it’s not the date itself that’s making him so nervous — no, not when he’s already got all the experience he needs, having been on countless dates before, so many that he’s honestly lost count. it’s just that maybe, just maybe, all he wants is to impress his boyfriend, to make sure that their first date as an official couple will be a memorable one, to make him feel special, because that’s what he deserves. because sanggil truly is the most important person in his life, and jinwoo would to anything to make him happy. “ i just really want everything to be perfect, y’know? ” cue jinwoo’s famous pout as he leads the other into the elevator once the doors open, pressing the ground floor button and then leaning down to peck his boyfriend’s cheek, his hand resting protectively on the small of his back. “ i know i probably sound like a broken record right now, but god, you just look so stunning tonight. i mean, you’re always beautiful, but y’know. i love you so much, babe. ” and there he goes again, blabbering on and on about how whipped he is — it’s a miracle that he hasn’t scared sanggil off yet. once they reach their destination, he guides the other out of the elevator, then out of the building, an infatuated grin gracing his features as he holds the door open for his beloved, a cool breeze greeting them.

“ i know. ” of course the other wanted everything to be perfect ━he couldn’t really blame jinwoo for the nervousness and the antsiness when he had all possible reasons and thoughts crossing his mind in that very moment. he probably would have acted the same in his stead, if he gave a good thought about it, because he too would want things to just run smoothly. which didn’t really seem something belonging to his life, but he digressed. eyes closed for a second at the kiss in a natural gesture, lips pursed in a small pout as he knew the other moved to be expansive. perhaps it was one of his fears, the fact that someone was going to act on that. he hoped not. he hoped they could just date without any worry. “ i am sure you still look better, that’s not gonna change, ah. ” the chill of the wintry air welcoming him as he shivered, taking those few steps bringing him outside. “ i love you too, jinwoo. ”

brushing him away with a wave of her hand, she walks over back to the pianist and leans against the piano. “hey, like, can you play some kind of hip hop beat but on the piano? i can only do so much as one person. i mean to be fair you play here like what, every night? and it is the same old songs so you know best what it feels like to carry an entire performance on your own but you are mostly just sitting down and playing while i am like a veteran performer giving britney a run for her money at vegas, you know?” 

these were moments in which he was glad he knew jack shit with a hot side of none when it came to people and whatever whereabouts they could possibly have —it’d make moments like those, with the girl’s shrill and the clear desire of the date to yeet himself into oblivion since he’s been pretty much confirmed how much the girl in question had no intentions to either continue the date nor leaving herself being killed by some intense boredom stroke, so fucking memorable it was a miracle he wasn’t bursting into tears because of how much he was struggling not to laugh.

“ listen, i dunno who the hell you are and normally i wouldn’t care if you’re running to become the next IU or whatever, but god——i wish my eyes would actually work because i wanted to see whatever shitshow you just pulled on that poor guy. ” he guessed at this point, he couldn’t really be blamed for all the ruckus —not when it was pretty blatant who was causing it. he had a few beats in mind, which were hard to translate in piano form, but he could always arrange a cover of a seo taiji classic. those always sound good —so here he was, starting to play the first few notes of the beat of come back home.

among the infinite number of things jinwoo adores about his boyfriend, there’s something particularly endearing that never fails to make his heart skip a beat or two — the fact that his body is so honest around him, from the way the corners of his lips curl up into a content smile whenever he holds his hand, to the way his cheeks flush when jinwoo makes yet another racy joke. just one look at his face is enough for the younger male to be able to tell how he’s feeling, and truth be told, he’d be lying if he said he doesn’t take advantage of that, at least from time to time, teasing his beloved just to get a reaction out of him. “ that’s because it’s a secret, love. i told you to leave it all to me, didn’t i? ” and he truly did take care of everything, after spending an entire week planning out every single tiny detail, worrying about things he’s never really cared about before ( is the location he picked fancy enough? should he buy him a present, too, while he’s at it? perhaps a pretty bouquet of red roses— but wait, does sanggil even like flowers? ) just to make sure their very first date would be an unforgettable experience. “ let’s go, then, shall we? ” grabbing his keys, he opens the door for the other, not forgetting to lock it once he escorts him outside, his hand resting on his lower back as he leads him towards the elevator. “ are you excited? ”

