First Date || Rebecca & Flynn
Eugene Flynn had been waiting for a few minutes already. He had arrived to the meeting place earlier than was agreed, of course, so that was expected. He felt strangely excited for the outing, which was also unusual for him. After all, he never did have a hard time asking girls out and going out with them, but he just assumed this one was very different.
The man was leaning against the wall, looking to both sides of the populated street in front of him. They had decided to meet in front of a fountain close to the local park. He was wearing an untucked white shirt, with simple jeans underneath. He wore his usual jacket and what looked like a slim brown sweater between the two pieces of clothing, unzipped in the middle.
Rebecca stood in front of the mirror in her room, fixing her hair before she left. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd been out with a guy, and she was pretty excited. She walked out of the house in jeans and a red top.
She walked up to the fountain where she was supposed to meet Flynn, slightly nervous. She looked around and spotted him up against a wall. The blonde walked over to him, smiling slightly.
"Oh, don’t you just wish that you could take pictures so everyone could see it the way you do?"
"Oh, definitely! It never seems to transfer onto paper right, no matter how often I try."

"Of course not. Why would I need a book?” The idea was preposterous. He wouldn’t read a book for pleasure. “My friend is in hospital. I thought I’d bring her something to do other than count the tiles on the roof.” 78. He’d counted when she was passed out. Three times. He smiled his usual ‘grateful’ smile when a woman fell under his curse, and did him a favour. It was complimentary at this point. “Thank you.” All the books looked exactly the same. How was he suppose to find one among the sea of books?
"Uh. to read? Like most people do? God, how did you get through school with that attitude?" She realized that some people didn't love to read, but she'd never seen a guy with this attitude before. "Well, that's nice of you." She smiled lightly at the man. "I'll be right back." She walked over to the shelves and, after a few minutes, found the book. "Here you go."
"Oh it was even prettier in my dream. I do wish I could just show everyone what I saw it as."
"That's where I see half of what I draw. My dreams. And you're right, it's always much prettier there."
Pirates? Pirates were interesting. Well, more interesting on the big screen, but it was better than nothing. “Yeah, it’s just what she needs. She’d love it.” He paused, before looking at her in confusion, “Now, where do I find it?”
"She? So, it's not for you." She raised an eyebrow. She should've known the guy didn't want it for himself. "Alright. Uh, I don't work here, but I can try and help you out."
"Sometimes! Nothing quite like that though. I tend to… here. I’ll show you." She pulled her bag onto her lap and pulled out her own, newest sketch book, opening it to a few pages in. A large castle took up most of the page, with a checkerboard spanning the bottom half.
"Wow! That's awesome!" She looked closely at the castle. "It's so pretty."

"Somehow I doubt that," he responded, looking at her sceptically. He’d never found a book he’d even consider glancing at. "Adventure!" he pointed at her, smiling. Yes, that was good. Abril liked adventure, didn’t she? She’d liked hunting. "Now there’s what I’m looking for."
"Well, if you find the right one, you'd be surprised." She looked at him, rolling her eyes. "Yes, adventure. It's about pirates and battles." She looked at him, surprsed at his change in attitude. "Really?"
"Terrible, maybe not, but they’re all boring in the same. Just words on pages. Who’d want to waste their time on something so useless?" Oh, right, Abril would. "Do you have any suggestions?"
"Not at all. Some books I've read are so exciting, you just can't put them down." There were some she had disliked though not all were dull. "Treasure Island, for one. It's an adventure."

"If you want to, then you should!" It seemed so black and white to her. If you want it, get it! "No… I’m still in high school but I will be in the Fall!"
Rebecca smiled at Vannie. "It's not always that easy." The girls view of the world was refreshing, but even she wasn't that positive.
"I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I need a book." Ew. It even sounded disgusting coming from him, and he could make anything sound wonderful.
"Books aren't that terrible. Only some are tedious." Rebecca smirked at the mans comment.
It's... Expressive
"Are you going to be a painter? When you’re a little older I mean. Are you in college?"
"I'd like to. I don't know if it'll happen though. Yeah, I am. Are you?"

"What can I say? I don’t control what gets in your head, little lady," he replied with a shrug. "The weekend sounds good, though I have something to do on Friday already." He scribbled osmething down in a piece of paper, and pushed it across the counter. "That’s my number, in case anything comes up. Or you want to chat, y’know, that’s good too."
"Awesome. I'll be sure to use it." She smiles and takes the piece of paper, slipping it into her bag. She puts some money on the counter to pay for her drink, and stood. "I'll see you soon then, Flynn." Rebecca stood and walked out of the bar.
