Can we talk?
@lost-1n-orbit
...
Emerson: Did you apologize?
Fuck Face: Yes Fuck Face: I can do it again if you want. I know what I did was fucked. I've been working on fixing things. Fuck Face: I understand if you don't want to talk or be friends ever.
[Contact has been changed from "Fuck Face" to "T. Lou"]
Emerson: Are you going to try your best to be a safe person from now on?
T. Lou: I promise I already am.
Emerson: Yeah. We can talk. Emerson: I mean in general. Emerson: Because I think you reaching out was for the purpose of the conversation we just had but I don't know so I'm going to let you respond and we'll keep going from there.
T. Lou: Thank fuck. T. Lou: I missed talking to you.
(Lou hears two posh British voices talking in the hall near the entrance to the school. One sounds about Lou’s age and the other sounds around Allan’s age. They’re a psychokinetic and a telepath.)
I’m making a great first impression! Why are you doubting me?
I’m not. I’m just worried about you fitting in.
I don’t need to fit in! I need to fit out!
(The man sighs)
- @flowering-mayberries
Are y'all new?
[Lou stops walking and looks over at them.]
(Cordelia gasps and waves excitedly)
Hii! Yes, we’re from England!
(Cedric sighs and puts his head in his hands)
I’m a student here, but my dear brother Cedric isn’t! He was just checking in to give me my lunch!
[Lou waves back a little awkwardly.]
Sounds excitin'. Nice t'meet you Cedric an'...?
Cordelia!! It’s wonderful to meet you, … (she looks briefly confused as she realizes she doesn’t know what honorific to use for Lou) …um, what’s your name?
I'm Lou. He/she pronouns, an' if you're wantin' to use gendered honorifics, you really can't go wrong either way.
(Cordelia seems to buffer for a moment before smiling) Oh! That does make things easier! It’s nice to meet you, Lou! (She offers a hand to shake)
(Cedric just nods to Lou, but leaves like he’s got somewhere to be.)
[He shakes her hand.]
Nice t'meet you too, Cordelia.
What classes have ya' got?
English, Algebra, Physics, and History! I will say, I find the history courses oddly formatted.
How so?
[She cocks her head curiously.]
The.. information is just different from England's, that's all!
Lemme guess. It's a little US centric for your tastes?
I just didn't know how big of a deal the little, er, American revolution was here. The one that made America halt being a colony of the United Kingdom.
I mean, if your nation had been a colony, I'd think that the revolution ending foreign rule would be a pretty big deal. What's a thing your history classes in England focus on?
Well, we do focus on the world wars, and.. a lot of our own history, really, like the history of the Empire and its' monarchs.
An' that's 'cause that's a big part of your long history an' so that's important to your country an' then is important to you. Same principal when learnin' history in another country. You learn what's relevant an' important to them an' that might not be what you'd have thought is important.
Well, I know that, I'm not stupid. It just seems like.. some things are downplayed more here, and other things are downplayed more than in England.. and I think I also understand why people condemn the American education system now.
Oh yeah, whole thing's gettin' gutted by the current administration. It fuckin' sucks.
Ah. Yes, Cedric seemed stressed about our move here due to the current governmental sitch. I didn't realize it was quite this bad. Why haven't you all deposed of... well, I suppose I did hear about the attempts to do so, never mind.
Pff. Yeah, if only.
Hmm.
Say, your jacket has a similar style to… Do you know a Parker?
Yeah. I actually got him introduced to this kind of stuff.
I know the whole movement kind of got a lot of it's feel in the 70s in London. Are you familiar with its history at all?
Interesting!
(She blinks) Ummm, nooo...
That could be something to look into if you ever get the hankerin' for it.
Perchance!
..I should get to my class, I can't be late while I'm representing my fair country.
Good luck gettin' to class!

Ezekiel.
So that's the name of my biological father, and the name of the man whose death I Saw...
Ezekiel as in the prophet.
Man, my coming was foretold or some shit.
Fate really does have the subtlety of a brick to the face.
