicky donor’s dadi ( Byalee (42) inch LED fame ) comes in and steals the show, much prettier, hip, cool and even sexier than Katrina at least in this movie. I love you Dadi!!!! Now you know it’s not a male fantasy, as most sensuous of Katrina’s scenes seem like they’re copied from her Choc-On advertisement that plays in the interval. Talking of copying, the plot, sequences and even some dialogues are straight away taken from Knight and Day, but for those who have not watched Knight and Day, there are two good news. One, they will find Bang Bang more Paisa-vasool and two, they can watch Knight and Day now and like it better and find it more time-vasool (not paisa vasool as nobody’s gonna buy the disc I know :p ).
I went to watch this movie not thinking of it as a remake of a Hollywood movie I have watched like ten times and that helped a lot. I had no major issues with anything in the movie except Katrina’s playing nearly “beauty only” package while I read almost daily in the news that women need to play smarter, stronger characters in movies. My disappointment comes form the fact that they were copying a Hollywood movie, from where they’ve maintained the male character and diminished the female lead’s importance in the story; and that even the beauty package is not sufficient lol. Futher, I have one more complain, the deserving location of Kohinoor diamond is told to be London by an Indian patriot in one dialogue. Not a major issue… but you know… just… kinda… okay… let it go.
So, overall, watch this movie for Hrithik, and…. Well…. Hrithik. Oh yeah, and if you also love Vicky’s Dadi!!! Mmmmmwaahhh!!! All n all, I would give a 3 out of 5 rating, out of which 1.5 belongs to Knight and Day. I know I said I won’t rate, but I watched the first day show, and I wrote so much, how can I not rate it now…? ;)
The CHEF serves well to eyes and More…
Already released in U.S. in May, the movie had its first screening in India yesterday as a paid preview before its release today. I watched it with my wife at PVR Select CityWalk yesterday night and it was such a great experience. You can watch the trailer on YouTube and read about the storyline on wiki. I am gonna try and it without revealing much about it here.
As the name suggests, I was expecting to see a lot of food being cooked and the professional art of it; and I was not disappointed. The best thing about it was that the writer-director and co-producer, who is also the lead – Jon Favreau – has taken care that every character in his story comes out “beautifully cooked”; including the two minutes cameo from Robert Downey Jr. Yes, being a fan, I was also hoping to see more of him as I watched the trailer but his role being short does not decrease chef’s flavor. The movie has a lot to offer, a broken marriage going rebound, a father-son duo, friendships; the chef once also has to confront his ex-wife’s ex-husband. Importance of Social media is also well depicted; one can destroy himself unknowingly and one can make use of even the negative publicity to make a comeback.
The all-happy mood of the comedy and the delicious food being served all along gave us the appetite to storm to Johnny Rockets in the same mall, which served us with full enthusiasm even when we entered the restaurant just five minutes before their closing time.
Onion rings and the drinks could not last until I took out the phone to click this. I will surely visit again with an even bigger appetite to try other offerings in their menu.
Good food after a good movie with good company….. it set my mood so good that I didn’t even feel bad for the Rs. 300 penalty I had to pay for the loss of parking ticket :p
