Hello @nadja-antipaxos 🥰 This is your Secret Santa bringing you your favorite Oscar boys. I hope you’ll have a wonderful year filled with kindness and warmth and gentleness 💖 Sending you the biggest hugs and all the love, Jess 💜
Something Something,, thinking about the moon boys and touch
The first give away is in the morning, when the warm sun just barely sneaks into the stillness of the apartment. You stir; awake enough to draw yourself closer to the warmth of your beloved.
It's steven when you find yourself tucking your chin on the crown of his head. His face buried in your chest or neck, the space he's carved out just for him. His arm wrapped loosely around your waist. One hand always slipped under the hem of your shirt to rest at the dip in your spine.
You know it's Marc when you're cacooned into his arms. Face to face, his arm folded under the pillow your head rests on. Free hand resting on your thigh, on occasion your hip. You can feel it in the way his fingers squeeze your flesh gently in a sleep hazed warning against escaping his grasp. Because that's where he's decided you belong.
Jake holds you tighter than marc does. Your back against his chest, spooning you. His hand always snaking it's way to your chest, to feel how alive you are through the night. So that each beat of your heart, each breath you take can be felt and undeniable in his hand.
Morning routines give way to more of your secret cues. The tells you've so fondly sorted through, tacking each of their names to their habits.
Steven always places his hand on the back of your arm when he hugs you from behind. His fingers trailing down your skin so he can intertwin his fingers with yours once he had you wrapped in his arm.
Marc's start with some form of contact to your shoulder. Be it his lips, his chin or his forehead. His arms wrap lower than steven's. His thumb tracing circles over your waist or hip.
Jake's hand always finds it's way to the small of your back, chuckling playfully at the way your body shivers at the action. Swaying you a bit as he pulls you into his arms. It's always his chin or cheek that he rests on the top of your head.
Marc feels like reverence. His touch heavy with security, with the knowledge that you can handle him. That you won't flinch from hands calloused by a lifetime of fighting, that you're solid and unwavering at his side.
Steven feels like adoration. He touches you like he still can't believe that he has you. But he does, as you so diligently remind him, so he allows himself to be as greedy as you encourage. Touching and kissing you Because you have to know how much he adores you, because he can.
Jake feels like devotion. It comes with the unspoken promise that nothing else besides him and the others will lay their hands on you. You are the sun that lights his moon. His touch is like everything else about him, intense and all consuming. Leaving no room for doubt in either of you about how wrapped around your finger you have him.
My name is Mahmoud. I live in Gaza with my family, and we are going through a very difficult financial situation. I tried to create a donation link for my family, but I couldn't find someone to help organize and manage the campaign 🥺💔So my friend Ahmed decided to support me by sharing his own family’s donation link, and we agreed to split the donations between our two families.
Right now, we have almost no food, and the cost of living has become unbearable due to the siege, soaring prices, and the closure of all crossings.Everything has doubled in price in an unimaginable way 🥲🥺
We might be forced to flee to southern Gaza after the announcement of a full invasion of Gaza City 💔
The bombing and destruction never stop — not for a single moment. There is no longer any real life in Gaza. We are just struggling to survive, trying to secure the bare minimum: water and food.
Winter is coming, and we have no winter clothing after our home was destroyed and we were displaced multiple times 😭🥲Please, we urgently need financial help to buy food and store some in case the situation worsens.
This is our donation link.
Please remember: donations are shared between two families. So, for the sake of God, help us, my friend. Save our children, my younger siblings, my parents, and even my older siblings — we are all homeless and hungry 🥺🥲💔

‼️ Ceasefire ‼️
Hello my friends
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and for standing by me through all this time.Thank God, the war has finally ended… but our suffering hasn’t.In fact, it has just begun — the struggle to rebuild our lives, to provide a decent life for our children, and to restore the future that was stolen from us.During the war, my wife gave birth to our baby girl, Masa, amid crisis and famine.Although the sounds of bombing have stopped, the cries of need remain — for shelter, food, water, and clothing. Prices are still unbearably high, and I have no source of income. That’s why I need your support now more than ever,to help me provide a dignified life for my family and rebuild what we’ve lost.
