The Black Keys - not necessarily new, not really old yet. Love the video too. I'm doing all my posting now so that when I disappear again for school come January 3, I've met by contribution quota :).
S Silvers:
My friend shot this video and won a VMA for it. I love this video.
Cage the Elephant - Shake Me Down. Feels really squishy and organic and just a little bitter and cranky all at the same time.
And our 500th post. Woo!
such a great cover of BACK TO THE OLD HOUSE!!!!
i hear this song and pretend it's summertime again, but... it was only a dream, it was only a dream, it was only a dream!
I don't believe this even calls for an explanation.
So I expected my first contribution to the group to be something totally epic, this is not that. However, it is sufficiently moving and creepy to warrant sharing. Scala and the Kolancy brothers have done many fabulous covers, including Fake Plastic Trees and Colorblind (both on this album). But nothing can beat the chills and creep factor that this track brings on for me, and hopefully for you too. Point of reference: their version of Creep is used in the trailers for Social Network.
MEN are going on tour and I recently bought tickets for their show in LA coming up in March. I was trolling their facebook profile and watching/listening to stuff on YouTube and came across this peripherally-related video of Kathleen Hanna (now 42) taking on stripping, Nirvana, and even a treat to Rebel Girl.
wasn't much of a Spoon fan, until now.
a sublime oldie by an under-rated master
From one of my favorite albums of the year.
if any of you are familiar with the movie groove, this is the track.
i wish i could get shit done like this girl!
