Watching the principal leave, you stare up at the blank white wall in front of you, your art materials sprawled out and scattered across the floor. Stepping closer to the wall, you began sketching and let your mind wander to the memories you had made in this school.

"Remember the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, and you guys will ace the test next week." You shout as the bell rings, signaling the end of the school day. "Don't forget to finish your projects due on Friday!"

Watching your students heard out of your art class, you quickly grab your coat and rush down the hall towards the stairs, getting ready for bus duty.

As you place your hand on the railing, a larger hand places itself on yours, before it quickly retracts, with a quiet, "whoops!" Glancing up, your eyes meet kind blue ones, "Mr. Grace," you say with a smile, cheeks flushing. "Bus duty?" He gives you a sheepish smile, "Yeah, you too?" You smile at him as the two of you share a smile as you rush down the stairs towards the buses.

Standing at your respective spot, you glance down the sidewalk towards the tall, cute, blonde science teacher—Ryland Grace. You watched as he high-fived the students, played fake basketball with some, and waved at them from up on the bus seats. He took your breath away.

Feelings your cheeks heat up, you shake your head and focus your attention back towards the students running around and rushing onto the buses, unaware of the blue eyes watching you.

Waving toward the last bus that left the bus zone, you turn around to see Grace walking towards you. "Want to walk in together?" He asks with a gentle smile, and you nod, "I would love your company," you say, noticing how he picks up his smile confidently, as the two of you walk together in sync, Grace opening the door for you as the two of you walk into the building.

"Are you heading home?" You ask as the two of you enter the now empty halls, your footsteps echoing. "Not yet, think I'm gonna work on grading some assignments before I go home. I was so busy explaining to my students about the Petrova Line, I didn't get to do any quiet study time." He states, running a hand through his now messy short blond hair. He noticed you staring at him without a word causing him to glance away awakwardly, "um, how about you?"

"I'll be staying here a little bit longer, got a lot of brushes to clean." You say stopping infront of your room, nudging your head toward your art classroom. He stops with you, looking behind myself at his classroom that was infront of yours before turning his attention back to you. "Mind if I join you in your class?"

The two of you fall into a quiet rhythm as you are at the sink washing your paint brushes and pallets, occasionally hearing Grace flip through his stack of assignments, the occasional scribbles of his pen. Glancing at him, you watch as he stares confused at the worksheets, hands running through his messy short blond hair. A smile crosses your lips, thinking about how his students must have written the most bizarre answer.

When you finish setting your brushes and the pallets in the dish rack to dry, you take a seat beside Grace, glancing over at the assignments he was grading. "Let me help," You say, reaching over to take half of the pile. "How do I grade this?"

You stare in awe as Grace explains each question and answer and the scientific explanation behind each with his teacher voice. It was a lot of jumble you didn’t understand as an art teacher, but found it endearing seeing how passionate he was.

It was quiet in the room, scribbles and paper flipping as the two of you focus on grading. Your free hand falls to your side as you circle answerrs in red. Grace shifts beside you and you feel his large pinky hook around your own pinky, your cheeks flushing as a small smile crosses your lips. Enjoying this intimate moment between the two of you.

"(Name)?" His soft voice cuts through the silence as you turn to look at him, "Yes, Ryland?"

"I..." His blue eyes stare at yours intensely, searching for something. You were not lovers. Well, not officially lovers even though it felt like the two of you were secretly lovers. Maybe when the time was right, he'd officially ask you.

Odd. You thought as you stare outside your classroom door to glance into Grace's classroom, watching the substitute teacher giving a lesson. Grace never called out unless he was sick, and he wasn't sick because you had just seen him.

You frowned, it would be a boring day without him. It was work time in your class, so you decided to jot down notes from the day to tell him all about it. You couldn't wait to tell him all about it.

But Grace never came back to the school.

"Our very own Mr. Grace has been selected to work on the Petrova Line problem," the principal states, applause erupting as you stare at them, heart thrumming rapidly with slow applause, "Unfortunately, that means he will not be returning to teach. Mrs. Clover will take over."

