Twenty years ago, the Kindly Ancestors rose from their graves to reconquer the lands of Old Cyshane. Today, an endless multitude of ancient kings and queens squabble and bicker for cultural supremacy. Labouring corpse-technology has swallowed up agriculture and industry. Dead-divers descend into the netherworld, searching for answers. Even as progress rolls relentlessly onwards, all of us remain helplessly bound to the past. What will it take to stop looking back?

World mechanic where reactionary conservative political movements can and do literally dig up and re-elect the ruler from 400 years ago #MakeCyshaneGreatAgain

World mechanic where capital punishment is highly valuable because your executed corpse can be resurrected and lobotomized to provide infinite free slave labor. World mechanic where capital punishment isn't the highest order of punishment because any amount of hard labor or example can be added onto the punishment.

World mechanic where you die in service of your company and you sign over your rights to let them keep using your corpse because better them than some grave robber a year from now.

World mechanic where one of the characters is a severed head and I like her.

Something about how Our Wars Have Ended having the mercenaries sing a song where the men get to sing about fucking God's wife and the women get to sing about fucking God, but there's no option for nonbinary people, and no option for a woman to fuck God's wife or for a man to fuck God.

And there's also the juxtaposition of 'lock up your wives' for the men (the men are able to claim an already socially 'claimed' woman) versus 'lock up your sons' for the women (the women can only claim an unclaimed man)
