Hullo hullo, I’m Eny(mon) and I made this sideblog so I can look at and post about primarily boboiboy stuff:DD. I’m mostly on here so I have somewhere to scream about my beloved bbg, og!BBB, when ao3 isn’t enough<33. Sometimes unfinished pieces, sometimes plans for future works, and sometimes just unhinged rambling.
I’m not exactly new to the fandom lmao, kinda grew up with it, but I’ve only recently (in 2026) gotten back to it🧡
Tags: aged up characters, pre-relationship, underage drinking, idiots to confused crushes???, teenage-typical curiosity yk? lol feelings are confusing, one-sided crush that really isn't one-sided, unhealthy coping mechanisms (get these boys some therapy), OOC warning
(Mind the underage drinking tag, I'm not too confident with Tumblr's tagging etiquette, but I've placed this post under 'Mature' just in case and I hope that's enough🙂↕️)
Summary: Growing up is weird, Boboiboy decides. And being a teenage hero only complicates things further, yet it doesn't save him from catching stupid feelings or teach him how to deal with the fact.
Still, he and his best friend are alive, they're still together, and they're sneaking a drink under the moon. That counts for something right?
-
They don't want to go home just yet.
They're tucked away in the hallows where folks can't find them—not on accident, anyway. Boboiboy is sitting on top of an overturned crate that is at least half-rotted, it is cold and slightly damp to the touch, and he knows his pants are going straight into the washing machine the moment he gets home. Gopal is leaning against the curved wall of the abandoned underground bypass they've sequestered themselves in, one foot propped up and the other digging into the ground to keep him from sliding into the wet earth.
There is graffiti on the wall, bright pops of colour that Boboiboy can vaguely make out even in the near-dark with their only source of light being the warm yellow radiating off the streetlamp that their little hideaway is just barely within the range of, and the lingering sent of bitter smoke seemingly baked into the walls. Popular place for smokers, they'd guessed when they first wandered in and the smell had hit them like a physical blow, not that it deterred them from taking camp there for the 'eve. There are few places in the area where they can go to to just be themselves and fool around, where they can drop the hero title and the expectations that come with it, and being able to add one more to the scant list is something to celebrate.
It's long gone lukewarm. Boboiboy downs the rest of his bottle, pushing past the face-scrunching bitter of its taste for the sweet, sweet sensation of warmth flooding his body, the pleasant tingle to his bones, the mind-numbing way every thought, good and ugly both, is blurred into obscurity with each swallow. He rolls the now empty glass green bottle—the cheapest thing he can buy in bulk of, on the ground to his side, there is still two left of the six-pack he'd bought—between the sweaty palms of his hands.
As he swings his legs idly, the backs of his sneakers hitting the wood with dull thuds each time that seem to echo, Boboiboy reaches for the next bottle.
Gopal is already there, popping the cap off the bottle he's holding and giving it to Boboiboy, who takes it with a dazed "thank you". Gopal nods in turn before taking his own share of the two left—the last one.
It's the night before Boboiboy's eighteenth. This is the last illegal drink of his life. The realization settles in his gut heavily. Boboiboy doesn't know how to feel, this is not something anyone has ever prepared him for, and this isn't something he can easily share either, so he does the only thing he can: shrug it off and move on. He can cry about it later.
No more words are exchanged. There is only them and this: the sound of their breathing, the thumping of Boboiboy's shoed feet on wood, the rustling of clothes as Gopal shifts and paces, the occasional clinking of glass bottles against their watches, and liquor being gulped down.
And somewhere between the burn at the back of his throat and the dryness of his tongue, Boboiboy finds himself staring, saliva pooling in his mouth, at the dark-lit side profile of his best friend's face.
Huh, he thinks, dizzily, when had Gopal grown up? His figure is still full, thick with his heavy-set build, but the childish swell of baby fat padding his cheeks has long melted off, leaving behind the visage of a teen on the cusp of adulthood. Like this, Boboiboy remembers—realizes—with a shock, that they aren't children moaning over the homework in their backpacks anymore. Like this, Boboiboy understands, that they have changed.
And, if Boboiboy could only muster the same reckless confidence he had had an overabundance of in his childish youth, tonight, they could change some more.
He just has to remember to come back before the sun's rising to wash away all traces of the night. Tok Aba needs to know nothing of this, the sneaking out, the drinking, the everything.
*I'm going to make this ship a thing, if it's the last thing I do. One short at a time. Trust🙏.
This was a backdated piece posted on ao3 a while ago. I'm crossposting this one to Tumblr simply because I feel there is a severe lack of Boboiboy/Gopal in the public consciousness and I feel that is a travesty I must fix🧡
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It's the way Fang shifts in his seat, the way he leaves the room when Papa Zola starts gushing about his wife and baby princess or when Gopal is drooling over his mam's curry or when Ying and Yaya gush about all that they need to catch up on.
