You're that mod from raindownlove
Nope! Don't know where people are coming up with this..?
bandrpkiki Okay, as a writer & mod I also know how it feels for your blog to get picked on from the opinions blogs and that’s a reason why I’m covering this entire topic with my blog. Yes, you turn your cheek because of course, they're opinions. However, they begin to pile up and begin to become nastier by the the message. “The mods at so and so bully you if they don't get their way.” Turn cheek. “This rpg is so shitty dont even bother.” Turn the other cheek. “Characters at so and so completely ignore you and clique.” Okay why is this happening? They get to you and you feel that your best isn't cutting it. I understand we should pick our battles but the pressure builds up on you when they become nasty by the message and you can only withstand so much. With so many viewers to these opinion blogs and RPH opinion blogs, mods and writers will form their own opinion of you from what they read from the blogs. People and groups will get bad reputations from angry anons and thats what everyone is so afraid of! With your blog, I admire how in depth you are with your answers and how you do cover both sides. However, there are blogs who only post “.” or “wow they sound nasty stay away from this character/group” or “wow” even “I wouldn’t even look at this group knowing this.” They’re feeding into this angry anon and its hurting people to the point they don’t want to be online or talk to people anymore. Opinion blogs now are used more as outlets for angry writers who don’t get their way or they’re upset they lost a plot, got banned, didn't get a role, fought another writer, so on, so on. I do believe that yes, there can be good to opinion blogs and I haven’t covered that much due to the fact im more concerned with opinions that are hurting writers. I believe they can be answered in a more efficient way without making the people/group look as bad as the anon says. Now for anons, we both know we cant stop people from sending in hate. They come to the opinion blogs to vent or take down whoever didn’t let them get their way. Of course, people vent to friends and that's totally fine. Its between people who know each other. Opinion blogs are seen by almost the entire community and no one knows who runs these accounts. They need to be addressed more appropriately and need to be seen by both sides as they have more viewers and more than one person is involved. Again like your blog, everything is addressed beautifully. Its professional and no ones hurt. When opinion blogs post these opinions that are bashing writers and blogs, dont they think for a minute that “hmm will this hurt the writer/mod or personally affect them?”. Lets say an opinions blog receives a message that absolutely sounds like they're trying to sabotage a writer “So & So is always complaining and its rather irritating” instead of “Wow that sucks” we’d love more of a “Have you tried messaging the writer and politely asked them if they may stop? Talk to the mod if you havent already and let them know of your concerns. Maybe they can step in and talk to this writer and see whats wrong? Maybe its apart of a secret the writer may be enforcing and they may be taking it to far? Sometimes, writers may have a reason as to why a character may act a different way.” It covers bother the anons concerns and helps give the character a headsup and maybe they can explain themselves but wont come off offended because of the beautiful answer. There’s always two sides to an argument and opinion blogs usually stand to one side or let it go through on their blog like bait, waiting for chaos to happen.
I stand for the writers that are tired of being afraid to role play. I stand for the mods who try their best to run rpgs. No more shade.
they say that opinion blogs aren’t the problem yet…they’re the ones that aren’t attacked most of the time? Writers, RPGS and Mods are attacked. Yeah friends can chat but its a small group. Everyone follows these blogs and talking to friends, I only knew of three RPGS when opinion blogs state tens of them. Yes, tell me opinion blogs aren’t the problem when they post the most shade on writers and mods that are sent in by anons.
When fellow writers tell me they’re afraid to even post on a dash due to being put on the blogs, that’s such a huge flag for me and makes me so sad! It’s so unfair how they can post such drama but not even answer correctly! When you talk to a therapist, they don’t talk up your entire side but listen to both parties. What it is is stressful and seeing that blogs just post these opinions, it affects everyone. It affects mods, characters, everyone becomes stressed and it’s a chain reaction. We feel controlled by these blogs like if I want my character to do this one thing or a mod kicks someone for making other writers uncomfortable, they’re bashed on the opinion blogs. It’s not right! If you’re to post opinions, try and calm the situation. If they say “clique” ask “have you tried talking to them?” If they say the mods bully you ask “how did they bully you?”. We don’t understand situations and if you just post all these angry posts, people will be hurt and it’s ridiculous. Its chaotic and writers and mods I have talked to needed breaks from doing rp and the stuff that is posted is absolutely false. We dont want opinions posted where they attack characters, mods, and writers with the opinion blogs not relaxing the situation. They post “.” or “Stay away from this blog” and “wow this person is toxic” when things stated could be absolutely false and the way they are answered can at least be handled better than a dot or “stay away because this person says to!” They feed these people to the wolves! What we want is to not feel stressed anymore and feel free to play our characters as we please and mod. If you post an opinion, calm the situation. You say you’re trying to help RP but all you’re doing is stressing people out. Im tired of people feeling afraid to post and mod and have mental break downs. Its so incredibly wrong! Post positivity for once.