So please help me and donate 🙏

I am Mohammed from Gaza, 28 years old, and I live with my father and brothers. We all used to live a peaceful life together in our home. As you can see, this was our home before it was completely destroyed. It was our home, but now it is in ruins.
We worked 24/7 to rebuild our home, but now, after all these years of hard work, we have lost everything and have become homeless and displaced.
As for our work and our business, my brother and I had a university cafeteria, and we had a dream of being able to provide the best food to the students in our city.
At Al-Aqsa University, we worked together hand in hand to make this possible, and just as it was starting to happen, a war broke out and shattered all our dreams. We woke up to the nightmare of war, seeing the university destroyed. At that moment, we were desperate, helpless, and lost.
Not just our home and our workplace. But can you imagine the moment you see the last thing you owned destroyed, ruined, and shattered? So, for God's sake, you are the only ones who can help us rebuild our shattered lives. I would be very grateful for your kindness and support.
War is over But I still need help for my young kid 😭🇵🇸

a/n: mostly fluff but one scene describes a mental breakdown sort of thing
Your house being quiet still feels weird. Sure, this is how it was before the Dateviators entered your life. Since then though, you'd grown so accustomed to the hustle and bustle, but Skyler left last month, and she was the last one left. Now, in this moment, your home just felt eerie and lonely and weird. Of course, you made time to see all of your wonderful friends as much as possible, and your boys made an effort to see you at least one a week, and that helped. You'd just gotten home from dinner with Barry and walked into what felt like a ghost town the second you crossed your front door. You don't like the pit it puts in your stomach.
Sure, having alone time is great. In fact, you used to think you preferred it. But with all your loved ones leaving your home, it took some of the warmth too.
It doesn't always feel like this. You are entirely happier now than you ever have been. Your new job has been going great, your social life is thriving, your love life is even better. And coming home to peace and quiet after all that is just what you need-most of the time.
There are times, however, where all you want is to come home to Eddie and Volt.
You still haven't told anyone how you feel, especially not them. You know they would feel guilty about not being able to be with you more, and that's the last thing you want.
The two of them had been thriving in the city. They share a studio apartment very near the diner they are currently remodeling, and it is so close to being open now. You couldn't possibly be more proud of them, and happy they get to have new exciting experiences as people for the first time.
However, they are enough of a distance away that it makes your heart ache. Going from seeing them every single day to only the weekends has been hard on you. Thankfully, today was Thursday, which meant this time tomorrow the boys would be walking through your front door. You curl up on the couch, turning on a random show until you feel your eyelids begin to droop, and you take yourself to bed.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
You hear keys in the door, which could only mean one thing.
You bound over to your entry way from your kitchen just as the front door swings open.
"You're here!!" You exclaim, running into Eddie's arms. He chuckles at you.
"Hey, baby."
"Hi," you giggle, leaning up to kiss him. You hear a soft thud as Volt drops their overnight bags on the ground, and you move away from Eddie to give him a kiss, too.
"God, I've missed you guys. The last twenty-four hours have felt like a slow, tortuous death awaiting your arrival." You flop dramatically into Volt's arms, knowing he would catch you.
"However did we manage without you in our arms, live wire." Volt replies, just as over the top. Eddie snorts as he moves past you both, flopping down onto the couch.
"You both are insufferable." He says, but there's a smile on his face and a gleam in his eyes. "If you missed me so bad, c'mere."
You look over at the absolute vision of a man on your couch, and your legs can't get you over to him fast enough, dragging Volt behind you. You settle comfortably into Eddie's lap, your legs straddled on either side of him. Your other lover sits beside you, his hand running up and down your back.
The kiss Eddie pulls you into is tantalizing slow, and Volt pressing his lips against your neck and shoulder doesn't help the butterflies. You cradle Eddie's face in your hands gently, as if you could wake up and realizing you were dreaming. This is how you wish it was everyday, always, forever.
