How she had managed to get herself lost in London was beyond her, but form what she could tell, she wasn’t just lost as to where she was, but when she was. The buildings certainly didn’t speak of the modern era she was from nor did the manner of dress. She was getting strange looks already, not to mention the dirty glances when she’d accidentally bump into some poor bystander. If only she could figure out how to get home. She’d learned very quickly that Pokemon were most certainly not a thing in that country.Â
With a noise that was akin to an annoyed sigh, she dragged a hand through her hair, eyes darting around. Where in the world was she? She was supposed to be looking for a mechanic, but… Somehow she’d gone into the past. She’d been met with curious glances when she asked what year it was and… Well, she still had no idea wherever she was. A voice beckoned her attention and had her twisting mid-step, foot sliding along the pavement as she paused to listen.Â
Oh, her bag. Of course she wouldn’t have felt it fall from her shoulder. “I— yes, thank you!" There was that metallic grating to her voice that she was all too aware of. It had her making a noise similar to clearing her throat, as if she had some sort of cold. "I’m sorry, I  must not have noticed it slip from my shoulder.”
This girl was a little odd, wasn't she? She had an strange sort of fashion choice. It was certainly one that Clive had never seen before. That, and her voice when she spoke, made it pretty clear she wasn't from around here. Tourists weren't all too rare, but even when you spotted one among the crowds, they didn't stick out nearly as much as this girl did. And what was that odd noise he had heard when she spoke? That sounded like something he'd hear when working with machinery but... it couldn't have come from the girl.
"It's not a problem." Clive responded with a smile, waving the comment off. "It happens to the best of us sometimes. I'm just glad I managed to get it back to you before you wandered too far off." Otherwise, he probably would have wandered all over London looking for the owner. And heaven knows, that would have ended badly for both of them, in all likelihood.
"I'm Clive, by the way. Clive Dove." Normally, this would be the part where he would offer a handshake, but it sounded like the girl was a little sick just a moment ago, and he hardly doubted that would be worth catching. "Not to intrude, but are you new to London? You seem a bit lost, is all." 'A bit' was an understatement, really. Maybe he could help this girl somehow. After all, if anyone knew this part of London, he did. Running around for stories did give you a pretty good idea of the layout around the area.