Seriously, If you don’t know about the matter of a situation or don’t know how to answer an anonymous opinion, don’t even answer it at all. It’s really that simple. If you’re really interested in the opinion, investigate on it to make sure what you’re being told is the truth but if you’re trying to cause problems for people…
Being A Mod Isn’t Easy!
Anons seriously make it sound so easy! Seriously the jobs Mods must do in order to make an RPG successful:
make sure they have a nice theme
make sure that peoples roles are held if asked
keep up with the blogs entire theme (tour, AU, ect.)
keep up with activity checks
make posts to follow and unfollow
add people to lists (so time consuming)
talk to writers causing drama with other writer (stressful)
making sure people are using their tags
ban members who are going against their rules
write promos to keep activity up in the RPG
answer questions
think of ways to make their RPG more active
make reserves
compare apps if needed
make sure their own characters are doing well with their own plots
make sure their characters talk to everyone so they’re not labeled a clique
break cliques
deal with people who are extremely rude to them
make sure that things said about their blogs is true off opinion blogs
make sure they’re active
try and keep the dash running
try and provide friendships with characters that aren’t really putting themselves out there
deal with anons saying how people don’t talk to them when in reality the character my not be trying hard enough.
Seriously! There’s so much more to name to this list! If you think being a mod is easy, you’re wrong!
BE NICE TO YOUR MODS! YOUR CHARACTERS WOULDN’T HAVE A HOME WITHOUT THEM!! THEY TRY THEIR BEST AND THEY’RE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME!
If you don’t like how a mod is running their place, give them some tips on how things can improve or just leave! Don’t wear them down by sending in comments to opinion blogs! That’s not helping!
If your house was falling apart you would try and fix it right…? Or would you just walk next door to your neighbors and complain how its falling apart? If you truly care about your ships or characters, talk to the mods and help!!!!
you're right. it's not cowardly for a mod to close their rp if they're getting a lot of shit for it. it's like you'd say to any writer not enjoying the game they're in, get out of it. even though it's a lot of work and stress, being a mod is supposed to be at least kind of fun. the only time being a mod is beneficial is when you're having fun. otherwise it's a soulsuck and even the best of members don't tend to realize how much work it is.
I hate how people tell you “Oh Ignore it! They’re just opinions! You run an amazing blog!” At first you begin to ignore them but they begin to get worse and worse and it starts to affect you! It then becomes almost impossible to post on your own RPG in fear that you’ll make someone upset! Seriously, people don’t understand how hard it is to mod. You have to make sure everyone feels comfortable, make sure everything is updated, make sure people know great things about your RPG, make sure problems are solved, its so hard! Seriously this is how I see opinion blogs to mods. They’re basically judgmental grandparents! “Why cant you be like so and so? Why so much make up? Why so much skin?” SHUT UP! RPG is a place to have fun! I don’t try to escape my out of character life just so I can be afraid to be posted on an opinions blog and have writers think negatively about myself or my rpg! Its terrible! Mods, I feel your pain. If you want to close your game because of opinion blogs, we understand! Its so stresfull and if its beginning to wear you down or just make your life so much harder, do it. Do whats best for you! Your health is what matters the most!
I added you to our affiliates page! :)
Thank you so much! To my lurkers, make sure to check them out!
I think that mods who close their rps because of opinion blogs are cowards. Just change up the wathe you run the place. That's all, don't get all dramatic with aod post and close the place.
Some mods take it to heart, others can’t really handle the pressure of losing people/not getting enough apps or getting any apps at all. I guess that’s what it is.
That's such an absolutely terrible thing to say! And it's not because of getting apps or more writers! It's about the reputation and lies that are told about you! If you do one thing wrong, writers will go against you and write terrible reviews where blogs like this don't even investigate what's actually going on. As a mod myself, it's so much pressure to at least post an activity check due to "did I make sure someone was on save?" Or "this person could be role hogging" or if you upset a writer, they'll get them and their friends to retaliate and write terrible things about you! It's terrible! Opinion blogs cause so much stress to everyone and when they're submitted to opinion blogs or blogs like this you don't even investigate what actually happening and just post it. Do you know how hard mods work and to be criticized? They escape to role play to have fun! Not to be judged because they forgot to put someone on save! One sided opinions are sick and people like these anons are opinions are what's making it hard to be in role play! People are afraid to play their character on the dash themselves in fear they'll appear on the opinions blog. It's a terrible sickness that needs to be cured!
