What if something immense and foul has taken over most of the world so completely that everyone tells you resistance is futile, and you can only watch as this new world order turns people into resources so thoroughly that even in death, bodies are still being made to serve and being processed into feed, and we're somehow still suffering the effects of homophobia and sexism, and being a daughter marks you for mental illnesses doctors don't even have names for yet.

Ep5 of Our Wars Have Ended really kicked me in the gut with that beautiful setup and payoff at the end with Morel begging the Voice of the Mountain to give Dogged back to him so he could talk to her one last time.

The entire episode is Morel trying and failing to prevent Dogged from being humiliated in death, while willfully ignoring the fact that it is entirely his fault that Dogged died in the first place. His paranoia over Timmer possibly resurrecting Dogged leads to her being forcefully resurrected anyway.

And then, after insisting that he's saving her from being "brought back" for the entire episode, Morel ends up begging for the Mountain to bring Dogged back for his comfort, and the narrative itself tells him no, she won't come back for him, because he is the one who killed her.