And Boboiboy, wading through his own glaring homesickness and longing to see Tok Aba again, remembers, suddenly, that there is nobody on Earth to welcome Fang home.
(based on that scene near the beginning of BBBtm2)
"Fang," Boboiboy pauses. His mouth had moved faster than his mind, he does not know how to ask, but he's already opened his dumb mouth so now he has to see this through to the end. He can't take it back nor does he want to. 'Are you alright' feels stupid, but he cannot think of anything else to say so he settles for it. "You've been quiet," Boboiboy says, voice barely above a whisper, the word 'quiet' barely covers Fang's odd, twitchy behaviour throughout the day, but it sounds better than 'weird' and he's not here to pick a fight, not here not now, "are you..okay? Dinner not sitting right with you or something?"
And Boboiboy knows that's not it, he's not stupid, and the cat's been out of the bag for a long time now, but family's a touchy subject, and Fang's fuse has been stretched thin already between the stress of the day's events and their impending return to Earth, so he extends the olive branch, an easy out, as a peace offering, and hopes Fang trusts him enough to reach for the hand holding the stick instead.
And Boboiboy is sitting precariously balanced on the edge of Fang's bed in his own pyjamas, feet socked, cap off, while Fang is already under his covers, an arm thrown over his eyes, and Boboiboy gets to watch from up close how Fang's mouth opens and closes repeatedly yet not a single thing comes out beyond a broken exhale, how his hand curls into a tight, white-knuckled fist, nails digging into the meat of his palm, and Boboiboy has to resist the urge to grab it and gently peel the fingers back because that must hurt.
"I'm fine," Fang replies, eventually. "Just tired." Then, arm shifting to let just one eye peek through, it locks almost lazily with Boboiboy's own gaze. And, inappropriately, Boboiboy is struck by how beautifully sharp Fang's uniquely alien red eyes are. Of course, the moment is quickly shattered. "Saving them was dumb of you."
Boboiboy sighs. At least Fang feels good enough to argue.
"Eggabot had been secured. Everything else is extra—it turned out alright, didn't it?"
Fang scoffs weakly, eye fluttering back closed. "This time," he agrees. "Next time.."
Boboiboy waits. He's not good at it, but he tries. He wants more out of Fang, he wants Fang to confide in him, they've grown much closer than where they first started, but he knows better than to force it. So, he waits.
Until the faint goodnights a couple rooms over ring out, until the ships' automatic systems has swapped over into the dimmer, warmer lighting for the night, until he thinks Fang himself has actually fallen asleep.
But.
"Are you planning on sleeping here?" Fang's voice is slurred with on-the-verge-of-sleep sluggishness. "Goodnight, Bobo," he exhales, with finality. Then, almost kindly, softly, like an afterthought much deliberated on, "..Sleep, tomorrow's a big day for you."
Boboiboy closes his eyes. He should, yes.
"Goodnight, Pang."
He checks his watch, finally, once the door has closed behind him. Eleven. He's surprised Fang allowed him to stay that long.
Before he goes back to his room, he makes one stop. There's something he has to do.
There's nothing quite like coming home.
Earth's blue rises above the dashboard, and Boboiboy—most everyone, really—finds he cannot look away. A planet of blue and green and brown and white, and somewhere in there, Tok Aba is waiting, eyes probably anxiously searching the sky. At home, the rice cooker is probably going off, there's cocoa in the tin, soup on the stove, and dishes set out on rattan placemats on the table. Boboiboy is practically vibrating in his seat.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he sees Fang with his arms crossed and chin to his chest, his unruly bangs flopping forward, hiding his bowed head.
He almost looks away. Nothing he could say would help, but...
Shuffling closer until he is an arm's length away from Fang, Boboiboy leans against wall of machinery. He doesn't say a word, pretending he is absorbed looking out the window, pretending the cold metal of the console controls isn't digging sharply into his hipbone. He just stays there near Fang, vaguely existing, which is the best way he has to describe it. He would never admit to what he is doing, but he hopes Fang knows what he means by it. He has them. He isn't alone.
Papa Zola had, in his enthusiasm, taken over piloting from Fang. The ship descends roughly. Boboiboy nearly trips. He catches himself on the back of Fang's seat. Fang's hand comes up to squeeze Boboiboy's fingers which are hooked over the top of the seat.
Boboiboy, very carefully, tries not to explode.
"Are you holding your breath?"
"..."
Fang snorts. Boboiboy takes it as a win.
Still, Fang only lets go once they've fully landed and the ship stalled.
Boboiboy is the first one out, to no one's surprise. He runs into Tok Aba's outstretched arms. Nobody notices the question whispered into his ears, or the answering smile.
Around them, is chaos. The best kind.
