(TW: Infertility)
Lola started her life in Los Angeles to parents who couldn’t afford to keep her, deciding to put her up for adoption before she was born. She was adopted by a loving couple who couldn’t have children, they were in the entertainment industry and they had been looking for a baby for a long time, after Lola they started adopting children at any age. At three months old she got sick, incredibly sick, she was going downhill and no matter how much was done for her she was constantly in pain. Eventually it was realized she had a massive tumor in her uterus, she was a year old and went through a major surgery to remove her uterus and save her life.
She eventually made it through everything that had been thrown at her, for such a young age she’d survived and that was something her family was incredibly proud of. Her parents began adopting other children when she was one, picking up a five year old sibling, they’ve been finding children ever since at any age. Eventually she started displaying signs of being a great child actor, but she wasn’t interested in getting into the business like her family was. That was until they heard her sing, at thirteen she found her voice and her parents began signing her up for signing shows.
On a show similar to The Voice she was selected and it only went up from there, she was catapulted into stardom using the pseudonym Starling. She found herself in the limelight and being pushed and pulled in every direction. For years she went on tours, she skyrocketed through the charts. Eventually she went back to school, donning a wig and avoiding giving up her identity in order to preserve her genuine school experience.
She decided art school was the right push for her future, and while art wasn’t exactly her niche it gave her a few ideas of where she could take her path. She discovered a love of using art to create clothing, channeling her efforts into designing pieces that went very against the grain of modern society. It was here she had a second realization, that she didn’t want to live under the feminine umbrella, while she still loved her own femininity, it didn’t align with what she wanted to be seen as, opting to also use they terms on occasion gave her more comfort.
She met Olivia in school, and it was very quickly realized by Lola that this was the woman she was going to love forever, it wasn’t something that burnt slowly, Lola just knew. She asked Liv out on a date within a month, they’ve been sailing ever since. Eventually Lola revealed her identity to Olivia, once they were out of school and moving past everything. This coincided with her revealing her secret identity to the world also. At first it didn’t go well, naturally being told one thing and being something completely different is hard to wrap your head around.
Lola let Olivia go, to take as much time as she needed, eventually though they found their way back to each other, and Lola took Olivia with her everywhere she went as her support. At twenty Lola proposed to Olivia, and a couple of years later in an incredibly high profile wedding, they were married. Lola stepped away from the limelight at twenty four, focusing on making a family and the fashion that she’d been working on in art school and with a designer aside from her singing career.
Now she’s focusing on building a family with Olivia while struggling with fertility, she wants to carry a child, but she has just found out about the hysterectomy she had at such a young age, she feels like her world has begun crumbling around her and try as she might, she still is stuck in the headspace thinking that everything that has happened is her fault. That she’s put all this burden on Liv now.
