Hai!! New blog today, in which I plan to use for graphics! I am a blinkie fanatic, and I had no idea that Tumblr was such a hot spot for blinkies. On top of that, I’ve also seen my graphics reposted here many times! It’s very epic and kewl.
So anyway, I’m trying out Tumblr to post graphics. I have also been working on a massive blinkie collection site, where I am trying to add every (verifiably free to use) blinkie on earth! They’ll also be sorted into tons of categories, and all credited. It’s been my passion project for months now, so having an actual Tumblr for this will make finding these far easier. No more lurking on my throwaway account. I am now here to post and reblog!
I will make a better intro post when I further get accustomed here, but for now here is my DeviantArt, where most of my graphics are already available. I plan on putting all my graphics together on a site, but that’s not ready yet. I also make art and other stuff, which I probably won’t post here, but who knows? I could post really anything if I wanted to… We’ll just have to wait and see what becomes of this blog in the future
Hey all! I have come to a decision on when and how blinkie.world will go up. It’s going to take months and months to redo all the blinkies, so that’s why I’ve decided on a compromise! TLDR at the end.
So some time ago I did a poll on if you guys would rather the site be up sooner with less blinkies, or later with the original intended amount. Most of you agreed to have the site public sooner with less blinkies! I’m kind of leaning this way as well. I’ve been doing this nearly every day for over a year now. Of course I want people to see it! The downside though is that it’ll be a lot smaller than what I wanted to start with, but what if that wasn’t the case?
So, I’ve decided that I’ll make it public, AND have all the blinkies! This does mean that most of them aren’t going to have a dropdown menu, but they’re still functional without. All blinkies are still linked to their source regardless. I did say that having some with dropdowns and some without would be a confusing mess, but maybe not if they’re separated! Here’s what I’ve come up with:
In the footer there is a new button that says “toggle blinkies in progress”. If you click this, you can see all the blinkies that aren’t recoded yet!
It does feel a bit scrappy to me to have things unfinished just openly there on the website, but I also think I’m way over thinking this. I mean, most people don’t even credit blinkies at all! In fact, I practically never see a big collection of blinkies that are all credited. I have 5,543 blinkies up, and all of them are linked at the very least. I think it’s time I take a step back and realize that I’m actually in a pretty good spot right now, and that the site has been more than good enough to be public for a while. Besides, I have all the time in the world to reach my insane ambitions with each update! Rome wasn’t built in a day, after all.
So where does this leave us? This means that I’m going to wrap up some last minute essentials (formatting, links, typos, etc.), and then the site will go live! It will start with a handful of category pages too, and all the aesthetic pages! Some category pages are just really huge and I can’t wrap them up that fast, but I’ll add them in as they’re completed in future updates!
Because this version of the site is a bit cut down, I have opted to call it the beta version. You know, like a video game or something! Just like my main site, I am naming the updates in versions like a game because I think it’s cute. Plus, it fits perfectly! This is the version that’s not quite 100%, but it’s close enough that people can be let in to try it out! That’s basically exactly what this is. Then once I reach the 300 of each color goal like I wanted, and all the category pages are up, then that will be the official version one! Does it make much of a difference if I call it version one or beta? No, of course not, but I find it fitting.
Okay, okay. So, I’m cutting things down and fixing the necessities, therefore making the site functional for the public. Blinkie.world then goes public sooner, without having to cut down any blinkies! I think this is a good compromise. I’m very excited to finally have something to show for all I’ve done so far! It’s a very very long way before it reaches its full potential, but at least this way anyone can see the progression for themselves, rather than me just telling you about it.
Just give it a few days guys, and then I’ll make it public. I’m really really close now!
TLDR: Instead of removing blinkies that I haven’t recoded yet, I’m making all of them viewable on the site by clicking a toggle button. This way all 5,000+ can still be seen by anyone. I am taking a few days to make sure everything’s functional, then I will make the site public. New blinkies and pages will be added regularly and indefinitely.
Can you do some sky blinkies with big clouds in them? ^^ You did one before but I didn't see any more and I think they're pretty cool. I think you're pretty cool for making these too ^^
I promised Id make these for an anon a while ago but couldnt manage to due not being able to figure out how to put more than 2 colors on the little blinking bits, I have managed to do so now.
reblog if using and credit if reuploading please!!
Here are a handful of graphics I made of Femtanyl! First we got glitters (made using this site), then a blinkie, a favicon, and a background! I did not actually draw the background though. It's a pattern that I've seen lots around the web, but idk where it came from, and I couldn't find a repeating tileable version. So, this specific version is that pattern which I cropped until it was seamless!
Hey guys, check out these crayon blinkies I found! I got lost on the internet archive the other day and stumbled across all these on this site! I’ve never seen so many at once by the same person, and now I can finally credit some of these I was looking for! Namely, the two rainbow ones and the dandelion one.
Aside from these, I’ve posted all the other old crayon blinkies I found on this post! There’s also these that were made pretty recently, and I’ve made a bunch too! These are all the crayon shaped blinkies I have, I believe.
On a side note, I think this finally calls for a “crayon shaped” category! Previously I sorted them all into “colors” and “art supplies”. Now there’s so many that I think it warrants its own page, because then they can be easily found in one place and that would be so kewl…
