Billy: I promise I wonāt make a pact with a demon.
Teddy: I donāt completely believe you, but thatās okay.
āI get anxiety. I donāt think Iām good enough. I donāt like myself, even though I know ā rationally, I know ā doesnāt matter. I have bad days. Bad thoughts. And sometimes⦠sometimes, yeah. Theyāre hard to fight. But I donāt let them win every day.ā

If you could tell your muse one thing, what would you tell them?
People love you! Believe them, and let them.
If you could āborrowā one aspect of your muse and apply it to yourself or your own life, what would you borrow?
Iām assuming I canāt just say his magic, because⦠I totally want his magic.
I hope it doesnāt sound egotistical to say that I think Billy and I are very much alike personality-wise, but I do wish I had his tenacity. I feel Iām much more timid and prone to giving up on things that challenge me than he is.

Why do you think you connect to your muse?
What aspect of your museās personality is most important to you? What aspect of your museās personality do you think is most important to them? Is it the same? Why or why not?
If you had to judge your muse and sentence them to a āfairā fate, what would your judgement be? Would you punish them? Reward them? How?

captain america and major awkward :: steve & billy
He knew the second that Billy made that small noise that he had made the connection. He sighed softly and ran a hand through his hair, easily forcing a little smile. It wasnāt even that he didnāt want Billy knowing that he needed help, he wasnāt above asking for help. He just wasnāt very keen on the whole world knowing that they didnāt quite know what to do with Bucky. That would cause panic, and the country already didnāt trust Buck enough.
Though he couldnāt quite hide how quickly his face fell when Billy said he couldnāt help. He didnāt know what to say for a moment, so a silence fell upon them as Steve thought of the right thing to say. He couldnāt get emotional over this, it was unprofessional and unfair of him to pull Billy into something that he didnāt feel comfortable doing. But on the other handā¦.
āYou canāt do anything? Even if itās just minor?ā he asked quietly. āIt doesnāt have to happen all at once. It could be a couple of sessions or something, I⦠I just want him back. Iāll take whatever you can give us. I just donāt know what else to do.ā He instantly felt guilty for throwing all of this on Billyās shoulders. He shouldnāt have given him all of this responsibility and pressured him into it. Now if something went wrong, Steve would blame himself.
āBut if youāre really not comfortable, we can figure something else out.ā he said after a moment, putting his hands in his pockets with a small smile.
Oh no. Ohhhhh no. Billy couldāve guessed, but this was proving it: genuine Captain America disappointment was absolutely a hundred times worse than any kind of parental disappointment heād ever experienced.
āI mean⦠ā Billy let out a breath, barely shaking his head as he rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously, other hand stuffed deep in his pocket as they kept wandering the path. āIām not saying I wouldnāt be willing. I just would want you and⦠this person to know the dangers, and all. Maybe if I could meet with them, and uh⦠I dunno. Talk it out. If he-- that person. Would be okay with it, or⦠would even want to.ā
He glanced hesitantly up at Steve, but there was no fear in that look; only some poorly contained hope tinged with excitement. Billy didnāt feel like he had anything to fear from the Winter Soldier -- at least, not yet. He only didnāt want to be invasive, as he had the frequent tendency to be. No one even knew where the Winter Soldier was, but Billy wasnāt going to be in the least surprised if at least Steve Rogers did.
speech skill increased to level 20 :: tommy & billy
Tommy was surprised by the offer, but he accepted the controller. Hey, this could be fun. They were just two normal brothers with normal hobbies. Besides, heād been really good at MarioKart when the team was still hanging out in the warehouse, this should be basically the same right?
āHey, I bet I can do better than you. Skyrimās the one with the portals, right?ā Tommy asked, looking at the controller with a frown. āHow do I run?ā he asked, trying to move and accidentally opening up the menu. āJustāhold on, give me a minute,ā he said, managing to make the character move and then immediately pitching him off the side of a cliff. Tommy watched the screen intently while the death animation played. āIs that good?ā
āI mean, it⦠could be worse,ā Billy figured, unable to suppress a slow grin as he watched the character ragdoll its way down the rocky mountainside. āIāve done plenty of that when I get impatient and donāt want to use the actual path down the mountain but misjudge the distance when I jump.ā
As Billyās well-armored character arrived in a jumbled heap of limbs and weaponry at the bottom of the mountain, he put one hand over his heart and delivered a solemn eulogy. āHere lies Beleg CĆŗthalion, Dovahkiin, last of his kind. He is survived by his werewolf husband, war dog, and demon horse, and probably didnāt have the best depth perception. Rest in pieces.ā As if on cue, the loading screen briefly appeared before resetting the character at the top of the mountain, none the worse for wear.

When he was younger, Billy saw a magician swallow a penny and pull it out of his assistantās ear. Billy enthusiastically swallowed a penny to replicate the trick, but had to wait a little longer for the payoff.

Heās super-glued no fewer than five or six miniatures to his fingertips, but never seems to learn enough to try and figure out a different way to do things.

Billy tried to use his magic to clean his room when he was exceptionally tired one night, but slurred his words and summoned some kind of off-world demon instead.