Eventually, one by one, they leave, until the three of them are all who's left.
And, the sun is setting when Boboiboy turns back, heart in his throat, to find Fang sitting on the lowered ramp, face tilted to face the sky. As he expected.
"Fang," he calls out, "are you coming?"
"No," Fang shakes his head, "...Eggabot needs guarding."
Ochobot cuts in. "The ship has state of the art security." Boboiboy nods, agreeing. "Nothing's going to happen to it here, Earth is pretty safe."
Boboiboy exchanges a glance with his grandfather.
"Well," Tok Aba says, as he busies himself with cleaning, stacking plates and cups, "if you're not planning on coming home with us, whatever am I going to do with all the carrot soup I made?"
Fang shoots Boboiboy a sharp look. And then, Boboiboy blinks, and it's gone.
"Carrot soup, huh?" Fang's voice takes on an audible cheer that sounds only a little faked to Boboiboy. "Wait for me!"
notes: genuinely, it kills me every time how when the team is celebrating saying "yay! we're going home!" when their leave is granted, Fang is the only one not shown, not even once during that entire montage. Like, it definitely has to be a deliberate choice made by the story and animation team😭. plus, the way he hangs back as everyone is welcomed by their families waiting for them, saying he has to guard the ship and eggabot (eggbot?)
well, I tagged BoiFang, but honestly it's more of a pre-slash than an established relationship considering their canon ages in the movie😭.
anyway, I'll probably rework this short at some point into something longer and less wishy-washy, then crosspost it on ao3 lol<3, boifang my beloved🧡🧡🧡
Scratches back of my head. Every time I pop in here it’s always me saying that I keep forgetting to post here. But that is the truth. Alas, I am the forgetter. Also I have no respect for the tumnglr algorithm therefore I post whenever I want. Anyway how’s everyone been ??
Time for me to delve into the details bc I did NAWT spend 5 months animating and getting bullied on tiktok by bigots to have stuff missed! Anyways!
First off, Fang and Boboiboy's dance for most of the animatic are inspired by joget, while the final dance is directly referenced from Tarian Inang (both being traditional Malaysian dances sometimes performed during wedding receptions)
Second off, here are all the outfit references I drew for this animatic
Omg I never even thought of Boifang until I saw your content. I absolutely never thought of that route before!!!
How did you find such a delectable ship👀
Well anon, I'm glad you asked!
Come walk with me, and put on your fujo glasses while you're at it as I try to explain how and why I ship Boifang (as a newgen fan who hasn't seen much of the OG series because it's seriously lacking in official translations on YT, which is a shame because I heard a lot of the yaoi-isms come from there. Therefor most of the stuff I'm sharing involves all animated stuff BBBTM1 and onward)
Exhibit A:
Character and Design Tropes
COME ON, THEY'RE SUCH OBVIOUS PARALLELS TO EACH OTHER EVEN ON A DESIGN LEVEL!! He's the naruto to his sasuke, the shadow to his sonic, and even outside of that their enemies to rivals AND friends dynamic is super compelling. Fang, ever since the OG series, never gave Boboiboy a reason to like or tolerate him, even purposely working against him as a rival and Kaizo's subordinate, and yet!!! Boboiboy still claims Fang as his friend and is willing to fight for him!!!! AAAGHHHH
THEIR BDAYS ARE ALSO EXACTLY A MONTH APART???? WHAT THE FUUUCCKKKK
Exhibit B:
Canon Material
1. This one scene from the OG series is JUST the Accidental hand holding trope you'd see in your average shojo anime
2. This whole sequence in Galaxy
3. This whole sequence from BBBTM2 where Fang is invited to stay over at Boboiboy's house (this is so cute :(( it's like he's being introduced to the family officially ough)
4. The theme of Fang supporting Boboiboy like this in both movies kinda makes me ill
5. As an Oubing fan I feel like I need to point this out
Exhibit C:
I'm just not immune to good fanart dawg </3
Shoutout to user Luenatic or Nonexistent-Moth (Rest in Deactivation🙏) they're honestly a heavy influence on how I draw boboiboy and Fang in general
I mean supposedly the sequence and the Florence song should be self explanatory but my editing sucks so ..
The song name is Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up) by Florence + The Machine btw. I was drawn to the lyrics about the gift that comes with a price. Until at the end of the song, the songwriter finally abandons the 'it comes with a price', fully accepting it as a gift.
It's an editing project that I've wanted to do since March (around the time when the movie title was announced) and oh my god when the freaking BM3 teaser drop the first line Boboiboy said is "This power is no longer a gift" kskhagskdhshjsks
I even had the whole symbolic meaning of the song noted but more Kirana centric
crossposting from my other socials because i finally got off my lazy bum and redownloaded tumblr!!! been really into boboiboy lately. all i can think about are these stupid guys.
