"You’re awake." Palmer voiced her surprise, her tone fluctuating slightly as she walked forward, each footstep louder than the beeping heart monitor snuggled in the corner. She looked the woman over for a moment.

"It’s 22:12." She casually offered up the time to the ‘Jane Doe’ seated before her. "And you are safely aboard the UNSC Infinity."

Best try to be as friendly and diplomatic as possible, why didn’t she just stay as an NCO like a smart person?

"I am Commander Sarah Palmer, it was one of my teams that found you wounded on Requiem. Do you remember anything that has happened before waking here?"

22:12? Shit, she must’ve been out for a long while. The last time she remembered during the assault was 0347. UNSC Infinity. She repeated the words in her head over and over. All she could muster up were questions with little in the way to guess at the answers. What is the UNSC? What class of ship is the Infinity, who made it, and how? If she had to guess, this mysterious UNSC was some kind of military organization and one she had never heard of before.

Shepard kept her eyes locked on the visitor curiously. She had no idea if she was safe here, and was eager to learn more.

Commander? Well, that was interesting. It also contributed to the idea of the UNSC being a military force of some kind. She had never heard of it before, not even when Cerberus sent her on that suicide run and she had some access to their intel.

Requiem. This was definitely a clue, she decided. Last she remembered, she had been in orbit above Earth. Moreover, could she tell them anything at all? Pretending not to remember was a dangerous game, but she honestly didn’t know who she could trust. At the same time, however, she didn’t want to lie.

“What cluster is that in?” Shepard queried hesitantly. “I was in orbit above Earth, Commander. I shouldn’t be here…”

Hell, she shouldn’t even be alive.