Clive had been sort of rushed today, attempting to get his article in for the paper as soon as possible. In the end, it was worth it. There was plenty of daylight left when he finished dropping off the completed article for publication. Phew! Now, he could spend some time to relax. Before heading home, he thought he would drop by the bookstore and pick up some new reading material. It was a bit of a detour, but it was well worth it, and the walk in itself could be very relaxing after such a quickly-paced afternoon.
It's while he's walking that he notices something. It seemed that someone had dropped their bag on the ground. That was unfortunate. He'd hate it if he dropped something of his and lost it, so he quickly surveyed the area for someone who could have dropped it by mistake. The only person around was a girl not too far away, and she didn't have any bag with her. This could easily be hers.
"Excuse me, miss!" He called out to get her attention as he picked the bag up and rushed over to her. No, he didn't stumble and have to catch himself. Okay, yeah, he did.
"Did you drop this, by any chance?"
Yeaaahhhh, this was going the opposite of good. Especially, since, there was just no doubt in Luke’s mind that this was Clive. So what was he supposed to tell them? Oh, yes, hi, hello, we meet sometime in your future which, somehow, is actually ten years in the past for me. Because he had a feeling that wouldn’t work at all.
"Y-Yes! Oops, sorry, I mean no. You just remind me a bit of someone I knew when I was younger, is all. I’m er- very sorry for disturbing you." It probably wasn’t very gentlemanly to lie, but… Well, this was a special case, right?
This guy was lying. He wasn't even good at lying. Then again, Clive was fairly good at seeing through lies, being a talented liar himself. But this did bring up one question. This guy wasn't telling the truth, which meant that he knew him. If they knew each other, who was this stranger?
"Oh, it's not a problem. You didn't disturb me at all." Yeah, he sort of did, actually. If only through his strange behavior. But Clive was way too nice to say that. "Er- I'm Clive Dove, by the way. Who are you?" What a half-hearted attempt to find out who this guy was.
Ah, the streets of Paris were quite lovely at night, most of the time. In the middle of winter they were lovely if only in moderation. It was quite cold at the moment and Charlotte was busy on her way heading home after a particularly interesting investigation. Her lead had come up empty, as had most everyone else in the underground. It was quite worrysome…
But no matter, it wasn’t like she was going to give up! Though they made her uncomfortable she could always try the cafe, the twins had a talent for turning up things that nobody else did. She was confident she could track down this kidnapper and find out what happened to the heir of the noble what contracted her in no time flat.Â
What she hadn’t expected was to run into a boy who looked veeery familiar to her on her way home. He was speaking English, with an accent. Perhaps he’d lost his parents while getting off the ship? Though why he wouldn’t know where he was… “You’re in Paris France, couldn’t you tell by the tower?” And with that she pointed at Paris’ trademark building, clear as…er…night.
Wow. Wow, stranger. Don't you know that Clive is a Layton character and, therefore, can't look at the sky? If he did, he might notice things, like clockshops extending into the heavens and, you know, the Eiffel Tower. And we can't have that. It would ruin the excitement and confusion. You'll have to get used to this if you'll ever hang around Clive for more than a few minutes.
In other, much more important news, Clive was in France. Okay, yeah, it'd be pretty easy to call this an elaborate prank, but there was the fact that the Eiffel Tower really was there, looming over him like some sort of. mobile fortress? No, that would be ridiculous. But the fact of the matter was that he had somehow ended up in Paris without any idea as to how that could have happened. And he was panicking on the inside.
"Of course. I... meant a bit more specific." Nice cover. Just because Clive was panicking on the inside didn't mean that he had to let that show. He might freak someone out if he did that. Fortunately, he was a very, very talented liar, and could cover up his increasing anxiety very well, considering the situation.

Was that- No, it couldn’t be. Yeah, okay, so time travel was sort of possible that one time, but there was no way that kid over there could actually be Clive. Right? He was way too young. And, well, frankly, he looked too happy to be Clive. Still, there was… something about the kid that just-
Oh. Oh, god, did he notice him staring at him? Oh no, this was awkward. After all, it’s not like he could just walk away like nothing had happened! That would be like. The absolutely sleaziest thing in the whole world. Zero out of ten, not gentlemanly at all.
Well, I guess his only option was to make a complete idiot of himself.Â
"O-Oh! Uh. Hi." Smooth.
Alright, Clive, think you can go for a walk without something weird happening? You'd think that would be possible, but, nope, because something weird happened anyway. It was sort of hard not to notice that stranger over there staring at him. Did he know that guy? Clive certainly didn't recognize him, but the way the stranger was looking at him, it was like he had seem him before.
"Erm, hello there." He responded sounding maybe a little nervous despite his smile. It wasn't his fault. This guy was weirding him out to the max. Therefore, it was completely the stranger's fault. "...Have we met before?" a.k.a. 'Why are you staring at me?'

Okay, something is not right. Clive was just on his way to take a copy of the newspaper to a friend down the street, and somehow, he ended up completely lost. "Lost" could be a bit of an understatement, actually. Judging by the architecture and citizens, it was fairly obvious that he wasn't in London anymore, Toto. How did that make any sense? There's no way he could of walked right out of London just trying to go down the road!
Panicking wouldn't do anyone any good. He would just have to talk to someone, figure out where he was, and find he way back home from there. This was still very perplexing, but standing there lost and confused would just waste time. There was a girl nearby who didn't seem too much older than him, so he approached her with a smile and a tip of his hat. Time to ask some questions.
"Excuse me, miss. I'm afraid I've gotten myself a bit lost. Would you mind telling me where we are?"
