The sound of rotting away in obscurity and isolation in the Southwest. A dozen hours from any major city, and a rapidly increasing cost of living. Four “full length” recordings slowly, and privately, worked on over the course of a year. Coming from basments and dirty rentals far below the current underground. An accurate representation of a declining culture who seem more than willing to dance to the “darkness” misrepresented by their contemporaries. Nothing romantic about the stress and depression put into this compilation.

The structure of Tollund Men’s music could be adequately described as darkwave or synthwave when looked at simply, but the incredibly lofi recording quality gives the music a fuzzy noise edge which sends it arcing into industrial territory. The kind of music played by the likes of Natural Assembly, Cold Cave and Contrepoison, but with a thick fog of feedback layered over the proceedings, resulting in what sounds like hearing ghostly transmissions from one world over. Their 4-song cassette Dedicated To P. F. Lacenaire was released last year on Total Black. It was dedicated to the infamous poet and murderer Pierre François Lacenaire.
