I have been riding horses since I was 5 and showing with the USEA since I was 14. Not once in nearly 20 years have I had a lesson with, boarded with, or competed alongside a person of color. I cannot think of any other sport where that is common.

We have to take steps to make equestrian sports more accessible and inclusive. This article (written by a black female equestrian!) is a great entry point to what it's like to be a POC in a white-dominated sport.
