Teaching 'Art Writing: Developed and Distilled Upon the Page', International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, 17–29 August 2026
This summer I will teach a course in art writing and editing at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, from 17–29 August 2026. This course centres the “art” in art writing and asks you to get up close and personal with why art matters to you. It focuses on language to ask what it means to write authentically and accessibly about your opinions on and experiences of art, and how to make that compelling for a reader. If you're interested in applying, you can read more about the course here.

'Becoming Writing: Navigating Art Through the Written Word' at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts
This summer I devised, developed, and taught a course in art writing and editing for students at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, as part of which they produced this wonderful zine of experimental art writing and criticism.
As I wrote in my editorial for this publication: Initially, I wanted this course to see body, sensation, and thought coalescing to become writing during two weeks at the Summer Academy. Multi-layered answers crystallising. Yet soon I also began to wonder: What would a school of questions look, sound, and feel like? How might it move, smell, and taste? What modes of writing could emerge from not having all (if any) of the answers, from prioritising not knowing and, instead, shaping modes of thinking with others? From letting the so-called centre dissolve into a set of relations: questions snowballing into writings.
Bergen Assembly: Text and Editorial Lead
I lead on the text and publications strategy for this year's edition of Bergen Assembly, which opens on 11 September and runs until 9 November. Convened by Ravi Agarwal, Adania Shibli, and Bergen School of Architecture (BAS), the assembly is titled across, with, nearby and asks: In what sense can love act as a public force, capable of countering social, ecological, economic, and political injustices? You can read more about this edition at our e-flux announcement here.
