Week 4 – Daily updates 30/4/18 – 4/5/18

Monday – We spoke with Yvonne today about our weekly reflections on g+ and began preparing for the presentation. After a week of having no contact with Niall he finally resurfaces to inform us that his laptop is broken and that all the files he has been working on were on that. We showed him our progress and he seemed pleased enough, we continued each with our chosen scenes.

Tuesday – The illness I had before resurfaced and I was bedbound for the entire day, I continued working from home but got very little done

Wednesday – The illness preceded and I got a bit more done than yesterday but still not enough as I would have liked

Thursday – Was back in college today, proceeded to rig my final scene and started putting together my presentation for next week

Friday – Today was pretty much just working on finalising the scene to prepare for putting it all together. I spent the rest of the day finishing the presentation and working on reflective work for the entire work experience

Week 3 - Daily Updates 23/4/18 - 27/4/18

Monday – we continued working on our scenes rigging the characters into the backgrounds. We did not meet with Niall today so we were given no direction on how to go about moving forward with the brief, so far we are behind in schedule since the first week was wasted on redesigns which were not eventually used so working on foley has taken a back seat.

Tuesday – This day was particularly slow since it was the same monotonous work of rigging and animating was done. There was a job opportunity in troy studios so I spent a bit of the day fixing my cv and behance in order to apply for the job, I balanced looking for work with the studio work just fine.

Wednesday – I continued ahead editing assets to be rigged for animating.

Thursday – Continued with editing assets to be animated for the rigging process, still no word from Niall we have just chosen to continue working on our chosen scenes

Friday – Again continued with the same work as yesterday, still no word from Niall.

Week 2 – Daily Updates 16/4/18 – 20/4/18

Monday – This week started off slow since I was still recovering from the chest infection from the week before, the weekend was spent mainly working on ccs so I had little sleep which didn’t help the recovery process. When I touched base with my group again and I was informed that all our character redesigns and background improvements had been scrapped. This came as a surprise as we were specifically given instructions to do exactly this. Niall wanted us to keep with his original designs and start working on completing the pilot. We were also told to bring ideas to the story bible but Niall decided he wanted to continue working on that himself.

Tuesday – I was out today since I had still not fully recovered and given the information from the day before there was little we could do in terms of working ahead.

Wednesday – Today was still in the process of recovery and since we were told about the bible not an issue in terms of coming up with storylines the group decided to look at the pilot in terms of a marketing perspective and how to attract viewers. I was assigned to research typefaces in terms of boxiness to fit the theme of the show.

Thursday – I went back to college today to touch base with my group and see what work needed to be done, I was assigned the character expressions and speech bubbles and worked ahead on that

Friday – I started rigging the examination room scene

Week 1 - Daily Updates 9/4/18-13/4/18

Monday - Since the only information we were given about the brief was that we would be working on a childrens pilot for an animated series we spent the morning researching shows looking at what’s popular on RTE2 and TG4. We met with Niall Dickenson at 2pm to be given the official brief on the Boscaí Project, he gave us a schedule to work from and we got to work on the first task which was redesigning the characters and backgrounds.

Tuesday - We continued working on the character redesigning and got started on working on the backgrounds, we researched extensively into colour pallets and shapes that would be visually pleasing, we all drew out our own version of the redesigned characters and agreed on a single style. Melissa drew out the new charaters and I worked on cleaning up the charaters on photoshop for presentation the next day.

Wednesday - We finished the character and background redesign, met with Niall and Barry to review the work we had done, Barry critiqued our work and told us to start working on making stock footage like walk cycles, character expressions etc. Niall came back to us and said that he didn't agree with the changes so we took this as a direction to change them further.

Thursday - I came down with a chest infection so I took the day off to recover, I continued working on my own pieces that evening.

Friday - The chest infection worsened so I went to the doctors was given a prescription and told to take the week off. I did no work today but kept in touch with my group to find out what work we had to complete for the week ahead and started working on those over the weekend.

Georges Quay, 24 Hr Group Project

A quick two day project that myself and Louise Mogen made together to bring our college, Georges Quay to life! We told the quick story of King George (Who the place is named after) And his love Charlotte (Charlottes quay across the river) and their eternal love and how a river won’t separate their love. This cute folklore was the most charming aspect of our buildings history.  Seeing as the building was built in the 1950s, we went for a 50’s inspired look.
