9/50: Student's hidden creativity. The kids in South Korea study so much. Too much if you ask me. My first few months teaching were so difficult because I'd give my students projects that were somewhat open ended. My favorite if which was the onomopoeia assignment (they had to make a comic about anything they wanted but needed to use at least 5 English onomopoeias). At first my students struggled hard to come up with ideas and/or to even properly do the assignments. But knowing they rarely are given the chance to freely express themselves, I kept on with projects that allowed them to do so and over time their work improved. My students are all full of unique ideas. This was from my art middle school. One of my 2nd grade middle school classes is watching Okja in my class and before we started the second half today one of my students drew these. Sometimes I worry about my art school students. Sometimes they complain about their majors and it reminds me so much of my time at Uarts. But they're so talented and I know they'll continue to shine. I hope all my students continue to find their own unique identities and creative ways to express them. (at Jeonju)
