What did you think of Julie?
I think she's neat.
(Before one of the punk meetups, Lou gets there early and sees Parker talking and laughing with a girl that she seems very familiar and comfortable with. She's helping her set up a couple snack containers.) - @vandalized-swingset
[Lou sets some of the donated magazines that he'd brought for the 'zine making session down on the crafts table before walking over.]
Hi! You're new!
Oh hi!! Yes, I'm Julie! It's nice to meet you! (she extends a hand to shake)
(Her accent sounds midwestern and she has short blonde hair up in a ponytail, light brown eyes, as well as nose bridge and septum piercings. She's wearing an unbuttoned black plaid shirt with a pink choker and graphic tee underneath.)
Nice t'meet you too, Julie! I'm Lou, an' I'm assumin' you've already met Parker.
[He shakes her hand.]
Your piercings are cool.
(She laughs) Yes, well, we met when we were around ten! And thank you! I like your jacket.
Oh wow!
Thanks!
Yep, we were foster siblings together for a bit. (Parker nods) That house sucked. It did. But at least we're here now!
I'm glad y'all got out.
...So am I. Anyway! How'd you and Parker meet?
We met through a mutual friend an' I kinda tossed a sewin' an' patch kit at him as a welcome gift.
That's nice of you! Bet he got lotsa use out of that. (she lightly elbows Parker) Yeah, I did. Lou was also one of the people who got me to quit smokin'.
Really?? Oh thank goodness, I'm glad you got help with it.
Yeah... I gave him an' his foster sister a buncha dum dums to help with cravings.
Dum dums?
Uh...regional thing, right.
They're a brand of suckers.
[He digs through his pockets and produces one.]
They look like this.
Ooh! Yes, those! They're tasty. If only I'd smoked, maybe I'd've been given some too. (she jokes, and Parker laughs)
They definitely helped. 's surprisin' how much just having a way to keep your mouth busy helps- scratch that, sounds dirtier than it did in my head.
If you really want some, I can bring a few for next time that aren't pocket gross.
Pfff.
Really?! That's so nice of you!
Yeah, really. I um...I've got a lot of 'em an' I don't mind sharin'.
Thanks, Lou. (she beams) Now, we should get the rest of this stuff set up, yeah?
No problem, Julie.
Mhm. Let's do it.

Hi! You're new!
(Lou's at a bush party when she sees Cordelia holding a red solo cup and looking at it with mild suspicion.) - @flowering-mayberries
You think someone spiked that?
Don’t know! Do you all drink out of these things at these parties?
I mean, yeah. It's kinda a staple of this kind of thing.
Let me take a whiff. I should be able to tell if it's safe or not.
(She holds it out to him)
[He sniffs it.]
Yeah, you're good.
Great! (she starts downing it almost immediately.)
Do you not have any rich friends or anythin' that you party with?
What, and miss out on the authentic American experience?!
Sorry about your breakup, by the way.
Heh.
Thanks. It'd been a long time comin'. Just wish we could've handled it quietly instead of all in public like that.
Yes, that was.... (she winces) likely a pretty bad time for it to happen. Are you feeling okay about it? I didn't know he was such an ass...
I mean, I felt like shit about it for a few days, but I'm just kinda numb about it now. Sometimes you want things to work out and they really don't, y'know?
(She looks at him worriedly) Oh. Sure. I've... not dated properly before, or rather, not of my own volition, so I don't know the feeling well.
I'm okay, really. I just process stuff a little funny.
Did your family do like arranged matches or somethin'?
Well, yes, sort of. They wanted me to marry rich, so I was set up with several different dashing young men. I didn't end up staying with any, though. All too vain. Unlike myself. (she giggles like she's kidding)
The boys here aren't any better, I will say. So disrespectful and pushy.
Jesus. I'm lucky I managed to avoid any of that with my folks.
There are some good guys for datin' out there prob'ly. They're just way fuckin' hard to find.
(She shrugs) I don't know if I'll bother at this point. I uh, may have had a crush on your ex, but he seems like a bad apple...
Fair.
Guess the silver linin' of the public breakup is that it helped you dodge a bullet, huh?
Always better to learn from someone else's mistakes first!
Ha!
How's stuff goin' for ya' besides romantic disappointmentn?
Hummm, well, it's been relatively uninteresting. I got fine class marks, played tennis, went to a few parties... Cedric is awfully worried, though. Lots of pressure on the poor fellow.
What's he worried about specifically?
(She blinks at her) Well, our parents were assassinated, and part of our finances are tied up in the unfinished will and testament that their lawyers are being rather large pricks about.
If I had a nickel...
Jesus fuckin' christ that's awful.
...
Yeah, I guess it is. (she gets a distant look in her eyes before snapping back to herself) But we're having an okay time here!
Prob'ly oversteppin' so if you don't want to answer then don't, but has Cedric gotten you in therapy at all?
What?! No, no, why would we do that??
Your parents were assassinated. That's kinda pretty traumatic.
…Maybe, but I- don’t want to. Go to therapy, I mean.
Okay.
Have you got any friends besides me?
Are we friends?
And err, not particularly, or at least not real ones. I'm distantly related to important people and I'm rich, so that means most of us are only networking or being fake at each other.
We're at least friendly.
So you've got no idea how to actually make friends, huh?
(She taps her chin) I suppose not?
Do you want advice on that, or would you like me to shut up?
(She quirks a brow) Well, you can give it a go.
Tryin' out different clubs at school an' in the community is a good way to meet people. If you find somethin' you're passionate about an' other people share that interest, you might be able t'make some friends there. A lotta school friendships form by forced proximity, but if you want to find somethin' outside of that, havin' a structured hangout time like a club meeting can be helpful. An' don't just stay interested in you. Good way to form bonds is to show a genuine interest in others and get curious about them and the things they're interested in. Askin' questions and what not is a good rule of thumb. Try and help where you can, but always make sure to ask first and listen to the answer you're given.
..I'll keep all that in mind. Thank you. Now to get some hobbies...
You're welcome.
I, um- (her phone starts ringing, quietly, with a classical music ringtone. She fishes it out of her pocket and looks at it.)
Oh blimey, I've missed fifteen calls from Cedric- you know, I think I'll be going. It was nice speaking with you again, Lou! Ta-ta!
(and she hurries off)
Nice talkin' to you too, Cordelia. Get home safe!
