If he was requested complete honesty on his thoughts, Izumi would have to admit his absolute lack of pity or care for the alpha before him. Ever since his unexpected presentation as an omega turn his life upside down, resentment against alphas as a whole had done nothing but built up on the solid foundation of despair and shame that was his heart.
From being kicked out of his special classes to being forced to hide his secondary gender from everyone at school just to be admitted in it… each affront digging deeper and harder into his hatred for alphas.
And now, when he thought life would turn for the better… than he’d be able to get a job by his own merit, and stop hiding his secondary gender. This happened. All of the sudden, not even giving him a chance to step back- making it feel like a bucket of ice-cold water had been thrown over his head.
Without a chance to gather his thoughts, and properly resign himself to his future, he was thrown in the middle of his anger to a game of house with a man he didn’t even know. If anything all that practice from idol events and fan-signs helped him keep his unwavering smile.
It however, didn’t quite prepare him for the sudden gesture, the jug of ice cold water he’d been trying to reach being taken before he could do much to prevent it, his own glass being served with a gesture both tender and elegant. Slightly taken aback by the unexpected of it all, he blinked a couple of times before remembering to smile and nod, accepting the glass that had been offered to him and taking a sip from it. The ice cubes clanking against each other, the cold drink seemed to help him cool his head a bit.
“Thank you, Ootori-san. That’s so kind of you~”
No alpha is ever kind, he reminded himself when the alpha’s words started sounding a bit too gentle - a bit too sweet. This was a play… even if the person before him was an annoyingly good actor, that fact didn’t change. It just meant he had to step up his own game.
“While I enjoy well balanced meals the most, I’m not picky with my meals. Still, if I’m allowed to choose, I’d be honored to get a taste of Ootori-san’s favorite plates so I can cook them for you in the future. I think my profile must have it down, but I’m quite confident in my cooking” he acted coy, voice sweet, movements small, head always below the alpha’s range of sight in a submissive display. A double play on his desirable wife performance- both showing his (fake) willingness to please the alpha and giving him the last decision on the matter.
He’d looked over his soon to be husband’s profile on his way here… knowing how those things go he assumed things like his specialties and even his 3 sizes would be written on it.
For some reason unknown to him, he felt a moment of pleasure spying the look of surprise appearing the omegas face even if it was short lived. Kyouya had no qualms in admitting that he generally derived pleasure from getting one up on his opponents but he certainly did not want to liken those situations to this. He did not want to consider the omega an opponent, as that would be acknowledging that a bond of some kind existed between them even if not the one their families were hoping for.
The way he saw it, in situations like these the options were to try get along or remain as close to being strangers to each other as they could and Kyouya definitely preferred the latter option. The former option seemed too much like giving in to his father’s manipulations and his pride would not have it.
Another smile soon made an appearance on the omega’s face but then the he was an idol and probably well acquainted with putting on a performance. It seemed for the time being they both had the same goal of appeasing their watchful audience which suited his plans just fine.
While the omega sipped at his water, Kyouya took a moment to glance at the other members of the table out of the corner of his eye. It appeared the patriarch, although still keeping an eye on them, had signalled the waiter to bring out the menus so they could order. His brother’s seemed to be softly conversing among themselves while his future mother-in-law appeared to be sending the occasional concerned glance their way,
His attention was redirected to the male seated next to him when his question was answered although the follow on information caused him to raise an eyebrow in question.
“Oh?”
The word may have come across as contemplative, as was the intention, but inwardly Kyouya was scoffing in disbelief. Unfortunately he had read over the other’s profile and far more information besides, to his great reluctance, if only because knowledge was power and gave the more knowledgeable party the edge. It was petty not to learn all he could for the simple reason that he found the situation distasteful after all. But in spite of being knowledgeable of the omegas supposed skill set, he hadn’t really cared about his proficiency in cooking.
He wants me... to let him... cook my food...
And give the other an opportunity to poison him? Was he insane?
The smile upon Kyouya’s face may have remained polite but the ominous, dark gaze in his eyes directed at the omega glittered coldly hostile like only those of a demon lord’s could. It was a momentary liberty he was willing to take as the only one who would notice was the omega, should he even dare to glance up.
“While I appreciate the sentiment, there’s no need for you to stoop to such a mundane task on my behalf... that’s what the master chef is for, although if you find it enjoyable you can cook to your hearts content~”
I just won’t be eating it...
Just then, a waiter appeared to place a menu before them before scuttling off to the next person and Kyouya allowed the hostility in his eyes to fall away as he amicably gestured to the glossy leaflet.
“Shall we order?”
