Captions and Subtitles

Hey there! I feel like we need to talk about captions and subtitles on videos. A few months back I enabled the open source, fan made subtitle feature thingy on my videos so that people could contribute and help those who needed captions to watch my content. I would love to be able to caption all my videos as I know there are people in the community who really need them and rely on them but it’s a huge undertaking to do, so I opened it up to you guys to help out and be part of the videos a bit more.

However, some people have taken it upon themselves to taint them and add either their own commentary to my content or to even self promote in them now. Either be adding their own funny text, interpretations or answers to what I already say in the video or downright just saying “please sub to X”. I did not enable the feature for it to be abused like this. It was done for a legit reason and out of respect for those who requested subtitles. 

I know many of you here who read this aren’t the ones doing this and are very respectful of the captions on content but if you’re someone who likes to add in their own flavour text to content, please keep in mind that this is a valuable resource for many and in doing so you confuse and spoil it. I want to get my thoughts on this out there because it is not ok! and this not only goes for my content but many other youtubers too. Let’s keep the captions clean and accurate so we can all enjoy the same, equal content as each other :)

seriously what the hell.. just because you have had it bad doesn’t mean that someone else hasn’t. We all go through our own shit and it’s different for everyone. You may have had it worse than some people, maybe even including mark, but our feelings are all valid and it’s just not humane to belittle someones feelings like that just because you had it worse.

@markiplier has helped an INCREDIBLE amount of people. He donates a ton of money to charities who need all the help they can get. Fans from all around the world who suffer with different kinds of illnesses and disorders, whether physical or mentally, have come forward and said “Yes, this person makes me feel better about myself because they make me smile and they make me laugh, even at my lowest times.” 

No one in their right mind should say “well you’re an asshole because you’ve not had it as bad as I have”.

I want everyone to stop this. I did not mean to offend his fanbase. I run a little blog with 22 followers, and never once thought anyone would even notice me getting angry at the world. Yes, his videos do make me happy when I feel like fucking shit. You do not know my life. I would love to have a chat with you @monsterboyo, and explain my life to you. I really hate when people think I was looking for attention. I don’t even have anything to look forward to during the holidays, I don’t even have any friends. I’ve gotten hundreds of hate messages from people telling me to kill myself because I offended Mark and they are still coming in.

 I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. Its just my opinion that he has his life set, he lives in a nice big house, lots of friends. I think I am just mad because it was so easy for him to try and help people by saying what he did. My life will have never made any difference on the world. I know he donates thousands to charity and he has had a troubled past, but life made things fair to him by landing him with such a good future. That is what I meant. Life was not fair to millions of people who haven’t had a decent past, and never will in the future because of this damn mental illness. I am very sorry if I offended you and the fanbase. Mark is still my favorite Youtuber, and I will continue to watch his videos. Not once did I say he was an asshole or purposely offend him.

To anyone harassing @magiciandelphox because you think you’re “defending me” just stop. My response was a conversation and anything you add in private messages of hate are just bullying. It’s okay to have an open conversation about these things. It’s ok for someone such as @magiciandelphox to express their opinions on a matter and they should be able to do it without the risk of ridicule. Break this endless cycle in your mind where one person has to be punished for having an opposite opinion from you. Spread joy to EVERYONE. And that especially includes people you disagree with.

I just wanted to share how much of a spaz I became at PAX East 2016. This was my first time going to Pax East 2016 and I was making it my goal to meet@therealjacksepticeye @markiplier @lordminion while trying to be calm and collected…well I failed and I have memories i’ll never forget. I was also flustered because I had a gift for Jack but I forgot to bring it but thankfully some sweet girls on Sunday Helped me get it to him. Yay!
