Simon had refused to pay attention to the couple, it wasn’t his business and not to mention a scenario far too similar for him to even try dig into; memories he tried to put behind him, but as the person next to him decided to question them out loud he really couldn’t help but reply a bit defensive. “Maybe they’ve both had a rough day and just need to let out some steam? You don’t know what’s going on in their lives or what finally made them snap.” He and Layken had never brought their fights into the public eye, but if they hadn’t been close at least once or twice back in the day. “Just break them up if it annoys you.”

“I wasn’t trying to be rude,” Lori defended with a sigh. “I apologize. I suppose I wasn’t thinking of all the sides.” She fidgeted in her seat a moment, eyes cast back to the man.

Kit glanced over at the couple once more, unable to keep herself from chuckling as she did. She’d been watching them go at it for the past ten minutes, and felt as though she’d learned more about them in the small stretch of time than she cared to. “It’s so dramatic it’s almost comical. Maybe we’re in a movie and we didn’t even realize it.” She joked, turning her attention back to the other woman.

“Right? Like what movie set have we walked in on?” Lori smiled, grabbing her coffee to take a drink. “After a boring week those two lovers quarrel is the highlight of my week. A sad fact if you ask me.”

‘ Huh, young love. ’ She averted her gaze from the awful and cringe-worthy sight. Well, it was a good thing that she was born in a different generation. ‘ There’s no such thing as etiquette anymore, apparently. Though, I’m going to deny that it provides a show. ’

“Unfortunately this generation has no manners either these days,” Lori responded. The majority acted entitled, but thankfully it wasn’t the whole mess of them and there were a few who understood hard work.

It was nearing the anniversary of her father’s death, otherwise known as the ‘day Nessa’s life went to complete shit’. The first couple anniversaries she tried to honour him, then she defaulted to drinking and remembering him the best she could. She felt someone sit down on the barstool right next to her, and still looking down at her drink she quietly said, “I’m not sure I’m the best company right now.” Looking up with a small smile, she shrugged, “Not to scare you away.”

Another day another dollar. Is that not how people said it? She had sold one house, and the rest had not been up to the buyer’s interest evidently. Frustration had slowly eased in where she felt a drink was the needed remedy. Settled on her bar stool, she offered a smile to the woman. “That’s alright. I tend to do enough talking for everyone.”

“Hello? Is anybody there?” Ali called out as she stood at the gate of the place. She had tried the bell, but there seemed to be no answer, yet she could see movement inside, so, she thought of waiting a bit longer.

Lori had been finishing up the laundry and with music on she was blissfully unaware of the bell. Only when she neared the front with a basket on her hip did she pause. “Yeah? How can I help you?” She stood with her front door open wide, smile fixed on her face.

“You could say they have flair fer drama.” Killian uttered, glancing over at the arguing couple. This was why he didn’t do relationships. The arguing alone seemed tiresome to him, and he didn’t want to imagine how it was like in their home if in public was this bad already. “I wipe me hands off of this. I don’ even want to get meself involved.”

“That’s a little too much drama for my taste, but to each their own.” If you argued so much with someone then how that could possibly be a functioning relationship? You were supposed to get along of course, but it wasn’t her business to nose in someone elses issues. “Me either but it was like a train wreck I couldn’t tear my eyes from.”

“Why do people always argue in public like that?” Lori gestured to the couple who had been going a few rounds for the last ten minutes, Apparently he wasn’t the best partner and nor was she. “I don’t think airing your dirty laundry in that way is the best way to go.”

“So I was watching that video where the brothers pranked their sister into believing the zombie apocalypse was happening and don’t you think it would’ve been ten times better if they actually had someone dress up as a zombie banging on the car? I’d volunteer for that.” 

“That’s what I thought too. They could have really done o much more with that prank, but it was good for what it was. Not sure I’m zombie material, but I could think of a few people who would love to give someone a scare like that.”

“God. This tastes amazing, doesn’t it?” Maya asked as she stuffed a slice of pizza into her mouth. After having a handful of tequila shots, her stomach had started to make noises like a bear and she had decided that food was the way to go. Exhaling a relieved sigh, she closed her eyes as she chewed on all the extra cheese that filled her mouth. “It’s like, right now, this pizza is giving me the best hug ever. Do you ever get that feeling? Like you need a hug, or a kiss, or whatever, but you got no one to give it to you so pizza does it instead. It’s amazing what pizza can do.”

“That must be the world’s best pizza then,” Lori chuckled. “I understand it, but pizza is not my go to though I wouldn’t ever be one to turn a slice. My calm comes from hiking or sitting outside. Anything in particular got you feeling that way?”

“Excuse me.” Isabella asked the first person she met, shifting her daughter in her arms. “I fear that the incompetent staff of this store is unable to help me, but could you help me get this to my car? I’ll compensate you for your time, of course.”

The blouse in hand was put back on he rack, shifting her attention to the woman. “No no you don’t have to pay me or anything. I would be happy to help,” Lori responded, waiting hands held out.

“I hate the drop-off line at my daughter’s school. It’s survival of the fittest PTA style. I receive more backhanded compliments there than I ever have from my mother and that’s really saying something.”

“I can’t speak for other mom’s so I will take your word for it. Some compliments are better than no compliments at least yeah? Unless their just the expected oh your outfit is cute or I like what you did with your hair. The generic ones give away people’s intentions.”
