On his feet, he went to knock on the bathroom door, swallowing. "Rainer?" No response. As he tried to fuss with the handle, it seemed to be locked, and he began to feel a building sense of dread. Anna’s expression was soft as she spoke to Paul, and her gaze remained on him. He seemed to shift awkwardly, looking down to his paws as she watched him. A moment later, he focused his attention back on the Delcatty.

Paul: I’ll admit, I’m a little surprised you waited as long as you did to move after… you know.

Anna: But moving doesn’t just happen overnight, you know? Paul: I know.

He put a paw on her shoulder sympathetically, and she seemed to appreciate the gesture. Things were quiet for a moment or so longer before Paul perked up again.

Paul: Oh, yeah - I hope this isn’t too much to ask. Do you remember anything from the day he died? Anna: Daniel? Paul: Yes. I want to know what you remember from that Christmas day. I-If that’s okay to ask.

Rainer is nearsighted! He lost his glasses when he died & came back and just never got them back. (although he doesn't technically need them anymore, since the screen technically makes his vision better than it was)

I'll bundle this one in as a bonus since you asked: so Rainer's technically one of my human characters - his face deal actually works differently in human form!

When he dies his face gets obscured by what essentially is a layer of static that in turn becomes his face. This design element was changed in the PKMN verse for him since screen faces are just kinda cool and they're easier to draw the logistics of when viewed at different angles.
