"I suppose I haven't changed much in appearance at all, have I?" Luke let out a small laugh. "Things have been going rather well for me, though. And for you? I take it the market business is still running pretty smoothly, eh?"
Alright, Clive, think you can go for a walk without something weird happening? You’d think that would be possible, but, nope, because something weird happened anyway. It was sort of hard not to notice that stranger over there staring at him. Did he know that guy? Clive certainly didn’t recognize him, but the way the stranger was looking at him, it was like he had seem him before.
"Erm, hello there." He responded sounding maybe a little nervous despite his smile. It wasn’t his fault. This guy was weirding him out to the max. Therefore, it was completely the stranger’s fault. "…Have we met before?" a.k.a. ‘Why are you staring at me?’
Yeaaahhhh, this was going the opposite of good. Especially, since, there was just no doubt in Luke's mind that this was Clive. So what was he supposed to tell them? Oh, yes, hi, hello, we meet sometime in your future which, somehow, is actually ten years in the past for me. Because he had a feeling that wouldn't work at all.
"Y-Yes! Oops, sorry, I mean no. You just remind me a bit of someone I knew when I was younger, is all. I'm er- very sorry for disturbing you." It probably wasn't very gentlemanly to lie, but... Well, this was a special case, right?

Ooohhhhh wow. Look at all of these people. Is this what it felt like to be popular? Dang, this was weird. Luke wasn't too sure how he felt about this. Either way, he couldn't exactly stand here gawking at the lot of them, now could he? Because that just wouldn't be gentlemanly at all.
"A-Ah..." Way to start out. Come on, loser, I thought you were past all of this awkward stuff. You're not a kid anymore, you know. "Hello everyone!" That's a little better. But not much.

Was that- YES!!! Yes, oh heck yeah, there he was. The man, the legend. Not... necessarily a good legend. Luke supposed Clive's legacy was one of infamy, in the end, but that didn't bother Luke at all, nope. Clive was, in the end, one of his closest friends from childhood.
"Oh, Clive!! It feels like it's been ages!"
Way to go, idiot. Way to not question why Clive doesn't look any older than the last time you saw him. Incredible. Number one detective??? Yeah, we're totally spot on with that one.

Really, really traumatized. Randall was an okay guy, but heck no, not while he was in that get-up!!! Maybe this was just some weird kind of practical joke???

Was that- No, it couldn't be. Yeah, okay, so time travel was sort of possible that one time, but there was no way that kid over there could actually be Clive. Right? He was way too young. And, well, frankly, he looked too happy to be Clive. Still, there was... something about the kid that just-
Oh. Oh, god, did he notice him staring at him? Oh no, this was awkward. After all, it's not like he could just walk away like nothing had happened! That would be like. The absolutely sleaziest thing in the whole world. Zero out of ten, not gentlemanly at all.
Well, I guess his only option was to make a complete idiot of himself.
"O-Oh! Uh. Hi." Smooth.
She could only hug the man back for a second before he moved away. Lynne’s cheeks lit up slightly and a nervous giggle spilled out. “I-It’s fine Luke… I really missed you.” And the woman really did. It was amazing to see both of them fully fledged detectives and everything. “You don’t have to call me detective, nerd.” She shot him a goofy wink.
"I can’t believe we are both here working on a case together. Isn’t this what we always dreamed of?" Honestly, what she always dreamed of was being around him when they were older… and here he was.
"Y-Yeah, I, uh..." Wow, she was making it really hard for him to be professional right now, jeez, stop saying such sappy things, Lynne! You guys are two, adult, super professional detectives. You need to stop acting like two awkward teenagers who aren't quite sure how to ask the other out to prom.
"I missed you too!" Congratulations, Luke. You finally said it. "Exchanging letters are one thing, but it's not quite the same as meeting face to face, is it? But this really is... Wow. I mean, look at you! You're a detective! And I am too, of course, but uh. Well, you know what I mean."

There was definitely a problem on Charlie’s hands. She knew the streets of Lumiose like the back of her hand. Every pathway. Every alley. And one thing was for certain: This place where she had found herself was certainly not a familiar street of Lumiose. She was sure that this was a different city entirely. The architecture was entirely different, the people were all dressed like they had walked out of some ‘blast to the past’ party, and no one around here was speaking even a bit of French. Not so much as a simple “Salut!”
To make matters even worse, her holocaster wasn’t being useful at all. She just couldn’t seem to get a connection. It seemed as though, unfortunate though it may be, she’d have to go old fashioned and talk to someone if she wanted to figure anything out. There was no shortage of people around to ask, but one man nearby looked amicable enough.
"Er, hello, sir." Charlie spoke as she approached the fellow. Man, was this awkward. "I don’t mean to bother you, mais I’m a little lost. Could you tell me where we are at the moment?”
Was that french? Oh man, this person really was lost, weren't they? Well, Luke'd been there. Many times, actually. Man, he got himself into loads of trouble when he was younger, didn't he? Thank god he'd had the professor there with him or he would have been lost every second of every day, most likely.
"It's no problem, miss!" Wow, he hoped he got their gender right. They... reminded him a bit of someone he'd met when he was a bit younger. Yeah, he was sticking with miss. He had a good feeling about this.
"After all, it's a gentleman's duty to help a lady in need. You're on St. Claire Street. As for the city we're in, it's none other than London, England."
When her supervisor had told her she was being assigned to work with a detective from London, she was a little excited. Though she usually didn’t like working with others (they held her down most of the time) she was always open to meeting new faces. She happily walked into the other’s office ready to give her welcoming speech. That was until she saw who it was.
"Luke?!" This was quite possibly her first and biggest crush when she was younger. He had been her pen pal for years until they lost touch. He looked so much more grown up… he got even more attractive since she last saw him. "Wow.. y-yeah it has been a long time! It’s really great to see you again.." A smile was coming onto her face as it became more real that he was here.
Yeah, wow, it was... It was really her! This was unbelievable. As the shock of the moment began to wore off, one of the young man's usual, bright smiles fixed itself to his face, just as it did when he was younger. He didn't think about what he did next. He just ran at her and hugged her really tightly for a few seconds before remembering that, oh. Yeah. They were supposed to be working on a case together?
"S-Sorry, I uh." He paused for a moment to clear his throat after pulling away from her. Let's try not to be as giddy as we were when we were a little kid, eh? "Ahem. It's nice to see you, detective."

It wasn't often that Luke got offered a case in America, but whenever he was, he offered it without a moment's hesitation. A chance to visit with his parents was always a warm welcome. Besides, he'd made quite a few friends while he'd lived there, as well!
There was one person he was never expecting to see here, though. Well, not without a warning, at least! Really, what were the chances of Luke running into his penpal while working a case?
"L-Lynne!" Brilliant way to greet an old friend. Stunningly incredible. Fantastic. "I-I mean, well. Hello, I suppose. It's been... forever! It's been ages." Twenty three years old and still he cannot stop running his mouth.

This whole strip is great, but I must express how much I love Layton’s right hand in the last panel, where he’s holding onto his hat brim. The hitch of the wrist and the curve of the palm into where the fingers hook around is just AWESOME. I have a thing for hands and I really like how you did that :)