You swore your heart stopped that day. Your ears rang, and your stomach was turned upside down. It's okay. This is just a temporary thing, maybe you'll get to see him once this is all over. You tried to justify as your bit the inside of your cheeks, stopping the tears from escaping your eyes as you faked a smile and continued cheering on your Mr. Grace. Your Mr. Grace.

A couple of months had passed, and you found yourself standing in Grace's old classroom, something you tend to do when you're missing him a little bit more than usual. His classroom was still set up just like he had left it, with just a couple of changes from Mrs. Clover.

You glanced up at the red tape hanging from the Sun to Venus. Lost in thought as your memories took you back to Grace explaining the Petrova Line problem to you.

"Knock knock."

A voice snapped you out of your thoughts as you turned your head toward the direction of the voice. "Miss (Last Name)?" Your eyes focused on hers, her ginger hair and her strong presence had you shrinking in your shoes. "Yes, that's me. Can I help you?"

"My name is Eva Stratt, Head of the Petrova Taskforce." Your eyes widen, and you open your mouth, "You-"

"Dr. Grace speaks of you often," she starts, walking towards you and stopping when she is a few feet directly across from you. Your anger vanishes just as quickly as it came, and your heart skips a beat at the thought of Grace thinking of you.

"What are you doing here?" You ask quietly and cautiously, searching her face for anything. She doesn't respond and you're unsure if she can't find the words to say or if the silence was the answer.

"He's not coming back, is he?" You ask, but it coming out more as a statement. You never wanted to think about these words. You felt that speaking or even thinking of these words was going to bring them into existence.

"Correct."

Tears immediately well in your eyes, as you bring your hands up to your face. "Ryland..." you whimper as small sobs escape your lips. "He will be remembered as a hero." She says and you glance up at her with teary eyes.

"C-Can you give him this?" you ask, turning around and digging around your bag, before you pulled out a thick and full journal. You open it to a blank page and quickly scribble out some words before handing it over to Stratt. "It's a journal of everything I wanted to talk to him about when he came back to the school..." you trailed off, now knowing that you would never get the chance.

Stratt takes the book and holds it in her hand, surprisingly gently and carefully. With no words, she turns around and leaves just as mysteriously as she came in.

And how you found yourself three days later, out on an empty field watching the Hail Mary take off. The last time you and Grace will get to be "together".

"Goodbye Ryland."

Finishing off the last paint stroke, you take a step back and stare at the mural of Dr. Ryland Grace.

"Our very own Mr. Grace has been selected to work on the Petrova Line problem," the principal states, applause erupting as you stare at them, heart thrumming rapidly with slow applause, "Unfortunately, that means he will not be returning to teach. Mrs. Clover will take over."

You swore your heart stopped that day. Your ears rang, and your stomach was turned upside down. It's okay. This is just a temporary thing, maybe you'll get to see him once this is all over. You tried to justify as your bit the inside of your cheeks, stopping the tears from escaping your eyes as you faked a smile and continued cheering on your Mr. Grace. Your Mr. Grace.

A couple of months had passed, and you found yourself standing in Grace's old classroom, something you tend to do when you're missing him a little bit more than usual. His classroom was still set up just like he had left it, with just a couple of changes from Mrs. Clover.

You glanced up at the red tape hanging from the Sun to Venus. Lost in thought as your memories took you back to Grace explaining the Petrova Line problem to you.

"Knock knock."

A voice snapped you out of your thoughts as you turned your head toward the direction of the voice. "Miss (Last Name)?" Your eyes focused on hers, her ginger hair and her strong presence had you shrinking in your shoes. "Yes, that's me. Can I help you?"

"My name is Eva Stratt, Head of the Petrova Taskforce." Your eyes widen, and you open your mouth, "You-"

"Dr. Grace speaks of you often," she starts, walking towards you and stopping when she is a few feet directly across from you. Your anger vanishes just as quickly as it came, and your heart skips a beat at the thought of Grace thinking of you.

"What are you doing here?" You ask quietly and cautiously, searching her face for anything. She doesn't respond and you're unsure if she can't find the words to say or if the silence was the answer.

"He's not coming back, is he?" You ask, but it coming out more as a statement. You never wanted to think about these words. You felt that speaking or even thinking of these words was going to bring them into existence.

