This is hard because I dislike both episodes equally š
The Zit episode took it way too far in terms of toilet humour. I can handle the parts about the pimples, but the whole balloon Pac fiasco? What poor Cyli and Spiral went through?? Nah. That scene alone is a source of shame in the show for me lol, like whenever I meet people who show an interest in the show, I get both happy and a little nervous for their sake. I gotta warn them of the obviously poorly done parts, but I ESPECIALLY fear for their sanity when they get to the Zit episode š
Initially, I'd vote for "New Girl in Town" being the worst also because of Elliptica (cuz I'm a biased shipper lol) but like sphercle-peeps mentioned, Elli is not a bad character on her own. She's sweet and her character is compelling enough to love. I just hate that her reason for existence (and the existence of the episode) was to be a shoehorned love interest for Pac. And this came in RIGHT at the end of the show, as if it was a last-ditch effort for viewers to gain interest in the show in order to continue making it. The attempt at romanticising Elli and Pac is what made me dislike the episode. And that's not even covering the weird loophole with Elli being Pac's adoptive cousin! I call it a loophole because MAYBE the writers thought that it could work because the two are not cousins by blood, and Rotunda only 'adopted' Pac by word of mouth and not through official papers or something. It's weird because the writers didn't take some of the plotlines seriously and retconned a lot of stuff, so I also wouldn't be surprised if they decided to ditch that bit of canon where Rotunda adopted Pac and decided to throw Elli and Pac together anyway.
Also, HARD AGREE with the points mentioned about Elli's possession, Pinky's character, and the voice actor thing. Honestly haven't thought of these before, now I like the episode even less š© I'm on the fence about what Pac said about Elli packing her bags and leaving: on one hand, it is very unlike Pac to be so mean! But on the other hand, I can understand where he comes from because he was just given a huge lead on his parents' whereabouts after he's searched for them for so long. He was given hope, and when it seemed like Elli was not taking the matter seriously and only meant it as a joke (when actually she was possessed), he got frustrated and probably felt like he was given false hope, or that she was purposely playing with his feelings, which led to him stomping off and saying something so hurtful. (I explain this a bit more in here)
So overall, "New Girl in Town" always gets a visceral reaction out of me, and it would've been my initial vote.
But then I thought more about the Zit episode. Of the Balloon Pac scene in particular, and that scene alone is cause for disdain for the whole episode. So the Zit episode it is lol.
