Sky star sheepishly pokes his head into the nursery to see his two kits, peakneedle perks up, surprised but not upset, and welcomes him with a quiet purr

“What did you name them..?”

“This is Stonekit, and that one’s Graykit”

Skystar dipped his head and smiled “they’re lovely..”

Peakneedle nodded and looked down at the kits, thinking for a moment before looking up and speaking to Skystar

“Just because we fell out..” she gently nosed Stonekit, who had yawned and rolled over, curling into a small ball “doesn’t mean I want our kits to lack a… somewhat normal upbringing…”

Skystar nodded “same here… our differences shouldn’t affect them..”

“Agreement to leave them out of our issues?”

Skystar nodded “agreed.”

Peakneedle gently touched her tail tip to skystars shoulder and smiled a little groggily

“Mousefur said I should try to rest up.. I think she’s right..”

Skystar nodded and dipped his head again, turning to leave “as do I.”

Peakneedle perked up her head to skystar and spoke softly as he left “and Skystar?”

He turned around and glanced at her

“Take care, okay?”

“You too.”

And with that, they separated once more.

i don't think Skystar was love bombing Peakneedle, i feel like that's a bit of an extreme word to use? like overbearing maybe but it would come from a place of genuine concern i would think, not him trying to manipulate her

especially with almost seeing her get hit by a monster before, of course he'd be worried over her wellbeing wouldn't he?

i could just be looking too far into stuff though, don't mind me ^^'

You’re exactly right, but both parties see it as a hard situation, see he wasn’t love-bombing at all, but that’s not how peakneedle saw it

Peakneedle had a rough past before she formed lostclan with everyone, and she never understood affection as anything but transactional. She can’t understand him not trying to gain anything from it.

With skystar he was being a little overbearing sure, but you’re completely right. He’s a very caring cat and after having to save peakneedle and after him finding out she was expecting his kits he was becoming a little overprotective of her.

Of course, it’s just one of those situations where both parties did love each other but the situation was complicated and they didn’t work out because of past traumas or events.
