Papyrus shook, bones rattling with undiffused rage. All this time. Right under his nose. He took in the way his brother’s body occupied as little space as possible. The way his tough-looking leather swallowed him up nearly completely. The way his eyelights were dim distant stars in his skull, focused on nothing. Mind nowhere.
All this time, Sans hid this from him. Still protecting him from the harshness of real life. Despite EVERYTHING–
They never really grew up, did they?
Papyrus charged a blaster to dispel the roiling pit of energy itching incessantly to be let out from his bones. Sans snapped out of his stupor when their front door simply ceased to be in the ensuing discharge.
Papyrus watched his brother shrink even more as he stalked towards him, surely a terrifyingly dark expression on his face. Sans tried to say something. Squeaked when Papyrus picked up his entire body and pressed him painfully against his own sternum. Sans’s eyelights constricted at the intensely bright magic boring into his skull.
“You,” the voice rasped out, filled to the brim with malice and authority, “will never let anyone touch you, again.”
Papyrus gripped the top of his spine uncomfortably so he couldn’t turn away. “You are my monster, now. You will stay by my side. You will answer to me and me, alone. Is that absolutely clear?”
Sans squirmed a bit, jaw working soundlessly. Papyrus decided he needed more incentive.
He forcibly opened the reluctant skeleton’s mandible and invaded his mouth. Sans let out a moan of protest and dug his phalanges into his brother’s collarbones. When Papyrus was satisfied he had gotten the point across, he pulled back, the two of them gasping for air.
“Boss, what the fuck?” he panted, voice surging stronger than before. Good, Papyrus preened.
“Until you show me” –his voice came out a pitch black rumbling wave straight into Sans’s core– “that you can adequately protect yourself, you are under my charge.
"I will perform every action you need,” he continued, setting Sans down on the couch with no heed to the completely absent front door. Sans shivered at the familiar magic prickling all over his bones. Was Papyrus…marking him? He glanced down and saw a iridescent red sheen to his bones that wasn’t there, before. A ward of protection. And ownership.
His skull snapped up with indignation. “No way! I’m not a starsdamned pet! Keep your shitty magic to yourse–”
His protests were cut off by a surge of magic to his soul. Brotherhood, guardianship, kill them all save you save you save my family. Red’s sockets fluttered at the intensity of warm feelings. “I can do it myself,” he muttered breathily, unintentionally pushing closer to that protective influence.
“No you can’t!” Papyrus snapped, making Sans twitch with the other monster’s flash of irritation. “I will protect you,” he grumbled, re-centering himself with a sigh. “I will keep you fed and sheltered. And I–” He briefly looked to the side to gather his nerve. “Will keep you satiated.”
He leaned in once more to claim Sans’s mouth, this time, with no resistance.
