The moon is lonely on a night like this
And yet still, she shines on in a silvery bliss.
Earth’s moon can’t ever stop gleaming
And hide away in the wooly clouds like the Sun.
No, not when she must constantly be
a guiding light for everyone.
While it’s a welcome thought
that for many, she is the beauty in the darkness
and a reliable presence in the ghastly and cruel world,
it’s hard to be so counted on,
a shoulder for millions to lean upon.
How can she be there for everyone
when she’s still changing, still fading
and still piecing herself together?
She can’t, not really, not as well as she’d like to.
But still, she tries, because who else will if not the moon?
