Collin leans down to collect snow in his hands and then tosses it at her. “Shut up.”
"Then it's us Americans that hate being wrong, huh?" She said bitterly, wiping the snow off of her jacket. "Way to debunk your own point."
“Listen, you said you could change my mood without me knowing. That is creepy and a little threatening. If I suddenly said I could boil the liquids in your body, it’d be creepy. Why do Americans have such a hard time admitting when they’re wrong?”
"But you see, I said I could, I never said I was going to. Maybe you're just a bit, I don't know, paranoid?" She saw his point, so in truth she was just messing with the kid.
Izobel set her mug on a nearby end table, chuckling at Charlotte’s suggestion for her working hours. “As long as it doesn’t get me in heaps of trouble, then yeah. I think there are shenanigans to be had in the library.” The dark haired witch was somber, listening to what the other girl wanted to tell of her story, figuring the ‘stuff’ was the tricky part that she didn’t want to dive into. “Yeah, sometimes we can be tricky to find, which is hopefully for our safety more than anything.” She gave her another light squeeze. “Well, we mean it when we say Coven means family. I know I certainly wouldn’t want you going back. I don’t think I’ve ever made a friend so quickly.”
"I wouldn't get you in trouble, what kind of friend would I be if I did." She nodded at her words, "Definitely. There are some, um, humans out there that really hate us, huh?" She didn't want to say 'hunters' because she feared them so much she was afraid of even uttering the notion that they existed. They were out there, that she knew, but she preferred to pretend she lived in a world where they didn't. "Aw, thank you. Same here. Who would have thought, glitter bringing two people together." She joked, trying to lift their spirits up somewhat.
He stared at her. “Threatening then, does that word work better for you?”
"Threatening?"
"I'm a petite, eighteen year old girl. And you feel threatened how...?" 'He's joking, right?' she thought, holding back her laughter.
"Well, feel free to stop by any time. I’ll most likely be in my room and will be able to put you to work right away." She shrugged, taking a long sip of her hot chocolate. "Then it’s perfect. I took a later shift so I wouldn’t have to worry about my mom, but it means there won’t be a lot of people in the library, so the company will definitely be welcome. Plus there’s tons to read in there. She scooted closer, wrapping her arm around the girl, giving her a light squeeze. "You don’t have to tell it all right now. Start wherever you’re comfortable, even if it’s just when you first came to the Coven. Or just even the start of your day today."
"Yes m'am," she said, finally sipping her own mug of hot chocolate which by then wasn't actually hot anymore. "That's even better, we could fool around without anyone even knowing." Feeling the warmth from her embrace definitely helped, but Charlotte was still unsure. If she wanted to explain why she came across the Coven in the first place, she'd have to go over the events that led her to that point. "After... Some stuff, I spent a few months alone, practicing my Craft and staying hidden. It was then that I discovered this place, reading up on some grimoires I had with me. They weren't much of a lead and it took me awhile to find you guys, but, here I am. I'm really trying to make this my permanent home, I can't go back to my old life. Not anymore."

“That makes it less creepy because…? Lottie. That is an… interesting name.”
"If we're being honest here, it wasn't creepy to begin with. It's short for Charlotte, my 'actual' name."
Izobel smiled warmly. “You really would?” The witch wasn’t one to just accept someone’s offer when she knew it was out of pity. But it sounded sincere coming for Charlotte, and some days were starting to feel just so hard. A second set of eyes and hands to give her a world of help. “Well, I’ve covered most of the bad. As for some good… Oh, I’m going to start working in the library one night a week. So you should definitely visit me. Catch up on some reading.” She didn’t want to jump into her reasons for spending her extra time in the library just yet. “What about you? It’s your turn for the good, the bad, and the ugly.”
"Of course, it'd be my pleasure!" she said without a moment of hesitation. She could see the brunette needed help, and Charlotte herself could use the company so why would she said no. "Really? That's exciting! And I'll definitely come visit you, like twenty-four seven actually. I'm a bit of a book nerd, to be honest." She giggled, only to stop once Izobel asked her to tell her her story. Was she ready for that? Sharing her story when she herself didn't know if she could say the word's out loud. Mother and brother murdered, on the run with her father for two years, abandoned by her father only a month ago. She wanted to say something less... Complicated. But how? "You sure? I-I don't even know where to start, really."
“Well that didn’t sound creepy as fuck,” he mumbled as he reached down to pat at the snow. Coven witches were creepier than he’d originally thought. “Who are you? I haven’t seen your face around here before.”
She rolled her eyes, "It's my gift. Empathy. But I'm Lottie, fairly new here so I'm not surprised you don't know about me.
Izobel led the two of them to a free couch, gingerly sitting down so at not to spill her hot chocolate. She reached over, patting the girl’s knee. “Thanks. I know she does. We’re just both doing the best we can.” She shrugged. “No, I was so young whenever they left, I hardly remember them. So, they want to be a family again, they need to find me. It’s not like my mother and I have had the means to go anywhere else.” She sighed, shaking her head. “Sorry, I’m monopolizing the conversation with my sob story.”
Putting her own hands on top of Izobel's, she smiled, "Well, count me in. If you need someone to help you, I'm your girl. And I won't take no for an answer." She knew what it was like having only one person of your family still alive, or in Izobel's case, still with her. Charlotte had no problem sympathizing with the witch. "You're not, I don't you I wanted to know everything. The good and the bad. Trust me, I can understand where you're coming from."
“Well,” he said crossing his arms over his chest and a piece of candy into his mouth. “I guess I can deal with it for just one day.”
"I could change your mind about that. And you wouldn't even realize it," she rarely used her gift, not wanting to influence others unless necessary or voluntary. But, hey, this was as much fun she was going to have.
“No,” he said as he kicked some of it away from his feet. “I’m not sure I like it.”
Amused, she laughed, "It's just snow. Besides, from what I've heard this is the only day you're going to have to deal with it. Stay strong," she mocked him but in good nature. Hopefully the boy could see that.
Izzy blinked a moment, a bit taken aback by the request. “We can ease ourselves in to everything.” She smiled, taking a sip of her hot chocolate, took a deep breath, and dove in. “Well, it’s just me and my mom. I have brothers, but they left home as soon as they could, so it’s really only ever just been me and my mother, since my dad died the day I was born.” Her voice grew quiet, thoughts of a curse and a potion distracting her from her new friend. She took another breath, getting back on track. “But yeah, it’s pretty just been my mom and me, me taking care of her. I like it though, just me and her.”
Her smile faded slowly as the brunette kept talking about herself, her family. Her free hand squeezed the woman's arm that was wrapped around her own, gently, as if to give her some sort of condolences without outright saying it. "I'm so sorry, but at least you two have each other. I'm sure your mother appreciates you a lot." She paused, "Have you kept in touch with your brothers at all?"
He stood in front of the Coven’s gate with a box full of red hots in hand. His eyes wandered around the area, watching as the snow fell. “What the fuck is this?!”
"A little thing called snow," she said as she passed by the witch, "Never seen it before?"
Izobel laughed, dropping a few extra marshmallows on top of her drink. She turned back to her new friend. “Yep. Let’s find some couches and get comfy.” She walked over, wrapping her free arm around Charlotte’s once more. It was partially out of friendliness, partially so that she could lean a bit of her weight on to the other girl.
Relatively new, Charlotte doesn't have many people inside the Coven to call friends, just acquaintances here and there. But she could tell Izobel was different, some she could actually confide in and not just a passing face. "So, tell me more about yourself," she said as they walked towards the lounge, "I wanna' know everything."
Addison turns her head as she is being walked off, calling out to the young woman, “I will, thank you.”
