Not seeing many people talk about this on Tumblr, so gonna spread the word myself: Webtoon is going to start using AI for translations and an AI chat bot with comic characters. If you're against this you should delete your account, and if you are publishing on the website, you should consider moving to other alternatives and especially having your own website to host your comic.

Also needless to say that Webtoon can absolutely afford to hire translators, this is just yet another way to not pay the people who are making the company behind Webtoon absurdly rich.

And for the people who might see this as a good decision:

Once, pollution and climate disaster tore the world apart. Floodings, desolation, storms and earthquakes became the consequences of a betrayal that cannot be made undone, a betrayal that has never been forgotten or forgiven. And though human resilience has ensured restoration of social stability, bringing back the conditions that causes catastrophe is stricly forbidden.

At the heart of an empire, once more in the midst of breaking taboo by reproducing every destructive technology in the book, Tigris flees the institution that’s kept her prisoner since she were stolen as a child.

Yet, being a non-citizen with too much magic at her finger-tips, Tigris is stuck taking the long way home - a way home that includes sabotage, rebellion, and, maybe, finding a solution to reviving the dying world around her.

What's wrong with artists using other artists' art as a reference? Haven't you ever done that?

I've talked about this ad nauseum so I'll try to keep it short, but this is a personal take that I know many of my fellow "experienced" artists share (in particular people who are comfortable with anatomy and don't rely on external references to create a pose)

Nobody owns a pose but each artist "owns" the specific way in which they draw it, and while to me it's fine to do redraws and studies of other artists to improve your own, you should make sure you have their permission to post them, or not post them at all. Some people are okay with it but a lot aren't. Even when referencing photographs too closely, I think it's good practice to make sure you either explicitly link the original or are using a copyright-free photograph (or have the permission of the photographer to use it)

In my case everything I draw (unless I explicitly link photographic references) is constructed by me. It's subconsciously inspired by every other artist I've admired and studied, but I never take someone's piece and take big "parts" of it for my own directly, at least not if I'm planning to share the art. Especially with interactions between OCs, a lot of them feel very personal and I hate seeing people copy the exact same poses and moments to slap different characters on top if that makes sense?

Obviously there's nothing I can do about it other than saying I don't want that lmao, there's no actual rule or objective line here. It's more a matter of choosing to respect an artist's boundaries, which vary from artist to artist. This is just one of my own boundaries

I want to add to this that you don't have to share everything you draw online. For experienced artists, the art you see is maybe 1-10% of the amount of work they actually put in between sketchbooks, studies, client work, visual development for bigger pieces etc.

If you're a young artists and just beginning your journey it's okay to take your time and really grow your skills. You don't have to be as amazing as your favourite artists right now, and you will naturally grow into not being too close to them as you go along this path.

Don't trip up yourself early. Art is about self-expression, after all :D and respecting your peers is an important part of that

In response, Netanyahu immediately said he was cancelling his trip to the US.

The resolution, put forward by Algeria, Ecuador, Guyana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, South Korea and Switzerland, calls for an unconditional release of all hostages on all sides.
