[OPERATION: MAKE NAOTO PRETTY]
“I believe the only thing I will be feeling in one of these,” Naoto replied dryly, motioning toward a translucent, lacy bra, “is uncomfortable.” Maybe if the ones on the mannequins weren’t so intimidatingly flashy— she wouldn’t mind something simple that covered more than some of the lingerie she noticed as she trailed behind Rise like a lost puppy but she knew the idol would find some way to shove her into something risque. The detective wasn’t sure that her friend had heard her since she was so busy scouring the store and part of her was content with her distress falling on deaf ears; the less she argued, the quicker they would be able to leave. At least, she hoped that was the correct philosophy.
Rise promised she wouldn’t buy anything “that weird” but Naoto knew her definition of outrageous was far different than the detective’s. She walked up behind the idol and peered apprehensively beyond the girl at the display she was transfixed on, a trace of a displeased frown lingering on the twitching corners of her mouth. How could she wear brightly colored undergarments and expect her colleagues to take her seriously? She’d be the laughingstock of the station if anyone found out she had florescent panties on. How unprofessional. Naoto opened her mouth to ask if they could shop at a lingerie store that omitted extravagant designs and colors but Rise interrupted her train of thought with a stinging remark about her current taste in underwear.
“Boxers are comfortable!” She retaliated far too quickly, her face turning red when she noticed that she’d caught the attention of a few other shoppers nearby. “I-it’s difficult to break old habits, Rise-san…” Naoto trailed off, her eyes following the neon bundle of strings as it swung in the idol’s grasp. The thong was practically alien to the detective, who seemed mesmerized by the slight pendulum swing of the foreign piece of clothing. She blinked slowly, switching her attention from the glaringly bright underwear to the idol who was holding it far too close to her face.
“What is it, exactly?”
While Rise had expected Naoto to never have entertained the thought of wearing thongs, she didn't think she'd be completely unaware of what it was. "Sheesh, Naoto, how sheltered are you? It's a thong, silly! Y'know, underwear?" she teased, still dangling the undergarment in the air. "I guess they're kinda uncomfortable, but they're cute!" Of course, that would never convince the detective to even consider wearing one. "Not that I expected you to seriously buy it anyway."
She was about to return the undergarment back to where it was being displayed, when another idea suddenly popped into her head. The store had plenty of vacant changing rooms at the moment. It should be fine, right? And they were both girls--good friends, at that. Naoto shouldn't have a biiiiiig problem with it, right?
"C'mon, let's try it on for laughs!" Rise suggested with a huge grin on her face, lightly pushing Naoto towards the changing rooms.
