why do you think the show is dumb?

well it kind of is haha! maybe dumb is the wrong word. silly perhaps? it's cheesy and tropey and full of silly drama, a lot of inconsistencies, and weird writing choices. at the end of the day though, i think that's fine. we needed a silly teen gay show, and this does the job.

hi!! look it was definitely a lot?? but i had issues with the show even before this. idk, i think i’m less disappointed than some people, even if i think it could have been better. the drama was... a bit much for sure. some things did not need to be the way they were.

but ultimately i still really enjoyed it? i like the characters and i like having a dumb teen show it queer rep. wlw lake MY LOVE IM SO EXCITED. i think the benji/victor drama wasn’t executed super well, and isabel was a whole thing, but i also think season one set up for more of these more intense issues pretty well? like benji having to go to AA makes sense in context - same thing with felix and his mom. (the veronica baby hospital plot was dumb though lmao).

the tonal shift is kind of jarring! i liked the rating the way it was before even if i like that they swear now. but i didn’t hate it.

is this show dumb? yes! do i still enjoy it? yes!!! i need to rewatch when i have more time to digest in order to really analyze my thoughts but. that’s it!

no you don’t understand how incredible special it is to me that there’s a whole love, victor episode that deals with victor feeling like he doesnt fit in with the lgbtq community bc of the way he looks and the things he likes and people calling him “the least gay person” ever, god I have never felt more seen
