Boyfriend!Bruce proposing to user. And little Dick is there. (Fluff)
You had just left the beautiful restaurant with your boyfriend, Bruce, when he was leading you towards the park. You didn't understand why, your little birdie Dick was at home waiting, so why make this date night any longer?
"Bruce, my darling, where are we going?" You asked, looking up at him with a slight frown, you didn't seem unpleasant about it yet, just a bit confused.
"We're going for a walk in the park, my love." His smile was so full of happiness and love you couldn't help feel a little giddy yourself.
"Oh, of course, but we could've brought Dick here, he would've loved it." It was clear you were missing your adoptive son.
"You're absolutely right, we should do it again sometime, but with Dick." He lifted his arm so you could hold it and walk more comfortably, then you did.
"Maybe we could make it quick? I miss my birdie, hun." You pouted, smiling after a second and kissing his cheek.
"Of course, just give me a minute." He returned the smile.
You had a feeling he was already scheming about something, but you paid it no mind, thinking it was just patrolling stuff.
He then started talking about that new dress you had bought, which surprised you, when did he start caring about what you wear? Like, yes, he'd compliment you hundred of times when you wore it, but he never talked about the dresses you hadn't even tried on.
He had something important in mind and he wanted to distract you. Did he burn the kitchen again? No, maybe he's planning to make breakfast tomorrow morning and doesn’t want to tell you.
But then you arrived at the most gorgeous spot you've ever been in. There were beautiful trees completely full of leaves all around the park, there was also a picnic blanket with two glasses of wine and- wait, a juice box?
"Alfred? Dick?" You called.
A little giggle could be heard from behind the trees, and that only made you smile even more. "Birdie?"
Then, Dick Grayson stepped out of his spot and smiled sheepishly. "Surprise, mama."
You grinned and hugged him, feeling how he gripped you tight even when he knew you weren't going anywhere.
You couldn't help but notice what clothes he was wearing when you pulled away, it was the same little suit you last bought him for the Mayor's charity event. "Why are you wearing this, hun? This was supposed to be for next week. That's what we settled on."
Dick looked down for a moment, resembling a puppy that just got scolded, but then he looked right up at you and smiled. That smile was so bright and pure you just wanted to protect him. "I wanted to look special for the occasion."
That only made you look puzzled, what was he talking about? He probably knew about the picnic, but why would he wear a suit? "What occasion, kiddo? Is something happening?"
He just grinned like the devil himself and pointed behind you, at Bruce. And then you turned to him and- Oh.
Your boyfriend, your amazingly good looking boyfriend, was kneeling down on one knee right there on the picnic blanket. His eyes already looked glossy as he held open the little box.
The little box where the most breathtaking engagement ring sat.
You stood there, completely frozen in shock when your eyes found Bruce's. He looked nervous, like when you two had first brought Dick to the manor, and something else you hadn't seen in years. Fear. He looked genuinely scared, like he didn't know what your answer might be.
"My love." He started, his voice already breaking slightly. "You know what this is, I hope I'm not making a mistake, I-" he took a deep breath, he needed to relax if he wanted to tell you everything he had been waiting to say. "I love you, I started loving you years ago and I never plan on stopping. I want to spend my life with you, have a family with you and die with or for you. I know I might not be there for every step of the way, but if you let me, I still want to be there for all I can. You know I won't change, so if you still want me like this, still love me like this, I hope you make me the happiest man in Gotham and marry me."
You were still in shock, your eyes darting from his eyes to the ring and back when you were listening to him. His words made you tear up when your eyes finally focused entirely on the ring. White gold with a round sapphire just in the middle, it was just so him, of course you'd love it.
"Yes, Bruce, I'll marry you-" you hadn't even finished your sentence when he stood up and kissed you.
The kiss was rushed, desperate, even a bit rough, like he couldn't believe that you said yes. His hands went straight to your waist, forgetting the ring he was still holding, it was almost like he thought you'd change your mind if he ever let go. When you pulled away, you were still tearing up a bit, but then he grabbed your hand so gently and slipped the ring in your finger.
"Hello, future Mrs. Wayne." One of his arms went back to your waist to press you closer to him.
"Hello, future husband." You wiped your eyes and turned to Dick. Your little birdie had seen everything, and you thought he'd be delighted, but he looked a bit sad.
"Dickie? What's wrong, my love?" You murmured to him.
"Are you guys going to forget about me once you get married?" He murmured so quietly, almost a whisper you couldn't make out.
"What? Why would you think that, honey?"
"Because one of my classmates said that when their parents had their second baby, they forgot about her! I don't want to be forgotten, mama." Tears were almost rolling down his cheeks already, his lower lip trembling to hold them back.
Which only made you melt. You hated seeing him cry, especially about something you thought he'd be happy about.
"No, my love, that's never going to happen. No matter if we get married, have a baby or maybe adopt another one, I won't forget about you. You're my little bird, forever."
"You sure?" He wiped his eyes, already feeling more comfortable again.
"Completely sure. I love you." You kissed his forehead.
"I love you too, mama." He leaned into the kiss with a grin.
I think it's clear how much I love the batkids as actual kids.
Not proofread tbh, so let me know if something's wrong. Also, english is not my first language, so there might be that kind of mistakes too.
