i can’t believe tumblr killed its ownself

how do they go from “we need to fix the problem of porn bots posting child porn on our site” to “we’re just gonna fuckin nuke every type of porn. don’t you dare post even one sinful female presenting nipple on our clean pure website!!!”. talk about going from 0 to 1000, jfc tumblr. something i’ve observed from my many years online is that if you start a site on a foundation of anti censorship and then years later become pro censorship, users will leave your site in droves. as soon as a new blogging site catches on, this site will be a ghost town. especially since tumblr was already starting to die before this incredibly stupid decision. almost every time i’ve seen artists who post on both tumblr and instagram, their same posts have 3-4 times more notes on instagram. tumblr has been my digital home for the past nearly 6 years, and of course it’s always had issues but it’s still better than the current popular social media sites imo. the appeal has always been that you can post whatever you want and that there’s so many different types of content too, not just art, not just writing, not just photos.. tumblr has everything! and all of that content is so easily sharable thru reblogging, especially w regards to fandom, and it makes this site feel like much more of a community than the others do. idk where i’ll go in the long run as this site becomes less and less populated. i’m hoping a new site that’s like tumblr but w ao3′s content rules/dedication to anti censorship will appear not too long from now, but it’s probably gonna be quite some time before that happens so i’ll see you all on instagram in 2019 i guess
