I get so smiley thinking about Luffy and his birthday. May 5th is- obviously- Cinco de Mayo, but its also Children's Day in Japan. The date his birthday falls on is a celebration in both of the cultures that Luffy embodies (even before OPLA and we got Iñaki Godoy, I remember a lot of talk and headcanons that Luffy was Brazilian or some form of Latino, which I completely adored). God bless Oda. I could totally overanalyze or rant about this for longer, but I'll let you all celebrate instead.