was he being too calm? he almost feared so, in his lack of experience with anything related to the sphere of emotional involvement, especially in romantic relationships ━jinwoo being the very first he’s felt something this strong towards, being the first one who caressed his lips and held him tight and made him feel safe and sound, being the very first one to make him experience how an actual romantic date was supposed to be. it was giving him the proverbial butterflies all over his stomach, it was making him smile indeed... he just wished to be just good at expressing those emotions. perhaps he only needed time and practice, like with anythng else. “ i know, but you can’t blame me for being curious. ” even with cane at hand and chilly air telling him he was in the complex’s hallway he’d let the other slowly guide him towards the elevator ━fingers easily finding their way towards the braille embossed buttons. “ of course i am. just relax, things are going to work just fine. ”

“ ugh, same. ” she joked right back as her cup soon reached her lips to take sip of her coffee. “ but if i’m honest, it can be hard trying not to get too… desperate when you want more. ” at times, her ambition was perhaps too strong to blind her from the many things she already had, and she instead went in search for what she didn’t need. she had always felt the uncontrollable urge to obtain things that were out of reach, yet she never gave up even if it wasn’t worth the effort. giggles were brought to her lips after what he said later then. “ no way, not without your favorite, beautiful, talented, charming and smart vice president. ” she argued in the same teasingly way, evidently referring to herself. “ we would do a great team, you can’t deny it. we could make a mess together and have everyone else fixing it for us, what do you say? ” 

“ i guess so? i admit i’ve never felt that very deep kind of despair before —regular despair? a lot, yeah—, but of course one may never know. ” life could be biting him in the ass anytime soon, so having expectations was something he avoided at all costs. with a slight hum he randomly played a few notes on the piano keyboard, just to keep from fidgeting. “ of course you’re part of the team or there’s no team. ” a chuckle escaped from his lips. “ that sounds like something wonderful and shitty at the same time, it’s literally legalized torture if you think about it. is this how temptation feels like? dang —but really, what kind of song would you like to do, eventually? a ballad? ”

at times, it genuinely seems like his boyfriend is completely unaware of his own beauty and the effect it has on him — after all, he can’t see the way jinwoo always looks at him with so much love and longing, as if he’s the most exquisite thing he’s ever laid his eyes on, but that only makes the younger male want to pamper and praise him even more. “ hold on, what are you saying? ” his long lashes flutter as he blinks a few times, lips drawn into a concerned frown. careful not to startle the other, he wraps his arms around his waist from behind and pulls him against his chest, resting his chin on his shoulder and pressing a feathery kiss against the side of his neck. “ my baby is the prettiest, and that’s a fact. ” at last, he manages to detach himself from sanggil, reaching out to gently intertwine their fingers and slowly guiding him through the apartment he’s grown to love so much ever since they’ve started living together. then he finally lets go of his hand so he can slip his shoes on, looking around almost frantically and patting his pockets, making sure not to forget anything. “ i’ve got my phone right here— and my wallet, of course. and that’s it, i guess? ”

he was taken aback, completely unexpecting the other’s gesture even despite how much carefulness he could feel coming from the delicate grip grown firm around his waist and the broad chest against his shoulderblades, trace of lips brushing the slightly exposed curve of his neck causing the sightless one to barely be able to hold back his spine from arching, a noise chortled out —cheeks oh so red, oh so deliciously burning with heat right at the apples and spreading to the tiny bridge, making him feel all flustered. it was a low blow from jinwoo, leaving him almost dumbfounded for a long second or two —only regaining some form of attention when being gently guided hand in hand from the bedroom he now shared with his beloved to the entrance. “ mhn—— the keys. ” okay, he could still talk, good —time to let his feet slide in his best shoes and palm the upper part of the rack in search of his cane, eyes fluttering ever so slightly in adorableness even when finding the precious metallic guide. “ you haven’t told me where did you reserve our table. ”

it’s so easy to love sanggil, with all his endearing little quirks and adorable habits that never fail to warm his heart like nothing and nobody else does. as each day passes by, he slowly finds himself falling deeper and deeper in love with the pianist, discovering new and even more fascinating sides of him that always leave him aching to see even more, getting to know his mind, body and soul, the entirety of his being. “ mm, i do look pretty good, just so you know. ” there’s a playful grin on his lips, one that sanggil cannot see, though he can probably feel it in his voice as jinwoo runs his fingers through his hair, looking almost smug, yet sinfully charming. “ but you’re absolutely gorgeous, baby. ” the urge to pull him right into his arms and kiss him is unbearable, but somehow, god knows how, he manages to suppress it, reaching out to gently poke his forehead instead. “ come on, get ready. ”

