Okay so it turns out that Danny Phantom was the worst possible old show to get a sudden and inexplicable hyperfixation on, because apparently the fandom's been going full tilt since 2004.

Usually when I get a hyperfixation outta nowhere for a completed series, I spend a week, maybe two going through old fanfiction and fanart, and then I burn through what's left, and then I'm done.

Danny Phantom has a pile of fanfiction and fanart that's been growing steadily since, and I cannot emphasize this enough, 2004, and there are still people putting out multiple things every single day. I'm already like 20 AUs in and I've been up till 2:00am every single night this week because I've found a new enormous fascinating fanfic that was so good I could not physically make myself sleep until I finished it.

Behold, my biggest (and most time consuming...) endeavor!

It was a deep regret of mine that I wasn’t on the internet enough to know about the Rephanimated Project until the day it was released, since I would've loved to have been a part of it if I was around at the time. But alas, that's no one's fault but my own.

Anyway, I didn't think there would be another RePhanimated project (this was before the Bitter Reunions one was announced). So since Control Freaks is probably my favorite episode, I wanted to take a swing of my own at reanimating one of the shots.

A lot of times I wished DP was animated in a more detailed style, like the og Ben 10 or Teen Titans. Not that there's anything wrong with it as is, but sometimes I think that a little more detail in certain moments would've gone a long way. Like this one.

This is why I loved watching the RePhanimated project so much. So many people went all out in their scenes and for me it really brought the characters to life.

Also worth noting, this was my first time ever animating, so it was a fun challenge (even though I’m convinced making this 2 second clip has taken several years off my life 🥲). I’ve worked on it on-and-off since sometime in April. Admittedly I got very lazy by the time I got to the background, so my apologies if it looks weird or if the blending between it and the characters doesn't look quite right.

I really did try my hardest to make this one line hit harder. In hindsight I would've done some things different, but I hope I did it enough justice anyway.

I love when I’m reading a fic and it’s evident that the author has a favourite word/phrase/metaphor they like to use because it’s used again and again.

As a writer, I worry that people will find it annoying when I do this but as a reader I find it so endearing, it’s like walking into someone’s bedroom and its immediately obvious what they’re favourite colour is.

I think of it as the author's fingerprint on their work. It's authentic and human. Honestly, that's one of the things I love about reading fanfics over published novels.
