🌹FACE 2 FACE 🌹
First I want to talk about the smooth production of this track done by the amazing Doize Ike(Aka BigDipper77). The first time I heard this beat I knew I wanted to do something special with it. Not just bar it up but speak on some things that people could resonate with. Like loyalty and death. My heart was heavy around the time of this recording as it was just two months after the passing of my friend J Rose. He was my younger brother’s best friend and spent almost every weekend over at our crib. When he passed away I felt as if there was nothing I could possibly say to my little brother to ease his pain. For the first time in my life I just didn’t have the words.
I think that’s ironic because this song plays like a phone call between two brothers. Monday Night, an artist whose writing I’ve always admired approaches this track like he’s speaking to his younger brother. With his first bar being “Yeah it’s cool” almost to say “yeah I see you hurting but it’s going to be alright”. Which is the perfect parallel to the sentiments I share in my verse.
On “FACE 2 FACE” I’m speaking from my younger brother’s perspective. Feeling the hurt and survivors guilt of losing my best friend. Facing the fact that my brother is gone.
