life ain't so bad at all, live your life off the wall
Ugh how I love my baby in pink!
a/n: Inspired by Meg wearing Dulse brand and me reading somehere that Michael would say "hurt me" when he found someone attractive. I have no idea what this is or where it's going but it's been sitting in my drafts sooo...help? Maybe?
word count: 3.7k
fluff I guess..idk any era!Michael x Black!reader
The lights in the terminal were too bright. The constant barrage of conversation irked your soul. It was 4am in the morning, how could people be so talkative? No matter, in about 5 hours you would be sprawled out on a sandy beach in Jamaica with your girls. It was your graduation gift from your whole family, a week in Jamaica with your 3 closest friends, for earning your PhD in psychology. 10 grueling years of higher education, finally behind you.
You tuck your purse tighter as you roll your carryon down the winding hallway. Gate E17. Your eyes survey the signage before finding your gate. You stop and scan the crowd for familiar faces.
â(Name)!â Rang a familiar voice before enveloping you in a tight squeeze, her smooth cheek, a creamy chestnut brown, smushed against yours. Tiff, the morning bird of the group, always up before the roosters and Jesus. âHey boo! Howâve you been? Arenât you excited?!â She was dressed in a baby blue sweat set, similar to your red one
âToo early Tiff.â A loving grin grew across your face. âBut yes, Iâm excited. KayKay here yet?â
âYep, she just ran to the restroom. If itâs sooo earlyâ Tiff dragged on. âWhy did YOU insist on getting here at 4 when the flight is at 7?â
âYouâll see, give me yâallâs tickets.â She handed you the two tickets, confusion etched on her face. Right on time KayKay wrapped her toned mocha arms around your waist from behind.
âHey pretty girl.â She cooed in your ear. She was always like this, blurring the lines of her sexuality around those she trusted. âHow are you?â
âGirl get off me.â You playfully swatted her hands. âIâm tired. Now, yâall follow me.â
âBut this is our gate.â KayKay pulled away, adjusting her brown sweat set, just as confused as Tiff.
âI know, grab your stuff and cmon.â You guided the two ladies down the corridor, stopping in front of the brand new first class lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson airport. You show the hostess the tickets marked first class. She looks at them, then at you all, a look of hidden shock and a little fear danced across her face. Yes bitch, black people fly first class too. Her fake customer service smile returns as she pushes a button to open the doors. "Enjoy ladies"
âGirl what?!â Kay squealed as we walked through the frosted glass doors. âHow did you even know this was here?!â
âDaddy told me.â Your eyes widened as the sprawling scene unfolded before you. The lounge was practically empty aside from a group of men in the far corner. The ceiling stretched high, light shining through the windows. An array of food splayed out on a center console: fish, breakfast burritos, fresh fruit and veggies, eggs, sausage, you name it, it was there for the taking. A wall was lined with different beverages from orange juice to top shelf tequila. Lounge seating was neatly arranged in quadrants around the room, all the way in the back a sign read âbathrooms and showersâ.
âOh they went all out for you boo.â We set our things down at a table before pouncing on the food table. A chorus of giggles bounced off the walls in the otherwise quiet room.
The front doors dinged open and a tinge of anxiety rose in Michaelâs chest. He was assured by his security and the airport staff that nobody else would be using this lounge this early in the morning. He heard the murmurs coming from his security as feminine giggles peppered the air. His anxiety eased into curiosity.
âOoh, hurt meâ Michael gasped grabbing his chest as 3 beautiful women entered the lounge.
âWeâre sorry Mr. Jackson, weâll see what we can do to get them out of hereâ James, his security's second in command, whispered to Michael.