āNerd. Hmā¦.Campy maybe? Or you can be a cosplay Queen.ā She mumbled, rubbing her chin dramatically as she thought. āOr you know, weāll just make our own kind of queen! The Billy kind!ā
She nodded quickly at his question, a full out grin forming on her face. āOf course I would! I like making stuff. Kinitting, sewing, baking. Iām kinda good at it. God knows I couldnāt go to school for it, but I love doing it in my past time.ā Quickly, she pulled her phone out, flicking through pictures until she found a few of her designs. āIāll make you something like this if you want? Except maybe⦠you knowā¦with the cape. Iāve always wanted to make something out of it, and Iām sure I could steal another one eventuallyā¦ā
āHoly shit,ā Billy replied simply as he took a look at the picture she offered, a grin spreading across his face as he leaned in close. āIs that sacrilegious? ⦠do I care? I canāt even wrap my brain around wearing a gown made out of an Asgardian cape.ā
He tucked his feet under him and leaned his elbows on the edge of the big chair to keep close to Darcy, still grinning like they had a ridiculous secret -- which, they kind of did. āIs that what you do for a living? I know you said you didnāt go to school for it, but. If you can make something like that --ā Billy gestured to the photo. ā-- it doesnāt look like you needed to.ā

captain america and major awkward :: steve & billy
Steve smiled lightly at him stumbling over his words and glanced down at his feet. He knew his presence as Captain America meant a lot to a whole bunch of people. He understood what the symbol of him as a person gave people. But it was always slightly awkward whenever anyone doted over him. He was still just human after all, and it felt strange to be this deity to some people.
But he knew Billy was harmless, he was just excited. So he smiled gently and shook his head. āYou never know. And please, call me Steve. The only person who calls me Captain Rogers is Tony when heās being a dick.ā he said with a small smile.
He watched the way Billy looked at him, finding it more endearing than creepy and looked around, making sure no one was looking at them before nodding to the little pond near them. āWanna take a walk? Iāve got some stuff I want to talk to you about.ā he said with a little smile before starting to walk.
It was a weird subject to bring up, but Steve wasnāt really one to be subtle so he just cut straight to the point. āSo, I read your file. I know you can do stuff to alter the way people view reality, and get in their heads about⦠whatever. Say someone had their head all jumbled up and was having a hard time deciphering what was real or not⦠could you help them straighten out their head?ā he asked. He didnāt want to use Buckyās name, but if Billy was as big of a fanboy as it seemed he was, Steve assumed that Billy would be able to make the connection.
Billy grabbed his bag and threw it over one shoulder, hurrying to fall into step beside Steve and walk with him along the path towards the pond. Lots of practice keeping pace with Teddy was also super helpful to him here. He listened with rapt attention and frequent nodding, but when Steve rounded out the sentence his eyebrows shot up, and he let out an āohā that was little more than an exhale -- and probably illustrated to Steve that Billy had swiftly made said connection.
Other than that quiet noise, Billy didnāt respond for quite a long moment, lost in thought as he walked and started to chew at the corner of his lip, eventually shaking his head. āSir, I-- Steve,ā he corrected, though the name came out with some awkwardness, like it tasted weird to him. āI gotta be honest with you, itās not something I like to mess around with. I only really have with myself, and my own⦠issues,ā Billy finished delicately, with absent consideration for what of that might or might not be in his file. They probably had access to his medical records, right?
He shook his head to clear it. āWhat I mean is⦠yeah, I can do some of that stuff, but I just⦠I donāt know. I wouldnāt want to try and help this⦠totally 100% hypothetical someone, and do more bad than good. Yāknow?ā
uncertain origins :: erik & billy
Erik hated having to sneak into the mansion just to see his friend. Charles asked for an occasional visit from the master of magnetism for a number of reasons ranging from needing Erikās help in certain scenarios to needing someone to vent to. Charles knew he had other students he could talk to, like Scott or Ororo, but no one quite understood the way Erik did. With Erik being semi-retired these visits kept him sane. That didnāt mean coming here was ever easy.
The most obvious obstacle was the mob outside the schoolās gate. They were easy enough to deal with, but Erik had to stop himself from flinging bits of sharp metal at them. The second obstacle was having Charles block Erikās presence from every student. No one consciously saw him enter or exit the building, which was for the best considering Erikās notoriety. This all happened with some regularity, and Erik would sit down in one of the plush leather chairs in Charlesā office as though he belonged there. He did once, but that was a lifetime ago.
Charles picked up on his brief sentimentality. āBit nostalgic today, are we?ā Erik rolled his eyes. āAny chance of you ever not being in my head?ā āI canāt help it that your thoughts are so loud,ā Charles said with a small chuckle. Erik just stood up and fixed himself a drink, grumbling a half-hearted insult into his glass. He fixed another glass for Charles, but stopped at seeing the blank and thoughtful expression on the telepathās face. āSomething wrong?ā he asked quietly. Charles just shook his head. āNo⦠Just a new visitor⦠And a hesitant one at that.ā
A smirk slowly grew on Erikās face. āWell? Go on then, be Godās gift to mutant kind and welcome that poor soul in.ā Charles gave his friend a look before focusing his attention on the hesitant young man lingering outside of his home. āHello, William. My name is Charles Xavier. Donāt be alarmed, I assure you that Iām not poking around in your mind. Iāve just temporarily linked our minds so that we could talk for a bit. Would that be alright?ā Charles was still as he spoke to William. Erik sat quietly, relying on Charlesā micro expressions to tell him how the talk with the hesitant young man was going.
Billy had just about made up his mind to head back to the city and was turning heel to head down the paved walkway when there was a warm-toned voice in his head. He gasped loudly enough that a couple of the students milling nearby gave him an odd look.
āWhoa. This is⦠ā He realized he didnāt have to talk out loud, and indeed that he probably shouldnāt, if he wanted to avoid even stranger looks. Billy hesitated, then tried again, screwing his face up slightly for the effort.
āYeah, thatās⦠definitely alright. Iām⦠Iām Billy Kaplan, but-- you already know that, because of course you do, youāre Charles Xavier,ā Billy admonished himself, trying to get his thoughts together. āI mean, Professor Xavier. Iām sorry, I donāt⦠mean to be trespassing, or showing up unannounced, I just⦠ā He hesitated again, swallowing hard and still white-knuckling the strap of his bag. āI was hoping someone could help me. I have⦠questions.ā
That was the understatement of the century.
