Am I not good enough?
I find myself coming back to this question day by day and it hurts like as it knowing that you really can’t be good enough towards everyone’s standards. If only I knew that I was good enough for basically everyone its just gonna kill me day by day. My friends think im useless, my teachers find my true self unacceptable and ugly. I just can’t be myself. Even if I be myself, people would still hate on me and if i become someone perfect (to some people’s standard), I’ll still be hated on. Is it really my fault for genuinely showing emotions when it is what society really strives off? i h a v e n o i d e a

Burnout & Disappointment
Okay. After a mini hiatus, I’m back with an update on what’s happened. This is a long, honest and raw reflection on what’s happened since my last personal post.
So, just before my last big test I was hit with a bout of burnout and couldn’t for the life of me focus on the work in front of me. Nothing could motivate me, nobody could help me (mostly because I hid it from everyone); I was just staring at the work and nothing was going in. Well I wrote the test and did badly, bad enough that I wasn’t exempted from the exam and had to stay a week longer to write. I mean this wasn’t bad, what hurt was watching all my friends celebrate that they had promoted/exempted and knowing that they all expected me to be with them but I wasn’t. I felt like such an imposter in that I didn’t desereve to there (I know now that that’s not the case).
After the big block test I decided to go home and try to recover from the burnout. It worked. I spent that week after the big block test resting and preparing to write another test for Sepedi in which I did well (I got a distinction) but I didn’t feel that it was right to be proud of myself because of what happened to the block test. So I continued without celebration. After that for two weeks we had an Intro to Pharmacology module-thing which was very hard for me to grasp and it was just a cycle of lectures, studying and sleep. After those two weeks we wrote a test and I did well enough to exempt/promote the pharmacology block. Still I didn’t allow myself to dwell on the success because all my friends were able to do what I did and still pass block. A week later of useless lectures, my first year of university was ‘over’. I decided to move out and back home immediately so that I could prep for my exam. A week after that I wrote the exam and was officially done with my first year.
The reason that I wrote this whole thing is because I don’t want to erase my experience and just chalk up my not doing well to a tough paper. I want to show that burnout is a real and serious thing and that you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself because you didn’t achieve your goals in the manner in which you wanted to. It’s still really hard for me not to consider myself a disappointment, I’ll completely breakdown if I don’t get something right from the first attempt. I’m trying to do better and not be too hard on myself but having grown up as an overachiever it’s tough.
Anyways thanks for reading this, I’m officially on holiday for just over two months. If you have any suggestions on what I could do in that time please let me know. Here’s a picture of our garden with pretty clouds and one of the neighbours houses.
Burnout, 2018.
Three years ago, my constantly worsening sleep deprivation and stress resulted in a burnout. I’m 30 years old now, at the time of posting this comic, and I still haven’t recovered fully. I still have the heart symptoms - even the smallest amount of stress brings the symptoms back. It’s likely I will never recover enough to work a fulltime job again and I can’t go back to high-stress environments like customer service. But that’s alright. I am more than just my work. I’m slowly learning to be merciful towards myself and to show myself the same kindness I show others, and I think that’s very important.
This is my story and I won’t be ashamed any more.

Tomorrow’s my big block test. I’m so nervous. All that I’m doing now is revising all the work and terminology that I don’t feel comfortable with.
This is a collection of my favorite diagrams in my notebook. When I need a mini outlet I draw a diagram. I’m really happy that I took art in high school because I can visualize and understand diagrams faster than some of my friends.
Wish me luck for tomorrow’s test ✨it’s three hours long and I’ll be done by noon. I’ll do a proper introductory post tomorrow afternoon with all the other fun things I’ve found to make this a better medblr. Sorry about the crazy lighting my lamp is on the one side of my table.

Night studying✨. I can feel myself reaching the end of all the content that I have to cover, which I thought was an impossible feat. I have anatomy left to do which will be a breeze as I’ve already done physiology.
I have a large water bottle cause it’s still so hot and some speckled eggs to satisfy my sweet tooth.
I have artist shuffle play on and so far have listened to Billie Eilish and James Blake. Can’t wait to see who else comes on.
I’m really trying to be consistent with posting and it’s actually not that hard.

new studyblr. looking for some studyblr to follow. reblog/like this.
Hey guys, hope you’re doing well. It’s still early in the day but I’ve already done one study session. It was a very intense study session focused on all the physiology, genetics and histology of this semester. I’m going to do immunology, anatomy, osteology & embryology in my next study session. I really enjoy how this module is set up because everything is interlinked. I’m kinda stressing about remembering all the terminology but I think I know all the processes.
To change things up a bit I went to a coffee shop (Coffee on 18th) to study and I had the most amazing flapjacks with bacon and maple syrup (I’m flexitarien so this was my first time having meat in a while). I also had an iced white mocha but I finished it before I took the pictures. The vibe of the shop was nice and calming, I’m thinking of making it a Saturday morning thing where I go and get breakfast there. It’s super affordable and walking distance away and not too busy that I get distracted. I went back to my room to do the next section of work. Do you guys study in coffee shops?
When I first started studying I was listening to Apple Music’s “Music from Euphoria” but I decided to change it because the music was a bit too eclectic for me to listen to in an intense study session. I changed to my friends playlist “Feels.” (Profile name @ridenowave on Apple Music) it’s really good and very calming. I had earphones in but sometimes I’d take them off to listen to the coffee shops music if I liked the song. I had water with ice and lemon to cool down and my Vaseline as per usual.
I’m still learning angles for pictures I really like the amount of color that you can see in this picture. I usually make notes with colored fine liners as you can kinda see but for the purpose of intense studying I limit it to just highlighters. Maybe on Monday after the test I’ll post pictures of my lecture notes and my study notes, there’s a really big difference between the two.
tl;dr: I had a really good breakfast whilst studying for my big test.
Yay! One big test down and one more to go. Today’s test was a summation of the past two weeks work which was actually more than I thought. We did all three types of muscle physiology, intro to urology, puberty, gland tissue and blood vessels. I did well enough but I know I could do better.
I usually study in the study area but it’s been a so hot lately that I have to study in my room with my fan blowing. This was more of a revision session than a study session, later today I’ll start studying for Monday’s test, which I’m super nervous about because it’s on everything we’ve done this semester.
Whilst studying I had the Apple Music ‘It’s Lit’ playlist on (with very low volume so as not to get distracted) I wanted something fun to listen to because the work was getting kinda boring. Usually I have earphones in but because I was in my room I just let it play straight from my phone. I didn’t have any snacks because this was right after breakfast which was a sandwich. I had water and my always present Vaseline.
Today’s pictures I admit are much better than yesterday’s but I still can’t decide what type of layout is effective for me. How do you guys plan your study layout?