âNo, no, no, no need.â He whipped his head to his security detail. âDo you see that?!â His voice hissed as his eyes bounced from one pretty face to the next. The girls were dressed comfortably in almost matching sweat sets. One in brown, the other in blue, and the last in his favorite color, a daring bright red. âBillâŠâ
âDonât do it Joker.â Bill warned. Bill knew Michael like the back of his hand. He let out a chuckle as Michael squirmed with excitement. A pretty girl always made Michael antsy. 3 pretty girls? He was losing his mind. âWe canât miss this flight because you wanna play Daddy Mack.â
âWeâve got 2 hours Bill.â Michael whined, his eyes shrouded beneath his dark shades, never wavered from the cluster of women hovering over the food table. They scurried back to their table, not even looking in Michaelâs directions. If only they knew who was watching them.
âOk, yâall bring your shirts?â Tiff asked, digging into her bag.
âYepâ KayKay smirked, darting her eyes playfully at you. âI canât wait to see you in what I got.â You rolled your eyes.
âMe first.â You hand Tiff a small packet. âThis is fitting for you.
âOh God.â she chuckled. âIâll be back.â Tiff got up and headed for the bathrooms. The group of men towards the back of the lounge all turned following her every move. Pigs. A moment later she waltzed out of the bathroom, hand covering her mouth, wearing a crop tee that said âpound my cakes daddyâ in big bold pink letters, cupcakes and sprinkles all around. You and Kay-Kay burst into laughter.
âShut up!â She tried to hold back her laugh. âYouâre next KayKay!â Tiff tossed Kay her packet which she stared at nervously. âGo on.â KayKay looked at you.
âThis was all your idea.â You said, throwing your hands up in surrender. KayKay sighed as she got up from the table. Again, the men in the corner followed KayKayâs every move. She added an extra switch to her hips, not even acknowledging them as she entered the bathroom. Two minutes later she emerged wearing a tight fitted tee that said âsave a horse, ride meâ, a smug grin tugged at her cheeks.
âIâm not even mad, maybe Iâll finally try something new this trip.â She wiggled her perfectly defined brows before handing you your packet. âItâs a dress by the way.â
âA dress?!â You exclaim, examining the slightly thicker packet. âOh girlâŠâ you saunter off to the bathroom, sticking your tongue out at the group of men before entering. One of them smiled, a very familiar smile. As you close the door behind you a sigh escapes your lips before ripping open the packet. You pull out the âdressâ, as Kay-Kay called it: A short black tank with the sides cut up into tied strings, like back in summer camp. âDress where?!â You muttered under your breath. A gasp left your body as you read what the dress said âMichael Jacksonâs kittyâ in gold letters, adorned with a winking black kitty cat. âIâm gonna kill her!â You slipped out of your comfortable sweat set and slithered into the skin tight dress. How the hell was this practical for a 3 hour flight?? You took a few steps around the bathroom and surprisingly the dress didnât ride up. What kinda witchcraftâŠYou admired yourself in the mirror. The dress just barely covered your ass, stopping right at the cuff of your cheeks, the word âDANGEROUSâ spread across the back. Glistening legs spilled out for miles. The cut up sides exposed slivers of brown skin. You had to admit, you looked damn good. The handle to the bathroom jiggled.
âGirl whatâs taking you so-" you opened the door before Tiff could finish her sentence. âBIIIIITCH!â She hollered before you slammed your hand to her mouth, only removing once she calmed down. âGirl you look GOOD! Cmon, KayKayâs gotta see this!â
Tiff whisked you out of the bathroom, strutting you past the group of men. Your eyes caught a glimpse of them, jaws all slack. âOooh you did your big one with this one Kay!â KayKay whistled as you two drew closer.
âDaaaaaaamn! My girl looks good!â KayKay exclaimed clapping before easing back into her seat, proud of herself. âYouâre welcome.â
âMichael Jacksonâs kitty? Really?â You stood over her, hands at your hips.
âWhat? Thatâs yo man, ainât it? Besides, I heard he was gonna be in Jamaica this week sooo...â
âGirl whatever!â You smacked your teeth, trying to hide a the smile crawling on your lips. âI will say, Iâm impressed with whatever technology you used to keep this âdressâ from going anywhere. I bet I could do a split and it still wouldnât budge.â You wiggled around your friends in a silly, overdramatic manner as they laughed.