“ it’s not that hard to imagine that. ” he knew jinwoo looked dashing, he didn’t need functioning eyes to be aware of that —nor to be petty and call out the fact jinwoo could use a mirror and wear things that weren’t an endless grayscale so that weird pairings could be averted. he knew jinwoo was just more handsome than he was —lithe and tiny, lost the count of how many thought he was just a girl with shorter hair when trying to call his attention from the back, probably not that much of a pretty face either from what he could deduce by touching his face. probably all he could do is make jinwoo look even more handsome. “ that tho, that’s hard to imagine —me being gorgeous, that is. ” with a hum he turned, turning at the poke with a grace of one used to the environment around him and aware of how to move, grabbing for his jacket to let it slide over tiny shoulders. “ i’m technically ready. the cane is at the entrance with the keys and the shoes. ”

apparently that night had to become the wildest night ever witnessed ever since the bad incident with that one drunk ceo dancing to red flavor —sanggil really dumbfounded, just blinking with his dead blind eyes at the girl’s pretenses switching from the mii song he was almost okay with performing ( keyword: almost ) to something else completely unnamed and definitely flinching at the sudden cracked vocals of... wait, was that a naruto rap? right in front of his piano?

 “ wait, what the fuck—— ” yes, the sasuke screeched like the girl in question was being skinned alive right next to him almost made him deaf ( now, that was an exaggeration, but shit tends to echo at the lounge ), shoulders up as hands reached for his ears to shield them, lips tight because oh god he was going to burst laughing and if he did he knew he was going to be fired immediately. aphrodite who, he’ll need to pray the entirety of olympus to ask for a good explanation for that.

“ i’m not biting my nails! ” cue a childish retort, as if he wasn’t just totally caught in the act, completely forgetting about his boyfriend’s keen sense of hearing and then digging his own grave with a particularly loud crunch. “ or fine, maybe i am, but you don’t have to call me out like that, you know? ” it’s easy to see that he’s all fidgety and restless, pacing around the room, unable to sit still while he’s waiting for sanggil to get ready. it’s a special evening, one that’s supposed to be perfect, and he isn’t willing to let anything or anyone ruin it. “ oh, c’mere. ” he mumbles, gently pulling the other closer so he can help him, buttoning his shirt with ease and not-so-lowkey checking him out once he’s done. “ god, you’re so beautiful. ”

the fact that nothing and everything had changed at the same time felt like a blessing, like something he didn’t need to be afraid of —the soft bantering between the two of them still being there, just like the newest addition of a more intimate form of affection, of further meanings between words. it was something that just made the transition from friends to lovers easier, less of a trauma. “ well, someone’s gotta do that, and it’s better if it’s me rather than a stranger, no? ” with a chuckle he let his own hands fall to the side so that the other could engage the fight against his shirt’s buttons, feeling the silk caressing the pale skin underneath. it was a pretty shirt —according to the clerk, it was something similar in style to what an idol group had been wearing. not that he cared. he just liked silken fabrics and details meant to wrap around his neck. “ i am pretty sure you look better. ”

Sanggil was a comforting presences that put her at ease just by being there. They were currently sitting in a gourmet restaurant having dinner. She was hungry and just wanted something that wasn’t from a convenient store. She sat across from him while smiling at the activity going on around her. “I wonder how long it’s gonna take.” she said while taking a sip of water. They had been waiting for around 30 minutes, but she couldn’t really blame them. It was a Saturday night and as expected it was crowded. She took a look around and scanned the crowd that was there. Mostly it was couples in their 30s who wanted a night away from the children. She kept scanning the room when her eyes caught something. It was a piano in the corner of the room. She turned to Sanggil and gave him a hopeful smile. “Are your piano playing fingers working tonight?” she asked while pointing to the piano in the corner.

