Shield of Achilles. Designed by John Flaxman, Created by Bridge and Rundell,1821. Apollo is depicted in the center, surrounded by stars and female figures representing the constellations. The outer relief shows scenes of humanity - a wedding, justice, herders defending their herds, harvest time, a siege, an ambush and a banquet. The shield was modeled on the legendary shield made for Achilles described in Homer’s Iliad. Perhaps this will help those suffering from Game of Thrones withdrawal.