Unfortunately, the beep of the oven pulls you out of your romantic stupor. You whine as you pull away from Eddie's mouth, but Volt is already on his feet.
"I'll handle it, sweetheart, as long as I get the same treatment as our dear Eddie when I return."
You nod dreamily at him, then quickly find yourself kissing Eddie once more.
Volt returns a few minutes later, lifting you effortlessly off of Eddie's lap and sitting you down into his own. Eddie doesn't waste much time, his lips grazing over your neck as Volt pulls you into a passionate kiss.
"I know dinner just finished, live wire," Volt says in between kisses. "But maybe we could have dessert first?"
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
"Sooo..." you start as Eddie slides over your drink. "How do you both feel?" You sit on the leather barstool, legs tucked up under yourself. The grand opening of Eddie and Volt's diner had been a huge success, not that you're the least bit surprised by that. If anyone could pull it off, it would be the two of them. However, you sensed something was amiss.
Eddie and Volt share a look before giving you their attention.
"Well, honestly, a little disappointed, I fear. Is that bad to say?" Volt says, taking a seat next to you and resting his head in his hands.
"Not at all. What makes you feel that way?"
This time, Eddie speaks up. "I think the fun part for us is over. Finding and remodeling this place was great, but now...I don't know."
You hum thoughtfully. "I'm sorry, you guys. This place is incredible, though. I do really hope you're at least proud of yourselves, too."
"We are, live wire, don't worry about that." Volt places his hand on top of yours and gives a bittersweet smile. "I just wish..."
"I wish we could just keep doing the flipping part." Eddie finishes.
Suddenly, Volt stands up. "Wait. Why don't we?"
"What do you mean?" You ask.
"Flip another property! We can sell this place and buy another one, do the whole thing again! We can make a whole business out of it." Volt circles the bar to stand near Eddie, taking his face in his hands. You'd seen Volt excited before, but the light in his eyes was to a whole new level. "What do you say, dear?"
Eddie scoffs out an affectionate laugh. "Volt, you're crazy. Let's do it." He wraps his arms around Volt, planting a kiss on his lips. You can't help but giggle and cheer. This seems like a great idea. Volt is so charming, he could buy and sell any property he desires with just a flash of that gorgeous smile. And the work and care Eddie puts into a project is immaculate. Together, they'd be unstoppable.
"You guys are amazing. I love you so much. This is gonna be great!!"
Eddie and Volt both make their way over to you, pulling you close and both kissing your cheeks.
"We couldn't do any of this without you." Eddie says, voice soft, and your face heats up. "Thank you for believing in us."
"Always," you tell him.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
Within a week, Volt had already managed to sell the diner, buy another property, and the business name of "High Voltage Realty" was now registered.
"God, the next time I decide to pull a 180 and go down a new career path, I know who to call to help me." You joke to Volt over the video call. He giggles in reply.
From behind him on the screen you see Eddie walk in. When you see him look down at the camera, you blow a few dramatic kisses his way. To your surprise (and his), he blows one back. He blinks a few times and then turns to look at Volt. "Hey. The office rental place wants you to call them back as soon as you can. It sounded like they wanna accept your offer."
"You guys are getting an office??" You ask excitedly.
Volt beams at you. "It appears so! This whole thing is becoming rather official."
"Oh my goodness, well call them and then immediately call me after with the good news!!! Go go go!!!"
The boys both laugh, and you say your I-love-you's and goodbyes.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
"So, sweetheart, tell me, what do you think of this place, hm?" Volt asks after giving you the grand tour of the latest property he had thought about purchasing. It had been well over a year since they started their company, and it had, of course, been a huge success.
You grin up at him. "It's gorgeous, Volt. I think you guys should go for it. With your ideas, Eddie could really clean this place up."
Volt wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you into him. "I think you're right. Thank you as always, my love."
