In 2012, the average cost of a U.S. wedding is between $26K-$27K (honeymoon not included). While this number varies by region, season, day of the week and style, it accurately portrays what most planning couples ultimately spend for their big day. This dollar amount is a logical indication and baseline for an average 2012 wedding budget.

Did you know nearly 50% of all couples will end up spending more on their wedding than they had originally budgeted for?  Think about that for a moment.  Roughly 2.6 million weddings are performed each year in the U.S. and almost half of them will fail to stick to their intended budget. Knowing what other couples are spending is helpful in creating a realistic wedding budget that can successfully be followed.