"Correct."

Tears immediately well in your eyes, as you bring your hands up to your face. "Ryland..." you whimper as small sobs escape your lips. "He will be remembered as a hero." She says and you glance up at her with teary eyes.

"C-Can you give him this?" you ask, turning around and digging around your bag, before you pulled out a thick and full journal. You open it to a blank page and quickly scribble out some words before handing it over to Stratt. "It's a journal of everything I wanted to talk to him about when he came back to the school..." you trailed off, now knowing that you would never get the chance.

Stratt takes the book and holds it in her hand, surprisingly gently and carefully. With no words, she turns around and leaves just as mysteriously as she came in.

And how you found yourself three days later, out on an empty field watching the Hail Mary take off. The last time you and Grace will get to be "together".

"Goodbye Ryland."

Finishing off the last paint stroke, you take a step back and stare at the mural of Dr. Ryland Grace.

You reach down and dip your palm in some peach toned pink, before reaching up and pressing it onto the wall, placing it on Grace’s cheek in a “caressing” fashion.

Maybe in another galaxy, next time, you and Grace would get to be lovers.

long overdue goodbye

been lurking on my account for the past week and just rereading my old work and reliving the memories and feelings this page has got me really sentimental

i started writing fanfics at 13/14 on wattpad and I started this angsty tumblr page as a freshman in high school at 16 and now I am 23!

the reason I stopped writing and faded from this account is because I started dating my now boyfriend. All of my love that I poured into these characters and writing, I shifted and poured into my boyfriend. Back then, I didn’t have anybody to pour these feelings to, so I poured them into writing.

This account has a place in my heart and will always remain special to me. I have no plans on deleting it, but I also don’t have any plans on retuning

your eyes glanced up in shock as you watched as hawks burst through your hospital room. his red frazzled wings and single feathers that had fallen off with his speedy movements followed him through the door before he runs over towards you, hands hovering over your cheeks. after a moment of hesitation, he gently cupped your cheeks, thumb running across them as his gold eyes scanned your face in worry.

"oh baby, i'm so sorry i didn't come sooner," he starts as his hand softly runs across the bandage over your injury. "they said that the accident was bad and that you were bleeding from the head when they got to you."

"i'm sorry if i worried you. it's just a few stitches, but i can leave the hospital today," you inform with a small smile trying to ease his thoughts, but his wings were still poofy in concern.

his face was full of sadness. brows arched upward sadly with a frown on his lips as he stroked your hair gently. "i don't like it when you get hurt." hawks' voice was small, and you couldn't help but smile at how sweet he was being.

"now you know how i feel when you come home with cuts and bruises," you say, leaning up to press a kiss onto his lips. "i'm sorry, i shouldn't be the one moping right now," hawks sighs as he shakes his head, "you are hurt, and i should be taking care of you."

pressing a kiss to your forehead, hawks takes a seat beside your hospital bed, "don't worry about a thing, i will take good care of you, baby bird."

just like he said, hawks took care of you great. he always tended to you gently to not accidentally hurt you and would fetch things with his wings, so he wouldn't have to leave your side.

"i need to go to the bathroom," you say quietly as you slip away from his warm embrace. hawks perked up slightly and offered to come with, but you assured him you'd be okay alone.

locking the bathroom door, you stand in front of the mirror and glance at yourself—you look like a mess. gently undoing the bandage, you peel away the gauze revealing your cut and stitches.

your hand hovered over it before gently running your finger across the wound. it'll be a nasty scar...

"what are you thinking about, pretty bird?"

hawks' voice snapped you out of your thoughts as you turned to look at him, startled, "how'd you open the door?" he smiled before a single feather boops your nose. "i slid it underneath the door to check on you before unlocking it."

you frown at him with a pout on your lips, "you're creepy."

a hearty chuckle leaves his lips before he walks over to stand beside you, leaning his head on yours. "worried about it scarring?"

"a little, i guess," you reply, still focused on the injury. "you got nothing to worry about. even if it scars, it won't take away from your beauty. in fact, it'll be another little quirk about you that i love."

and finally, the string snapped.