Volt always called you when he and Eddie thought about buying a new place, saying your opinion was "invaluable" to them. It made you feel really special, to be honest, and it's very sweet they want you to be a part of this whole thing too.
Right now, you're standing in what will be a darling little cafe by the time Eddie is done with it. You can picture it already.
Hearing an approaching set of footsteps caused you both to turn your head to the side. You see Eddie walk over to you both, a satisfied smile on his face.
"How'd the inspection go? See any pressing issues?"
Eddie shakes his head in response to Volt's question. "Nah, this one has some standard fixes, but really shouldn't take us too long at all."
"Oh thank goodness!" You tell him, holding your hand out for him to take. He does. "I'm glad it should be smoother. Last time with the plumbing was a nightmare..."
"Ugh. Don't remind me." Eddie grumbles. "Volt, why don't you make the call about this place so we can go grab some lunch?"
"On it, my darling. I feel really good about this one!" He kisses Eddie's forehead before walking out the front door.
As soon as Volt is gone, Eddie turns back to you quickly. "So. Hey. Do you think you could get a week off in April?"
You blink at him in confusion. "I'm sure I could, I haven't used any of my leave yet. How come?"
Eddie whips his head around to look at the door then turns back to you. "I want to take you and Volt to Berlin. He's been talking about a trip, and well. I don't know. Thought it would be nice. I have it all planned, I just needed your go ahead on the idea."
"Eddie. That's incredibly romantic."
He rolls his eyes and gives you a lopsided smile. "I can be romantic sometimes."
You wrap your arms around his neck and press a kiss to his jaw. "I know," you tell him earnestly. "I'd love to go on a trip with you both."
You feel Eddie's body relax in your embrace at those words. "Good. So, uh, don't mention this to Volt, okay? I want it to be a surprise."
You grin against his skin as you continue to kiss up his face and finally reach his mouth. "Your secret is safe with me," you mutter against him lips.
Volt walks in a moment later. "Good news! We sign the paperwork tomorrow and the place is ours! Now, come on, you lovebirds. I am dying for some Chinese food."
You giggle and the two of you follow Volt out the door.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
The winter hasn't really been kind to you. You wrap your blanket tighter around you as you roll over for the umpteenth time trying to get comfortable, wishing you could spend your sleepless night chatting with Mateo and Betty like used to do.
The loneliness comes and goes in waves still. You still see your friends regularly, but coming home to an empty house is something you fear you'll never get used to.
And god, was it a rotten day. One of those ones where it feels like every single little thing went wrong. The whole thing caused you so much overstimulation and discomfort that you had to cancel your night out with Sam, which really upset you, despite how sweet and understanding she always is when things like this happen to you.
The room is so cold, and so dark, and so quiet, and all you could do is think, which is the last thing you wanted.
It is far, far too much. You can hardly stand it anymore.
Your heart races and sobs wrack through your body. It hurts. Especially because things had been getting so much better for you in the past couple years, and having a day like this feels like such a setback. You could rationalize that progress isn't linear, but in these moments it was hard to get out of a vicious cycle of negative thoughts.
You sit up in bed, tucking your legs up to your chest and wrapping your arms around yourself, rocking back and forth to try to release some of this energy. But you know what you really need, and it is to not be alone in this moment. Despite your internal protests with yourself, you manage to pick up your cellphone.
It takes a few rings, but then Volt picks up. "Mm, Live wire?" His voice sounds raspy, like you'd just woken him up. Which, of course makes sense, as it's nearly 2 in the morning.
"Volt," you cry out.
The tone in his voice immediately shifts. Clearly your distress woke him up fully. "Hey, hey, I'm here. What's going on?" You hear Eddie grumble something unintelligible, and you figure Volt has woken him up as well.
"I just. I don't want to be alone. Please. Everything feels so bad."
"Oh love," Volt says, voice dripping with love and care. "Hang tight for us, alright? We will be there soon."
The knowledge that you won't be by yourself for much longer makes you feel simultaneously comforted and very guilty. Still, a large part of you knows it's for the best that you called for support. You know if you tried to deal with this feeling alone, things could get ugly fast.
