hi there! my name is skye, i'm one of the artists on Scrapnik Island: Mechanization. i'm not sure if you've been keeping up with the project, but it finished recently and i'd be honored if you'd take a look at it if you haven't already!
also, while i'm here i wanted to mention that you're one of my art heroes and i always look forward to seeing your work. i absolutely adore your colors on scrapnik (which is my favorite comic of all time) and i hope i can make comics that beautiful someday. if you have anything at all you'd like to share about the process i'd be delighted to hear it.
hope you're having a good day/night!
Hi Skye, I have been reading it actually. Congrats on finishing! I appreciate the kind words, and am glad that people still remember the story fondly. I had a lot of fun coloring it, though I did get obsessive at times deciding on some details. What helps me is scripting out the colors ahead of time through rough thumbnails, and when coloring, continually checking if the values are standing apart from each other by turning off the line art and turning on a b/w layer set to "color". In general I try to avoid getting TOO dark for comics, because they print darker than the digital file. I went a little overboard in issue 1 of scrapnik, making some parts not print well, so I try to keep that in mind for the future.
If you're looking for fanart requests, I'd love to see how you draw this version of Mecha Sonic MKII from the comic Scrapnik Island! Thank you! Your work is awesome as always.

Excited for FRAUD
hi! what's the caption inspo for your fraud v1 art? absolutely gorgeous btw
Thank you! There's no direct inspiration it's pulling from (except a ref to The Emperor's New Clothes), but in general I've been inspired by Bull of Heaven, Piranesi., ULTRAKILL and more to have fun writing little things again. For the caption itself, I wrote it after listening to 8-1's music in May. It made me imagine the Fraud layer as empty warped artificial jubilee (I was really happy to see 8-1's tease go even further than all that.) I got really into how fun it was to say Polyurethane Clouds in a Plexiglass Prism so I ended up building off of it. In the end the caption is a whole bunch of bluster about nothing- 0 x 80000000000000000000000 is still 0.
If you were only allowed to make one Mario character real, which one would it be?
Bowser but he has to be a tiny low poly model in my walls
REASON GNAWED COMPASSION SPAT All I wanted was to be loved again.
Throughout the past year I've been working on ENGINE ANGEL with my fellow Ivy Road-ers, it's been a long year of both exciting and devastating feelings. Seeing the kind responses to our prototype reminds us that regardless of industry hardships, we've made something that brings ourselves and others joy. For me personally, whether we're able to continue on or not doesn't diminish the feelings and happiness I experience now. Take care and enjoy time with your loved ones! Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Check out what I've been making art for! ENGINE ANGEL is a 'car'-acter action game where you smash rip & tear through hordes of other angel-infested vehicles dying for worship. The folks and I at Ivy Road are looking for publisher funding to make the game in full, but we want to show what we've made regardless! I'll be posting some of the concept art I made for the prototype here. If you want to see more dev art, follow our lead lizc3d @ bsky!
GODSPEED.
Here's final designs I made for the main couple, THRONE and Ms. Garter! Big shout out to @maurofonseca for giving me feedback and ideas for the designs.

Wrap yourselves in robes of cellophane! Dance in the rainbow of tin! The emperor's clothes. Refracted to Octillion! Polyurethane clouds in a plexiglass prism!
I'd LOVE to make artworks/comic covers for sonic idw someday, do you have any tips? :)
Evan answered a question like this for writing here My best advice is to learn how to draw things that AREN'T sonic-related first. 1. Draw comics where a human is getting out of a car, unlocks their front door, drops their groceries, and has to pick them up. Draw a comic where a person is racing on a horse. Draw a fight scene between two people. Draw construction equipment working on a building. One thing about comics is you will almost always have to draw something you've never drawn before in a story! 2. Learn storytelling through composition in illustration AND comics (they are two different things!). Draw a LOT of backgrounds, learning how to draw things in perspective is vital in comics. 3. Learn gesture and anatomy in real people, then study how it gets applied or broken in cartooning, and study how different cartooning is in different countries to have versatile understanding (because sonic isn't anatomically real, nor is he rubberhose). 4. Have an easy to reach portfolio site and an easy to find email contact. After developing a portfolio of illustrations and comics that aren't sonic, you will have an easier time handling the work and convincing editors you can do the work on time. Keep posting art online, and if you're aiming for sonic, bear in mind you need to have samples closer to the official style Make sure to keep posting sonic fanart so that the editors will more likely notice you and reach out. Best of luck!