"i don't get it. why do you keep treating me like this?" your voice had turned cold, confused, and slightly irritated, which surprised hawks. "what are you talking about?"

turning to face hawks, your lips quiver, "why do you love me so much? i don't get it. how can you love me so much? you deserve so much more."

his face falls gently at your words. his large hands cup your cheeks, lifting your face to look into his eyes, "do you love me?"

"of course i do."

"then that's all that matters. i love you too," his smile warms your heart as he presses a kiss onto your forehead. "you love me with everything you are and have, and i love you with my whole heart. you are my world."

as his arms slide around your waist, your head drops down as you choke back sobs, "that scares me, keigo. i feel like i can't meet that level of love you hold me to."

"i love you how you are. you don't need to fix or change yourself to meet any expectations, okay?"

dabi had only known you for a little over a year, and here he was, watching as you gently cared for the league members' injuries with a small smile on his lips. a delicate flower blooming in a broken down, rusty old shack.

the first time dabi laid eyes on you, he thought you had mistakingly found your way into the league's headquarters. what was a small, innocent-looking little doll like you doing here? you were probably being held captive against your will.

"this is (name), she's going to be joining the league as our medic," shigaraki states as you stand timidly in front of the league. you immediately interested dabi—how you wanted to tremble from fear but stood your ground.

"are you sure you got the right person? this little doll doesn't look like she belongs in a place like this," dabi chuckles and you frown at him, your stare hardening.

"shut your mouth and be thankful we have someone to help your scars when you can't control yourself," shigaraki scoffs, turning away and walking off towards his room, "she'll take care of any injuries from here on out."

being stared down by the members of the league, you glanced down and interlocked your fingers as you tried to hold your ground, "i want to be as useful as i can here, so don't hesitate to come to me."

and to your surprise, they welcomed you with open arms.

dabi often found himself in your room that doubled as your nurse's office. it gave him a sense of calm and security when he was in the room, though he can't say for sure if it was because it was your room or because of you.

"be careful not to use this arm too much and be very gentle with it if you do. i'll check on it again in a few hours, okay?" you inform spinner as he gives you a nod and heads out the door.

spinning around in the small swivel chair, you turn to face dabi, who was chilling out by your window, touching and observing the different items in your room, "what are you doing in my room?" you ask with a slightly playful tone.

"you know he's only trying to find an excuse to see you," dabi states and you chuckle, giving him a look, "yeah? what's yours?"

"just wanted to bother you a bit. thought you were getting bored caring for spinner all the time," dabi states, setting down a small glass container before walking over to you, settling on your bed.

"spinner is just a little carefree. i don't mind helping out a comrade," you respond, swiveling back to your desk to put away some materials you had previously taken out. "it's the least i can do."

it was quiet in your room as the only sounds heard were the sounds of glass jars clinking against each other as you organized your medical desk.

"so, why'd you join the league?"

you scoff, hearing the age-old question again. rolling your eyes, you shut the drawers to the desk, "i've already told you. i want to support the league and what they stand for."

"ah, right." you could practically hear the smirk coming from him. "you know, i've heard a silly little story about why you joined."

your back was to dabi as you continued to pick up your room a bit, "humor me."

"i heard you joined the league because you were tired of everybody doing you wrong." dabi watched as you froze in your place before letting out a small chuckle, resuming your work, "that is silly isn't it?"

after a few moments of silence, you let out a heavy sigh before turning around to face dabi, who was now lying on your bed, staring at his raised hand, "what do you want, dabi?"

"did you know that you and i are different? i belong here; you don't." his words make you frown as you stomp over toward the man, "what makes you think i don't belong here?"

"does that feel better?" you ask as dabi breathily lets out a "yes." "the wraps will help your injuries slightly, but it won't heal you completely," you inform as you take a scissor to snip a few strands of your hair, activating them and wrapping them on dabi.

"do you want to tell me what happened?" you try again, gentler this time as you continue to wrap his body.

"got caught in a bad place at the wrong time, that's all," dabi mutters out and you let out a hum of acknowledgment. as you worked your healing magic, dabi's glowing blue eyes watch how focused you are when tending to injuries.