You don't know how much time passes until they arrive, but soon enough you hear your front door open.
"We're here, baby." You hear Eddie's voice call out.
"Upstairs," you croak back as loudly as you could muster.
Before you know it, Eddie and Volt are in your room. Volt sits on your left, immediately pulling you into his arms, and Eddie walks around the bed to sit on your right.
All you can say is 'I'm sorry' over and over, but Eddie shushes you.
"Don't be. I'm glad you called."
They let you cry until you can't anymore, and hold you tight so you can finally sleep. And when you wake in the morning, you don't wake up alone.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
It's been about a week since that night. You've been staying at Volt and Eddie's apartment, per their insistence. Not that you minded.
That night, you admitted to Eddie and Volt that you hated being apart from them. That you wished you could come home to them every night. And they just smiled and told you they felt the same way, that their place didn't feel like home without you in it, and Volt said moving in together as soon as possible is #1 on his list of priorities. It probably won't be for a few more months, but at least the plans were in motion. You feel silly for hiding this from them in the first place, given how loving and accommodating they have been ever since.
It's mid-morning as you sit curled up on the couch and sip your coffee, the boys off hard at work. You sigh as you look around the apartment. It's so painfully endearing just how "them" it is. Slightly cluttered, but very cozy. A plush blue blanket strung over the leather armchair. A set of whiskey glasses on the countertop. Fairy lights on the bookshelf. A photo of the three of you hung on the fridge with an obnoxious heart shaped magnet.
You know you'll have to face your house again soon, but you are in no rush to leave.
You tidy up the kitchen, sort through some work emails, and sit down to watch a movie, all to kill time before Eddie and Volt come back home. You're just about to doze off on the couch before you hear your phone buzz, jolting you awake. It's a text from Mateo, one that excites you to no end. You confirm the plans to meet up with him tomorrow, a grin on your face.
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
It's the next weekend, and you are practically buzzing with excitement waiting for Eddie and Volt to arrive at your house.
You hear keys turning in the door and rush over to open it before they get the chance, startling them both. Before they get a chance to react, you present your new bundle of joy (and fur) to them proudly.
"Oh my god." Eddie says, and Volt coos softly at the small puppy. You lead them into the living room.
"Can I hold him?" Volt asks. You delicately place him in Volt's arms, and the dog responds by licking a big stripe up Volt's face. "I love him already," he giggles.
The small chihuahua seems right at home in Volt's embrace. He is one of those long haired, tan ones that is just impossibly small and precious in every way.
"What's your name, little baby?" Volt asks the dog.
"Yamper," you tell him. The boys look at you inquisitively. "It's an electric-type Pokémon. Electric...like, well. You know. And it looks just like him." You close your eyes and scoff at yourself. You are such a nerd. Thankfully, Eddie and Volt don't really mind.
"Oh my god," Eddie repeats.
"Do you wanna hold him, Eddie?" Volt asks.
His eyes widen at the thought. "I, uh. He's so tiny. I don't...what if I...?"
You grab Yamper from Volt and gently place him in Eddie's arms, not removing your hands from him. "You won't hurt him," you tell him in a soft voice.
Eddie takes a deep breath and looks down at the little fluffball in his arms. The dog immediately settles and closes his eyes, falling asleep.
"Aw, look," you whisper. "He loves his new dads already."
Eddie's eyes widen again and you chuckle.
"Relax, he's just a puppy, not a baby. And you don't live with him..yet." You tease.
Eddie flushes a deep red. "No, it's not that. It's just..."
"You liked being called a dad, huh?" Volt asks. He knows Eddie so well, it's almost scary.
"Um. Kind of. Not yet! Of course. But maybe one day?"
You melt at that sentiment.
"You two get me that house and a ring, and I'll make you both dads anytime you'd like." You say, only half-joking.
The boys both blush at that.
"Well, little one," Volt says, kissing the puppy on the nose. "All three of your parents love you very much."
˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗
The trip to Berlin comes up faster than you expected. Sam graciously and enthusiastically offered to dog-sit Yamper for you, which was a huge weight off your back. And Eddie and Volt just sold a property, and they haven't bought a new one yet, thanks to Eddie's meticulous planning, so they won't be leaving mid-project.
The best part is, Volt still has no idea. And you get to be there when the surprise is revealed to him.
It's early in the morning when Eddie swings by to pick you up and bring you back to their place. He is almost vibrating with how excited and nervous he is. You're surprised Volt hasn't caught onto something being up yet. When you walked out to his car, he wouldn't even look you in the eyes, which is weird considering YOU know about the trip already. Even the whole car ride back to the apartment, he's got a weird energy about him.
Then, he takes a wrong turn, which he never does, and that's when you know something is up. "Everything okay?" You ask him.
He startles out of his daze. "Oh, yeah, um. Sorry, forgot to mention. I was hoping we could check out a property real quick before we head home. Volt is there already. Then we can tell him about the trip. If, well, if it's okay with you."
"Of course," you tell him, and he breathes out a sigh of relief.
He drives for a bit longer before parking in the driveway of a gorgeous, two story Victorian style home. It's a beautiful shade of brick red, with a yellow trim and grey roof and stone steps leading up to the porch. There's even a little gazebo out front. Lucious green bushes lead up the path to the stairs, a bit overgrown but still stunning.
"This is the prettiest house I have ever seen." You tell Eddie. He laughs.
"Wait 'til you see the inside."
You walk in with him, and when you look around the interior, you let out a gasp. Eddie wasn't kidding, this place is incredible. You squeezes your hand and smiles at you, the softest, most loving smile you have ever seen him give.
Volt comes down one of the two matching staircases that reside on either side of the entry way. "Live wire! You made it!" He rushes over to you and immediately you can tell something is different about him, too. "I'd, um. I would love to give you the grand tour. Get your opinion on the place, if you would?"
You nod dreamily at him and follow as they take you through the living room, kitchen, dinner room, even a library and a conservatory, and up the stairs to the bedrooms and office space, each room gorgeous and full of potential. After the tour you all walk back to the living room and Volt looks at you expectantly.
"What do you think?"
"Volt, Eddie, this place is perfect. And with what you could do to it, it would only get better."
Eddie gives you a smile. "Do you want to hear our ideas for it?"
"Absolutely."
"Well," Volt interjects. "I was thinking the living room would be cozy and comfortable, full of bookshelves and plants. And look, this little corner by the fireplace is perfect for a dog bed or something similar.
"And that bedroom by the master upstairs, with the buttercup yellow paint. Well, we were thinking either a guest room or even a nursery. And the room across the hall would make a great home office. And..."
Volt goes through every room, with small interjections from Eddie here and there, basically describing your exact dream house. Whoever gets to purchase this home from them is one lucky motherfucker, you think.
"What do you think?" Eddie asks you.
"I love it, guys. Really."
"Good," Volt says, giving Eddie a soft look before turning to you. "Because it's yours. Yours and mine and Eddie's. And little Yamper's, too."
It takes a moment for the words to sink in. You look around the house, your house, in complete disbelief.
"You mean it?" You whisper out, tears filling your eyes.
"Of course, baby." Eddie says.
Volt then pulls something out of his pocket and delicately places it in your hand. A house key. On its own little key ring, complete with a cute plush bunny keychain in your favorite color. You squeeze the keys in your palm, unable to process it still, and that's when you notice something else on there.
A ring.
A beautiful, intricate, everything you have ever dreamed of type of ring.
"Oh," you gasp, tears fully streaming down your face at this point. When you look back up from the keys in your hand, you see Volt on one knee. He's holding out a second ring, this one directed at Eddie.
"Volt, what the fuck?" Eddie laughs affectionately. He's quickly crying too, wiping his eyes on his sleeve.