I feel like this is another needed topic. The word gets thrown out way too often! Yes, it’s a group of friends but “not readily allow others to join them”. Once people see, let’s say, five characters talking to each other on the dash, I bet you money that they’re soon going to be pronounced “clique”! However, have you tried talking to them? Did they allow you into conversation? If so, this is not a clique. They’re just a group of friends talking!
However, if you try talking to them and they ignore your character as in not respond to your message yet active on the dash, just talk to that same group everyday and literally no one else (seriously no one but those five people), or begin to create matching icons and urls, this is a flag raiser as to be named “clique”.
Think of it like this: Have you seen the movie Mean Girls? If so, remember the scene where she walks into the cafeteria and is introduced to all the groups such as; Goths, Nerds, Freaks, Artists, Ect? Those are cliques. They all bond together and stay together. They don’t talk to anyone else but members of that group. Ex: Regina George, Gretchen Weiners, & Karen Smith were a clique.
For friends, think of Damian & Janis! They welcomed Lindsey Lohan into their arms and they always talked. However, even though they were always together, they always talked to different people! These are what friends on a dash look like.
Cliques: Regina George Friends: Damian & Janis
For those who haven’t seen the movie: Cliques: Cheerleaders Friends: People who befriended you in high school.
Please think of this before throwing the name “clique” around! It can cause so much drama for role play games when there possibly couldn’t be a clique at all to begin with!
This is a PSA
Everyone around here needs to acknowledge a very important thing: there is a person behind that blog you’re following. That person has a life, responsibilities, problems, good days and bad days, like everyone else. They feel, they hurt, they laugh and cry. So think twice before getting upset over them not answering your ask, or not being able to hold a conversation some of the days, or for not being happy-go-lucky every second of the day. They’re all allowed to be human, to post whatever they feel like posting on their blog, to have opinions and not have their ask be flooded with hate after posting their thoughts here. THEY ARE A PERSON. THEY HAVE FEELINGS THAT CAN GET HURT. Please acknowledge that.
How I View Opinion Blogs
1. If a writer doesn’t get their way, of course they’re going to back lash and write terrible reviews of the mods/characters on the opinion blogs! They want to do whatever it takes to get back at a writer or mod and will bring down their name just to get revenge.
2. Very one sided. Unless an anonymous sender shows proof, I won’t buy it. So sick of “mods are so bitchy” or “mods bully you so they get their way!” My advice, show the aim messages where they’re bulling you! If they’re bullying you on the dash, members will see and speak up for you thus creating a mass unfollow because who can stand bullies?? No one! Define your definition of “bitchy” and “bully” please. Did they drop your character because you didn’t follow the rules? Did they speak to you because people were feeling uncomfortable with certain posts your character was writing? Did you cause drama for other characters which caused a ban? Not all the anons sent in are friendly people!
3. Seriously, the problems posted on the blogs are so fixable. If the lists in your group arent updated, talk to your mod. If someone is bullying you, talk to the mod! Is someone ruining your plot? Talk to a mod! Is someone making you uncomfortable? Talk to your mod! If you don’t like the rpg, why are you still in it!!!?? Like stop complaining and move somewhere else if it bothers you so much!
4. HELLO! Don’t they want to make the band community a better place? Posting gossip doesn’t help at all! If gossip blogs in rpgs already cause drama (which some cases is so unnecessary) why do we need to make one based on games and writers?! Its so uncool and allows people to bully one another! “We just only post opinions that people give us” more like “Yeah im only just watching this fist fight happen in front of me and dont want to stop it and get help!” Stop spreading the hate! The reason why people want more band positivity blogs is to make people feel better after reading gossip on their blogs! stop asking for more band positivity blogs when you’re the ones posting all this drama!
5. My personal favorite, shout out to all those band rph blogs that post anonymous opinions that look like a train wreck from the start! I thought you’re a role play help blog? Why are you posting unnecessary drama? You guys are the ones people go to for help and now your putting rpgs on blast? Like my favorite ones are the opinions that are write like “this character bullied me and the dash started bulling me so and so rpg is terrible!” And the response is… Oh? Freaking “oh.” Like what are you doing?? Ask for the proof! You’re not going to investigate and would rather put “oh?” Or write “I would watch out for this character/blog” like yes thank you for taking the side of little Bo peep and not looking into this or even asking for proof. You’re not helping anyone what so ever except for the Anon who wants to bring that group/person down. You’re helping the cause of “let’s get more band positivity because I’m bringing people down” Group!
6. The only time I actually find them reliable is for banned face claims. Literally, that is it.
They seriously just make it so hard for writers to put more creativity into their characters and afraid to even post on on the dash. Thats such a terrible thing to do and shame on you for doing that and shame on all the people who send in gossip just to start drama! Your making such an amazing game turn toxic!
