Character drawings for a proposed sequel to “The Dover Boys” by Chuck Jones, graphite, colored pencil and conte crayon on 12 field animation paper, circa late 1940s.

In the early 1980s, after giving a speech at CalArts in Valencia, a group of animation students approached Chuck, introduced themselves, and as happens, Chuck took a liking to them and became their de facto mentor for the rest of his life. They were Jeff DeGrandis, Chris Bailey, Rob Minkoff, and Kelly Asbury, collectively known as the “Dover Boys”.