"I want you both forever. I want this little life we have built together forever. I love you both so much. Would you two do me the honors of making me the luckiest fuse-box turned man ever and accept my hand in marriage?"
You quickly nod and crash into Volt's embrace, Eddie following suit.
"Volt," Eddie laughs through his tears. "I have a surprise for you too. We're leaving for Berlin tonight."
"What?!" Volt exclaims. You giggle.
"A little pre-honeymoon!!" You say excitedly.
Volt pulls you both closer, a tangle of kisses, laughter, and love filling the room.
You stand in your new forever home, with your forever family, and the sun shines a little brighter through the windows and surrounds you.

"Steven, come in," you warmly greet your neighbor, noticing the stack of books tucked haphazardly under his arm. "You can set those anywhere."
"Right, thanks." He nods to your apron. "Cooking something?"
"Mm-hmm, turkey and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving."
"Right, sorry. Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow, innit? Sorry to disturb you." His cheeks flush as he grants you an apologetic wave.
"No, you're fine. I wanted to host a Friendsgiving or maybe a Neighbors-giving? But I only know you so far," you explain, leading him toward the kitchen. "Maybe next year, after I've met more people. I thought maybe you would like some leftovers, if nothing else."
You go on to explain that, aside from turkey, you're making yams with vegan marshmallows on top and using non-dairy items and vegan butter in the stuffing. You're also working on some green beans, cranberries, and of course, rolls.
"You have to work tomorrow, right?"
"Off at 5:30."
"Would you..." you bounce on your toes apprehensively, your tummy flip-flopping. "Would you like to come over for dinner? I understand if the turkey's a dealbreaker, no worries."
"Could I?" He breathlessly returns. "That would be so lovely, actually."
"Perfect," you beam at him, realizing you should have just asked him in the first place.
"So I guess I'll let you carry on," Steven says, stuffing his hands into his pockets and shifting from foot to foot. He nods toward the stack of books he's returning to you. "Loved those. Thanks for the recommendations."
"You already finished them?" You gasp disbelievingly.
"Had some time on my hands."
"Do you have to go? You seem kind of in a hurry."
Steven pauses, confused. "I thought you were cooking."
"No, I was just doing some prep work. We're supposed to read tonight, right?"
"Right." His shoulders relax. "Unless you need help cooking?"
You assure Steven it's all right, putting on the kettle in the process. "Which tea? Blueberry black, white tropical or cinnamon plum?"
"Blueberry black," he decides, reaching with familiarity into the cupboard to retrieve his favorite cup and yours, along with saucers. You gather the spoons, sugar, non-dairy milk and honey.
"You're sure I'm not keeping you?" He politely asks one more time.
You stop in front of him, setting your tray aside. "Steven, it's Wednesday. Eight o'clock. Book time." You smile at him sweetly. "Highlight of my week."
Steven's dark eyes shine with hope and intrigue. "Yeah?"
"Yes. I love our reading dates."
Inching closer, his hands fidget, gaze flickering away from yours before he clears his throat. "So...a date, then?"
"I don't know." You ease toward him, wishing one of you knew how to make an actual move. "Is it?"
The kettle's whistle grants you the reprieve neither of you were actually seeking.
Finally, you settle into to cozy chairs in your living area. Sometimes you read together at Steven's Library - your affectionate nickname for his flat. But typically, your place is more organized and calm. That, and Steven loves your oversized twin chairs.
Since he picked the tea, you would pick the music. Then you grab your current books and settle in. You cozy up with your dark purple cable knit blanket, draped over the back of your chair. Steven tucks his "reading pillow" close to his chest - a mushroom shaped pillow he finds particularly amusing and very you.
Then comes the best part - the most distracting, delicious part of reading date night: when Steven reaches for his glasses. It's a procedure you have memorized. First, he tosses his curls away from where they fall over his eyes. Then he puts them on, biting his bottom lip, before stealing a glance at you.
Busted. Every time.