(the first fang drawing was inspired by @moussedoodles’s animatic)
ANYWAYS i mostly posted on here to see if there was any more fans bc to be honest the fandom is sparse elsewhere. literally can’t find nobody!!!
Competent physical combatant Boboiboy + Sentient Elementals AU—an idea
Ughh so I rewatched BBBtm2 and I’ve been thinking about how Boboiboy was literally, within the span of a single fight, stripped down to less than half his powers—and he could have lost all of it and even keeping his life is not guaranteed if Gopal and Ochobot hadn’t managed to rescue him in time. This is a boy, barely 15(?), facing someone who in his prime had defeated every elemental master who had had the same powers BBB has except they were even older, stronger, and much more experienced, some with actual armies under their command, and they still all lost. What hope does BBB have?? The fact that he managed to unlock elemental fusion in a fit of ingenuity and/or desperation, the first of such a thing in the universe from what I can infer, was so😭😭😭, like lmao it’s blatantly plot armor yeah, but damn bro genuinely could not have won any other way. I’m not complaining. I can’t believe they introduced us to Frostfire, Glacier, and Supra all in the span of like 20 min🤣 it took years for us to even see Cahaya and Solar and then they just stuff 3 fusions down our throats all at once, it’s so funny I love life🤣🤣🤣
Anyway all that is to say, I think that would have been such a wake up call. Boboiboy has lost access to his elementals before, be it issues with his power band, or being separated for too long leading to an amnesiac rogue elemental wrecking the place, but this was the first time he had actually been stripped of his powers and to make it worse, he was conscious enough to understand everything that is happening to him, all that he is losing.
I know the movie—and the shows occasionally show snippets of his training—showcased Boboiboy both as himself and when split into his elementals training, but I really think they could have pushed it way further, especially in the aftermath.
I want to see Boboiboy, after getting all his elementals back, struggle with his dependence on them. I want to see him hesitate to summon them, I want to see him deliberately avoiding it just to prove (maybe to the others, mostly to his own self) that he isn’t useless without them. I think it would be so interesting if Boboiboy threw himself into combat training more intensely as just himself and becoming more of a physical and independent fighter. He wouldn’t avoid using the elementals—maybe at first he would, when he is struggling with processing how facing Retak’ka had made him feel so powerless, so inadequate, but I do think BBB is pragmatic enough especially with others’ safety on the line that he wouldn’t stop using the elementals to help everyone just because he was uncomfortable with his newfound awareness of his overdependence on them—but he would be using them less often as he grows more and more competent and more able to handle things himself.
Side note: I think it’d be so funny if BBB gained himself a reputation for being hilariously and frighteningly competent. Oh you got his watch? You think he’s helpless now? Sike! Roundhouse kick to the face. It’d be so funny if BBB becomes even more brutally unhinged without his elemental power-ups🤣.
Integrating this with my own Sentient Elementals AU, hhhhh🤤,,, I headcanon the elementals as powers that beg to be used: that is their purpose, that is what they are made for. I like to think they are, however, particularly fond of Boboiboy as their current wielder. Boboiboy has such a unique way of wielding elemental power. As can be seen by the previous elemental masters where they all use the elementals as literal weapons instead of what Boboiboy does in that he seemingly becomes the elemental—actually it feels more like possession, where BBB gives up partial to full control of his body and mind to whatever elemental he chooses using the power watch as a medium. Even Retak’ka, who had the most similar experience of being able to bear and wield multiple elementals at the same time, used them as weapons. Body splitting and elemental fusions seem wholly unique to Boboiboy. I think the Elementals, if they were sentient, would appreciate BBB’s (accidentally or not) allowing them to experience what living felt like by giving them bodies they can touch and interact with the world with.
*going with the idea that nobody except they themselves know they’re sentient. BBB doesn’t know because he kind of gets possessed and his consciousness kinda pushed to the side when he summons them, so both he and them can’t really exist or interact in the same plane of existence the way their powers work (in my mind it makes sense😭🙏)
Anyway, I like to think about what BBB’s growing independence and reluctance to wield them as freely as he’d done before would mean for them. 1) they’d get less chances to explore the physical world, confined to BBB’s mindscape or maybe the watch, uh wherever they live when they’re not being summoned; 2) they can’t really summon themselves so they have to just watch as Boboiboy during his training arc takes hit after hit and stubbornly refusing to summon them still as he tries to prove himself; 3) idk yet lol brain empty, but I’m sure there’s other stuff
Damn I started this post wanting to see BBB suffer with feelings of inadequacy and taking steps (both good and bad) to do something about it, and then ended off on a tangent about hypothetically sentient elementals. Mb gang😭🙏. Anyway I just wanna see BBB throwing hands, I think it’d be cool. Ughhh I’m gonna need to find time to write this someday….free time is a myth🫠
