Exam season was just around the corner, and Dominic, like every other student in New York, was scrambling to get their notes in order. However, his was nowhere close. With blueprints, laptop, notes and snacks hastily shoved into his bag, Dominic made his way to the library in search of a quiet corner to cram. But as his usual seat was occupied, he decided to go to head upstairs to an area he used to frequent more often. The top floor of the library was quiet though nearly all the seats were occupied. But out of the corner of his eye, he spotted one empty seat across from a hooded figure. Quickly, and before anyone else had the chance to take it, he made his way over and stopped by the person. “Hey, you mind if I crash here? I promise not to tap my foot or pen or anything obnoxious like that,” he said, flashing his most charming smile in the hopes of winning over the seat. “I’ll even share half my muffin.”

Louisa took a moment to glance up at the familiar figure hovering above her, her heart momentarily beating faster than it had on her run that morning. When she left a few months ago, she needed time away from her extremely tumultuous relationship with Dom, and with that time she was able to work through a few of her residual feelings for him. She felt sad, but also somewhat emboldened by the idea of being the bigger person. Maybe they could just have a friendship without any messiness? Maybe they could be adults? Either way, as he stood above her, she couldn’t help but feel relieved that he was there and she was back. As much as they fought, as many tears as she cried about him, he still felt like home. He still meant everything to her.
“You? Share? Damn, you really did some growing up over the last three months, Dom.”