Your cheeks heat as your eyes dart back to the book you haven't really started reading. Steven opens his book, clears his throat, shifts in his seat and you glance over every time his finger reaches to turn the page. You notice every twitch of his jaw, every time his corded neck bobs when he swallows, every curl that tumbles across his forehead.
It suddenly occurs to you that not only do you have a crush on your neighbor, you're actually quite smitten.
"You alright, love?" His eyes meet yours before he nods down to your book. "Don't think you've read a thing."
"Oh...could you read out loud?" You quickly recover, closing your book and shrugging helplessly. "Must be going cross-eyed from reading those recipes."
"'Course I can." He beams. Steven likes to read to you, and you find the sound of his voice equally thrilling and calming.
Scooting his chair closer to you, he sets aside the mushroom pillow and moves his book into a good position for you both to see. Then he proceeds to make his non-fiction historical perspective sound like a Grimm's fairy tale.
You reach for your tea, realizing you should have brewed something herbal and calming because your heart flutters every time his arm brushes yours when he turns the page. The cadence of his voice lulls you under a spell somehow.
Placing your tea back down, you resist the urge to lay your head on his shoulder or something equally embarrassing, but you want to somehow be closer to him, so you reach for the page next time he needs to turn it.
"I'll help," you whisper as your hands clumsily brush.
Steven almost drops the book, but quickly recovers, covering your hand with his own. "This alright?" Warm brown eyes lock onto yours.
You quickly nod, fighting your nervousness and squeezing his hand to let him know how badly you want this.
Eyes still fixed on yours, he pulls your joined hands to his chest, smiling at you adoringly. He raises the book to continue reading as you bring your opposite hand up to help him hold it in place.
Eventually your head does make its way down onto his shoulder.
You don't know what to say and maybe he doesn't either. But he's holding your hand and you're thankful for that.

I hope its cool to leave like random thoughts here and stuff but I love the idea of a player leaving like little doodles or love notes in the breaker box for the boys to find whenever they aren't around like it would just be really sweet for them to find something like 'love you loads!' with a slightly messy doodle of one of them on it hehe
i am SO cool with you guys leaving random thoughts in my inbox, i love to chat about ideas!! :D this is so unbelievably cute and i love it so much! i am going to be daydreaming about this forever thank you
they had always wondered why you always seemed to carry around a block of post-it notes - not that there was anything wrong with that, of course, it was just… peculiar. why on earth would you need post-it notes in a club? although they soon found out why, when one evening after closing volt stumbled across an adorable doodle of the three of you curled up together, stuck onto a freshly-wiped table on one of your post-it notes - a blue one, highlighting his hair, with the words ‘i love you!’ scrawled onto the back in your handwriting.
cute.
from here it had almost become a game to you - finding the perfect moment to hide a little doodle or note somewhere in plain sight and get away from the scene of the crime without either of them noticing. the intention was to leave them so that the boys could find them when you weren’t around, but once they’d realised your little routine, the second you were out of their sight they’d be searching for a perfectly-placed post-it note.
the subject matter was varied - a plethora of love notes, ‘love you so much!’ ‘my beautiful boys <3’ ‘love and miss you!’, sometimes a simple ‘live wire was here!’, one that broadly stated ‘LIVE WIRE’S TABLE!!!’ that the boys had started sticking to the table in your vip booth whenever it was unoccupied. and then there were the doodles - the two of them smiling, the three of you together, these often ended up stuck to the wall behind the bar, adorning the workplace with the work of the one they loved. one was a particularly silly doodle of eddie being grumpy behind the bar, which had him grinning like a maniac and promptly placing it on the wall in their bedroom (it watched you sleep, you thought, and maybe that was your punishment).
✩ Volt, who assumes people only like him for his charming and flirtatious nature, so he’s hesitant to get into serious relationships.
✩ Livewire, who assumes people only like them for their kindness and willingness to help, so doesn’t believe anyone would want a serious relationship with them beyond what they can do for others.
✩ Eddie, who’s safe and real and true, to allow them both to let their walls down and believe there’s more to them than surface level.