âBiiiillâ Michael whined again, squirming in his seat. He couldnât believe the sight in front of him. He watched as you joked with your friends, testing the limits of your dress.
âJokerâŠâ Bill warned again but even his eyes couldnât leave the group of women. âNot now.â
âBut that one has my name on her!â He pleaded with Bill. All he wanted was a conversation with yâall. To sit amongst such beauty, if only for a while. â30 minutes, thatâs all.â Bill glanced over at him with a âboy, donât push itâ look. He knew what 30 minutes could turn into with the man heâs known since a child. Michael sighed, all he could do was sit back and watch as you gyrated around the table, his kitty.
âHey.â Ty, the newest member of security, leaned into Michaelâs ear. âWhich one do you like? Iâll get her number for you.â
âThe one with my name on her.â He answered hungrily. âTry to get her to come over here.â
âOn it.â Ty smiled like the Cheshire Cat and before Bill could counter, he made his way to your table. Michael watched, anxiously picking at his nail beds, as Ty spoke with you all. You all looked underwhelmed with his attempts, almost irritated that heâd interrupted your fun.
âNegro puh-lease!â KayKay sighed loud enough for Michael to hear. âMichael Jackson ainât here. That's the lamest line ever! Standing there looking like Chewbacca 2.0" Michael to let out a loud laugh. That caught everyoneâs attention. You all turned to look at the table of men, finally noticing the man at the center of it all. Michael slowly lowered his shades, a boyish smile shining bright. A wave of embarrassment crashed over you. âWell Iâll be damned.â KayKay muttered.
âIâm gonna kill you. Slowly and painfully.â You threatened. Ty laughed.
âActually you might wanna thank her. Mr. Jackson would like a word with you.â Your eyes bucked out of your head as they wandered back to the table of men. Michael beckoned you over.
You tried to steady yourself. Was this really happening? Get it together girl! Heâs just another man! You rolled your shoulders back and made your way to him, allowing your hips to sway heavily from side to side.
âHiii pretty kitty.â His slight Indianan accent droned. A quick sliver of tongue crossed his bottom lip before tucking a corner behind his perfect smile. âWhatâs your name?â
â(Name)â you nervously crossed your legs as you stood before him. You didnât like this, this dynamic felt strange. You stood in front of the group of men like a school girl in the principalâs office. Was anyone going to offer a young lady a seat?
â(Name)â he savored your name. âI like it.â You could feel KayKay and Tiffâs eyes on you. âI like that dress too, very nice.â His eyes roamed over you behind his Ray-Bans. He could sense your discomfort. âOh, please, have a seat.â Just as you were about to sit you looked back at your girls.
âActually I think I should get back to my girls.â You pointed behind you. Michael glanced before turning back to Ty.
âBring the other ones over.â Bill couldnât help but roll his eyes. Here we go. He checked his watch, at least there was an hour left before boarding.
âHi Michael!â KayKay and Tiff almost ran over behind Ty.
âHello ladies.â He purred. âPlease, have a seat.â Three guards got up from their seats and moved to the next table, leaving just Bill and Michael. You attempted to sit in the farthest seat but both Kay and Tiff shoved you towards the seat next to him.
âNuh-uhâ Kay whispered, bumping you over.
âAll of you are so beautiful.â He sat up straighter, leaning forward slightly. âWhereâre you headed to?â
âJamaica to celebrate our giiiirl.â Tiff answered excitedly, nudging you with her elbow.
âOh, isnât that where weâre going Bill?â Michael turned to his head of security.
âMhmm.â Bill muttered without glancing up from his paper. âBe there for a week or two before itâs back to work.â
âLovely.â He turned back to you. âIs it your birthday?â
âNo, I just graduated, thatâs all.â Why were you so nervous? Though you couldnât see it you knew he was studying you.
âJust graduated?!â KayKay and Tiff exclaimed.
âMy girl just got her doctorate in psychology.â
âAnd before that she earned her masterâs in business administration.â
âSo her family setup this lavish trip for her and she was ever so gracious to invite us.â KayKay grabbed your chin lovingly. âIsnât she impressive?â You yanked your face away, embarrassed.