celebrities at the place where he worked weren’t a rarity at all —so many had crossed those halls and had a more or less satisfying night ( for many reasons not including the food, that’s probably one of the few decent things in there ), and he could recognize easily if the person sitting to his left was some entrepreneur or seo taiji himself, or people who simply could afford some high end restaurant treats. or, in this case, subin —the older idol always welcomed by the pianist for a visit or two, “ well, i hope they ain’t gonna make you wait too much, the chef has the tendency to be nitpicky with air too. i’m kinda curious to know what did you get. ” he’d rather joke along with a slight smile on his face and the blind, lifeless-looking  eyes uncovered by any sunglasses like he normally would and whose deadblack irises fixed in the equally black —not that someone could really tell he was blind when they were too busy eating or arguing, and he could move easily through the room and knew where things were placed after walking in there so many times. “ yeah, you just caught me, noona —the lounge area is going to be fully operative in a few minutes, just give the bartenders some time to get their drinks on check. expect some classics of the lounge scene. ”

call him whipped, but nothing could ever compare to sanggil’s smile ━ that gentle, yet dazzling smile that never fails to make his heart swell with love. “ the stars may be beautiful, but you’re absolutely stunning, gil. ” his voice is unusually soft as he speaks, mumbling absentmindedly, almost as if he’s just thinking out loud, stroking the other’s locks with a drowsy smile. “ there’s always room for improvement. i want to be even better ━ more understanding and less annoying. even though you’ve always been so patient with me. ” a serene chuckle leaves his lips as he recalls all the times he’s unintentionally managed to push every single one of sanggil’s buttons, yet he’s never snapped at him, handling his shenanigans with nothing but tolerance. and then he finds himself blinking sleepily, unable to stifle a yawn, his body shifting ever so slightly to make sure the other’s comfortable enough in his arms, his lashes fluttering gently. “ it’s late. we should sleep. ”

it was somehow weird, but also intriguing to have a name to associate to the concept of euphoria, serenity itself ━jinwoo just seemed to fit all criteria and he kind of felt dumb for not really noticing sooner. but maybe things between them needed to go like that, to follow that very unique pace. it was their story, after all, their special chapter ━and the idea of writing it alongside the other couldn’t make him feel less giddy. “ now, i don’t consider myself stunning when i’m wearing an old shirt wth a dubious print on and my hair look like i got electrocuted twenty times. ” he couldn’t help the banter, just like he couldn’t help but chuckle, his own laugh breathy ━one would say like sandpaper. curled against jinwoo’s chest, he’d find such a solace in the other’s warmth and scent, in the creak of a yawn going from the other’s mouth to his own. he couldn’t tell what time it was, but he knew it was late. “ yeah, we gotta sleep a bit. we’ll think about stuff tomorrow. ”

“ well, i think you should give it a try no matter what. you are talented enough already. ” she assured. she found it hard to believe there were people stupid enough to ignore sanggil’s ability with the piano, she instead refused to allow those negative thoughts in her mind. “ i actually got an offer from an entertainment company recently, but i’m still considering it. ” holding her cup firmly between her palms, she swallowed nervously. there was something about it that made her feel insecure. she wouldn’t usually doubt about what she knew she was capable of, but this time she couldn’t help but overthink the whole situation. “ i don’t know, it sounds a little intimidating. i still need to find a way to overcome this annoying creative block, but i know they won’t wait for me forever. ” she nodded once more after his words, a chuckle leaving her lips. “ say what you want, it is working for me— but yeah, that day needs to come quickly. ” 

he really wanted to try, bur insecurity was always there to kick him in the proverbial shins, especially when it came to people noticing he was blind and using it as some sort of penalty point for why it wasn’t enough. it was something stupid, especially considering he doesn’t need to see to be able to come up with a melody —hell, if necessary he could even have someone writing down the music sheet as he dictates each note and flux. “ i’ll see. right now i want to make sure i can still deliver some food to my table first. ”  jokingly he’d banter, giving half a smile to the other, his mind finding much more easier and pleasing to think about the idea of a collaboration with her. “ look, these are the moments in which i wish i owned a company. like, i could snap my fingers and say i wanna do something, and no one can complain because it’s my word. ”
