hi there! my name is skye, i'm one of the artists on Scrapnik Island: Mechanization. i'm not sure if you've been keeping up with the project, but it finished recently and i'd be honored if you'd take a look at it if you haven't already!
also, while i'm here i wanted to mention that you're one of my art heroes and i always look forward to seeing your work. i absolutely adore your colors on scrapnik (which is my favorite comic of all time) and i hope i can make comics that beautiful someday. if you have anything at all you'd like to share about the process i'd be delighted to hear it.
hope you're having a good day/night!
Hi Skye, I have been reading it actually. Congrats on finishing! I appreciate the kind words, and am glad that people still remember the story fondly. I had a lot of fun coloring it, though I did get obsessive at times deciding on some details. What helps me is scripting out the colors ahead of time through rough thumbnails, and when coloring, continually checking if the values are standing apart from each other by turning off the line art and turning on a b/w layer set to "color". In general I try to avoid getting TOO dark for comics, because they print darker than the digital file. I went a little overboard in issue 1 of scrapnik, making some parts not print well, so I try to keep that in mind for the future.