âVery impressive.â Michael murmured and your face grew hot. âAnd whatâre your plans now that youâve graduated?â The fabric of his jeans grazed against your bare leg.
âI want to be a therapist for children.â You twiddle your thumbs nervously. âKids just tend to talk to me so I figured I might as well acquire some tools to properly help them out.â It felt ridiculous to say that in this dress, but it was the truth.
âWow, thatâs amazing.â You finally look up. His eyes were no longer hidden behind dark shades. The warm chocolatey brown eyes melted into yours. He was close. Too close. Dangerously close. âAnd you ladies?â He pulled back, attention aimed at your friends.
âIâm an anesthesiologist.â Tiff answered quickly.
âA lawyer.â KayKay responded, turning to look back at their former table.
âOh, so all of you are very accomplished.â
âWhy are you going to Jamaica?â You asked
âVacation.â He sighed, leaning back into his chair. âMack and his family are already there. May do some charity work. What hotel are you ladies staying at?â
âWeâre not staying at a hotel.â You replied shocking both Michael and your girls.
âWeâre not?!â
âNope. My uncle owns a really nice plot of land over there. He built this beautiful property on it.â You pulled out a small scrapbook full of pictures of the estate and hand it to the girls. âIf you have some free timeâŠâ turning back to Michael, confidence restored. âYou should come visit.â A chorus of oohs and aahs happened behind you. They returned the book to you, more excited than ever. You handed it to Michael.
âOh wow, this is beautiful! Bill, we definitely need to make time to visit!â Bill muttered a reply.
âNow boarding Gate E17, flight to Jamaica.â A speaker crackled your gate number.
âAlright ladies, Iâm gonna use the bathroom then we can head back to the gate.â You started to get up but Michael stopped you.
âFirst class has a separate entrance. You can follow us once your doneâ he slipped his shades back on.
âOh, thanks.â You and the girls head for the bathrooms to freshen up. You slipped back into your sweatpants, tucking the dress into the waistband. Upon return Michael frowned at the sight of your long legs being tucked away. Ever the gentleman he turned to his security. âGrab their things, would ya fellas?â They nodded and grabbed your stuff. You all followed Bill down the quiet corridor, down a secret terminal, until you reached the private entrance.
âGood morning Mr. Jackson.â A flight attendant greeted Michael and his team. âWelcome aboard, may I see your ticket?â Michael greeted her warmly before heading down the row of seats. Bill handed her the stack of tickets before nodding.
âSeat 3A Jokerâ Bill handed out the rest of the tickets to security as they started putting luggage in the overhead bins.
âGood morning maâam, may I see your ticket?â You handed over your ticket, eyes wandering around the cabin. âSeat 5B maâamâ
âThank you.â You walked down the aisle looking for your seat.
âHere Kitty.â Michael patted the seat next to him. âSit here.â You anxiously look back for KayKay and Tiff who were chatting it up with Michaelâs security.
âIsnât that someoneâs seat?â Did you really respond to that name?
âJust one of the guys, they wonât mind. â his long slender fingers drummed on the seat before you tentatively sat down.
âYouâre really gonna call me kitty, huh?â He smiled cheekily, wiggling his eyebrows.
âOnly if you donât mind, kitty.â An embarrassed groan left your throat. You hated to admit it but you liked it.
âNo, I donât mind. Iâm still gonna kill Kaykay for it though.â Everyone returned to their seats as the flight attendants came around. Tiff looked around perturbed until her eyes landed on you and your seat partner. A look of pure glee swallows her face as she tapped KayKay to look. They squealed like school girls, proud of what they deem their accomplishment.
âLadies and gentlemen welcome aboard flight 1111. This is your captain William. Today weâll be flying atâŠâ
âSo, why do you want to become a child therapist? I know you said they talk to you but what else?â Michael buckled his seat belt, looking up at you thoughtfully.
