when I say I listen to this song minimum once a day, I mean it.
undoubtedly, my favourite lyric is: But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss, I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs, the smell of smoke would hang around this long, cause I knew everything when I was young. I knew I'd curse you for the longest time, chasing shadows in the grocery line.
It’s beautiful, I know, but holy f*ck does it hurt. The mere idea that someone could have this type of impact on your body, mind and soul is both mesmerizing and gut-wrenching. Believe me, I’ve been here, I’m still here, in some ways I’ll always be here. Taylor is good at so many things but her ability to understand the human connection is other worldly. These lyrics are not only some of the best on Folklore, they’re some of the best ever.
Cold As You?
This is an underrated song , first of all.
Second, here is my fave lyric: “…and you come away with a great little story, of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you.”
One thing I’ve always thought about is how people who have been in my life talk about me. I think that we can all relate to going through a break up to where that person gaslights, or makes us feel like loving them was such a burden. This line really makes me feel so many things because of that.
this blew up on tiktok so here’s the best day of my life ✨

For the lyric, sad beautiful tragic
“In dreams, I meet you in warm conversation. We both wake, in lonely beds, in different cities. And time is taking its sweet time erasing you.”
It’s that feeling of knowing that in real life if you saw that person, you’d look the other way, or you’d be awkward and not really strike up a conversation, but in dreams you can talk to them effortlessly, and warmly, as if nothing bad ever happened. For a moment that seems real, until you wake up not even remotely near one another and realize it was a dream. Also, the last line is just haunting, it’s such a perfect way of saying, I want to forget, but time will only go so fast.

Ready for It, Cornelia Street, mirrorball, and evermore for the ask game!!!
ok favourite lyrics from these songs… here we go!
Ready For It
“In the middle of the night, in my dreams, you should see the things we do baby”
it’s super basic but I feel like it really sets the tone for the entire Rep album
Cornelia Street
“I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends, I’d never walk Cornelia street again, that’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend.”
I LOVE the way she expresses her feelings for Joe in this song but this line is so profound, like she loves him so much she’d never go to the places they were in love if she lost him. That’s true love and true heartbreak.
Mirrorball
“I’m still a believer but I don’t know why, I’ve never been a natural, all I do is try try try.”
This means so much to me. As someone who struggles to keep their head above water I’m constantly saying that all I can do is try, all I can do is push away my natural instinct to give up and just TRY. She really got me with this song, it’s a true masterpiece.
Evermore
“I replay my footsteps on each stepping stone, trying to find the one where I went wrong.”
I’m a textbook over thinker, so that really resonated with me. All I do is try to over analyze every situation that went wrong in my life and try to figure out what happened. It’s such a slippery slope; her and Justin really nailed the feeling with this song.
no one talk to me I’m listing to We Were Happy with background rain sounds
Taylor “I gave so many signs”