âWell, children are just little people but adults treat them like little robots. They have their own minds, thoughts, feelings, etc. but I feel like that gets pushed to the side. I wanna understand them better and help them find the words or emotions thatâre too strong or scary to confront. That way, hopefully, as they become adults they have the tools to navigate life a little easier.â You fiddled with your own seatbelt, not daring to meet his eyes. âBesides, they keep me young and hip.â
âI love that.â He clasped your hand in both of his, drawing your attention to his focused gaze, his sunglasses tucked away somewhere. âNever lose that spark. What you do, what you plan to do, is so important. The children of the world need you.â Your hand, engulfed in his, was tucked under his chin. He wanted you to know, needed you to know, how serious your cause was to him. Rarely did he meet someone who cared about children as much as he did.
âO-okay.â Your eyes flitted from your hand back up to his intense gaze. You stayed there for a moment before the roar of the engine snapped both of you back to reality. He released his grip but held onto your hand, placing it on the armrest between you two. He faced the window as you turned back to look at your friends. The expressions on their faces were a priceless mix of shock and pride. Nervous heel tapping returned your attention back to a now rigid figure. His jaw clenched shut as he watched the plane catch speed through the window.
âHey.â You lightly place a comforting hand on his bicep while squeezing his hand for attention. âLook at me.â He reluctantly turned to face you. âTake a breath with me.â You walked him through a few breaths, watching as his shoulders started to relax and soften into the plush seats. âWhat books are you reading right now?â Asking an harmless question in hopes to take his mind off takeoff. You eased into conversation throughout the flight, sharing anecdotes and stories about your lives. You both leaned into the center armrest, limbs brushing against each other every now and then.
âAaaalright passengers. This is Captain William, we should be approaching the sandy coast of Jamaica in about 30 minutes. Flight attendants, please do one more walkthrough before we land.â
âWhatâre you ladies up to when you land?â Michael asked while aimlessly rubbing his thumb across your freshly manicured nails.
âUhm, probably stop by some store and pickup food and supplies. Maybe chill out on a beach before the long drive to my uncleâs estate later tonight.â
âYâall should have dinner with me at the hotel before your drive.â
âAre you sure?â You turn back to your friends holding hands and clinking traveling sized shots of tequila. Interesting. âTheyâre already pregaming.â
âYeahâ Michael laughed. âItâll be fun. The rooms get kinda lonely after a while.â He softened, a moment of vulnerable conviction hanging in the air.
âYeah, ok. Iâll ask them what they wanna do once we land.â
âHell yeah weâll have dinner with Michael Jackson!â Tiff exclaimed as we exited the plane through another private corridor. Her brash tone echoed down the small hallway. Michael laughed before turning back.
âGood. James, make sure to get their information before we leave. And leave my hotel number with Kitty.â He stopped just short of the main entrance to the airport. âIâve got to leave out this way but Iâll see you ladies in a few hours. Enjoy the beach.â He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into a tight embrace. âThank you for your company. And lose the pants, your legs are too nice to be hidden away.â He whispered before letting go, turning to leave out of a side exit. James hands you a pen and pad to jot down the estateâs address and number. He quickly jots down an address and the hotel number for you.
âIf Mr. Jackson reaches out itâll be from this number. At 6pm park your rental here, behind the building, and weâll come and get you.â You nod as James runs out the same exit. You donât dare turn to face your friends.
âOoooh! He liiiiikes you girl!â Tiff linked one arm as Kaykay linked the other. âSo, whenâs the wedding?â
âLike I saidâ Kaykay hummed âyouâre welcome for the dress, Kitty.â
âYou two are so annoying.â You blushed, tucking the paper James gave you in your bag. âCmon, letâs go get the car.â
âWhere are they? Iâm huuuungry.â Tiff pouted in the backseat. The lights on the worn out Walmart sign flickered slightly. You looked around nervously, he didnât forget, did he? Just as the thought entered your mind a black out SUV pulled up next to you.
"Hey ladies." Michael cooed from the backseat as a guard opened the backdoor. "Sorry to keep you waiting..."
